  1. Shope had just finished a college playing career where he played under one of the best coaches in the history of NAIA baseball. Also, Shope took over a doormat of a program and not one of the best in the state. No matter how you spin it, there had to have been better and more qualified candidates apply.
  2. What a hire. Replace one of the best coaches in the state with someone with no experience and someone that nobody has ever heard of. You have to be joking right?
  3. You think beating a 23-9 Mercer team that beat Southwestern is going to be a cake walk?
  4. Thought Mercer would be higher. They returned everyone from last years state runner-up team that beat Apollo and Henderson County out of the state tournament last year. Also, surprised to see East Jessamine or Boyle didn't get any votes.
  5. I agree niner. Think about all of the top quality pitching the 12th region has had over the past few years as well. Mercer, Danville, and West are always ranked and have proven they can be competitive with anyone in the state. Somerset is typically right there with them as well. I'd take our top 8 to be the fourth best out there, behind the two Louisville regions and the Lexington region
  6. I think they will be very competitive and win several district games. The problem is could they beat Danville or Boyle in the first round of that district. Coach Lynn definitely has the program on the rise though and i say in 2015 is when they finally get out of the district.
  7. What is everyone's thoughts on the 12th region for this upcoming season? Looks to be highly competitive once again with some of the better players in the state. Here's my opinion of the region Team to Beat: Mercer County: 3 time defending champion with 6 starters returning from last season's state runner up squad. Also has probably the deepest pitching rotation with Long, Stoeckinger, and Horn heading it up. Right there with them: West Jessamine: Returns 8 starters from last year's team. Strong pitching and defense as usual. Southwestern: Lost Starnes but will still be very competitive. Teams to Keep an Eye On Boyle County: Miniard is one of the top pitching prospects in the country and has proven he can beat anyone. Coffey is very good as well. If they develop some more arms they could be very dangerous. Danville: Don't ever count Danville team out. They return a lot of players and added a highly touted prospect in the state with Devin Harris. If they develop some more pitching they will be fine. East Jessamine: A whole lot of talent but still has to compete in the 46th district with Mercer and West. This could be the year they get over the hump. Somerset: You can't every count a Somerset team out with Grundy coaching them. Wayne County: Very talented team that returns the majority of their starters as well as pitchers from last year.
