I get updates on 5 Baseball teams from the KHSAA scoreboard app. It seems like a higher than usual number of cancellations lately. Especially since the weather shouldn't have been an issue for most of the cancellations.

Well that stinks. I know it's a digital age but as a kid I always looked forward to getting a program at the sweet 16. Loved looking at all the rosters and ads for all the basketball camps. Bet I still have a bunch foe late 70s/early 80s at my folks house.

I was at those games and he was not himself. Played very poorly that weekend. Not sure what his ceiling is but that was worst stretch I've seen him play last two years. -

I predict lots of cold and wet players and fans. Lots of stinging hands and shoddy defense. Horrible day for a season opener but cold ugly baseball is better than no baseball. -

It's my alma mater so I know my stuff. Amazing how small KCC has gotten. Had over 1000 kids my time there. -

And Hindman and Carr Creek werent added to the old Knott County high to make it KCC. It was a brand new school consolidated from those 3. The old Knott County HS was in Pippa Passes across from Alice Lloyd College. The brand new KCC was in Hindman. -

Oh I agree about Herbie. I meant there hasn't been a player at KCC since Herbie as good as Justice. Herbie played 3 years at Hindman high. KCC opened for his senior year. KCC went something like 32-2. Ran into the Darrell Griffith and Butch Beard team that won the sweet 16 that year. Herbie played several years in Europe after his days at Morehead. -

Just some info in response to several questions throughout this thread. Cordia is a public school, part of the Knott County Schools system. Knott Central opened for the 1974-75 school year consolidated from Hindman, Carr Creek and Knott County High. Cordia was originally set to be part of KCC but busing issues and roads made it difficult to get kids to Hindman. KCC opened about 6-7 years before the 4 lane highway KY from hazard to Prestonsburg opened or it would have alleviated the busing issue. Herbie Stamper was best player KCC has produced, IMO, until Justice. He played at Morehead and was their all time leading scorer when he graduated. He had 2 younger brothers, Joe and David Jeff, who followed him to Morehead. David only played one year and transferred to Alice Lloyd College. He is the father of Stuart Stamper who led KCC to back to back regional champs in 09 and 10. They are not relate to Larry Stamper who played for the Cats. I'll take "where did Baseball Junkie go to high school for $200 please Alex!"
