  1. Does anyone remember the Pippen kid from O'Cath around 1986? Man that guy threw hard. He threw a 1 hitter against us. I had 1 AB, I tried to drag bunt and lined one back at him. May have been the hardest hit ball we had all day.
  2. Quote: Here is food for thought....If a coach doesn't pay his coaching dues, to the KHSBCA, he can't vote. That is already the case. You can find out exactly whick school coaches have not paid their dues by going khsbca.com Region players of the year are voted on by the region coaches (some of which do not even show up to the region tournament meeting). I know in our region that the 8 coaches that were playing in the region were present to vote along with the host school. So only 9 of the 17 teams had coaches that voted nominated players and voted on the region awards. I believe that the all state team, Mr Baseball, and coach of the year is voted on by a committee of about 18 coaches from around the state.
  3. I know we have had the same controversy in the 5th region. As a matter of fact, we had this happen each of the last two seasons. Last year, the umpires left after 5 innings of a 1-1 freshman game. The head varsity coach found out, told his AD and the checks were not sent to the umpires. The head of the umpires was told and those guys were also fined. When the umpires left that night they said that they only get paid for 5 innings but it was brought up that they did not get paid less for a 10 run rule 3 inning JV or frosh game. This year we had the same situation between the same 2 teams and the coaches agreed after 5 innings that they would play 1 more inning. Each team scored 3 in the 6th and that was it. It was the 2nd game of a frosh doubleheader and it was getting late. I think that they key is communication before the game starts.
