  1. This should have said "25/26" seasons when the districts change.
  2. In 24/25, Boone will be competing with Scott to make the playoffs. They could create a very competitive schedule and win as many as 7 games if they schedule strategically enough. Young head coaches have to start somewhere. This would be a difficult job, but the obstacles to improving the program and putting together some winning seasons is not overbearing.
  3. NKY 4A and 5A. Cooper, Dixie, Boone, Conner, Scott are 5A. Covington Catholic, Highlands, Holmes are 4A.
  4. They are going to refuse to play for a coach that is unknown and hasn't been hired? How is not working out to improve and not playing hurting anyone other than the kid making that choice? This sounds like upset kids being acting like upset kids and once the smoke clears, they will likely end up playing football.
  5. Age should never be a factor in promoting a qualified person or hiring a head coach. The person either has the emotional and intellectual maturity to be in a leadership role, or they do not. That should be the factor that is judged rather than an arbitrary age requirement.
  6. It is important to understand that many people do not have any verification or idea that a certain coach applied for a job. It is a lot of throw names against the wall and see what sticks. Unfortunately, people see a name and regurgitate it as fact, when in reality somebody made it up. This is what causes the most problems.
  7. You can call it whatever you want. It’s the same defense.
  8. I am not privy to the whole game tape but here is the Highlands highlight reel from Hudl of the first game. Highlands vs. Cooper Highlights Game 1 The defensive structure used Friday night and the defensive structure used in the first game are very similar if not identical. The only real difference is rather than play a standup end, Alexander played a tighter technique with his hand down. From the highlights, Game 1 Cooper had a stand up 5/6 technique, a 1 technique, a 3 technique and a 5 technique. Game 2 Cooper had a hand down 5/6 technique, a 1 technique, a 3 technique and a 5 technique. The back end coverage looks and alignment looks identical. You can call one defense a 3-4 because the end is standing up and one defense a 4-2-5 because his hand is down, but in reality it is the same defense. Friday night, Cooper did a good job moving Alexander around up front and caused some problems for the bigger, slower Highlands lineman. Game 1 Game 2
  9. Not sure, the first game was 58-51 Highlands. It wasn’t a blowout. Cooper won this game. Highlands outscored Cooper 15-3 starting with the safety with around 6 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. It was a 17-15 game. One teams players made more plays than the other teams players.
  10. Highlands defensive adjustments turned 541 total yards into 221 total yards. Highlands defensive adjustments resulted in 321 fewer yards for Cooper.
  11. Highlands had 162 rushing and 88 passing for a total of 250 yards. Cooper had 101 yards rushing and 120 yards passing for a total of 221 yards. Highlands outgained Cooper on offense.
  12. If this is true, those 5 players will not be eligible to play again until next Friday. The KHSAA 8 quarter rule starts on Friday and runs through Thursday of the following week. So by rule, if they played 8 quarters on Saturday, they would be required to miss any games scheduled this week before Friday night's varsity game.
  13. Coach Borchers does a great job. He fields competitive teams against tough schedules. Cooper should be really good this year with loads of talent and experience. 10 current head coaches in NKY have won regional titles including Kozerski, Eviston, Borchers, Niederman, Lickert, Weinrich, Barth, Sphire, Warner and Lucas. A few more have regional title game appearances including Engler and Trosper. 6 or 7 of these guys have won at least 2 regional titles. 4 have won state titles including Kozerski, Evistion, Sphire and Weinrich. Warner and Borchers have led teams to the Championship game.
