  1. What if you did this but combined class A and 2A, class 3A and 4A, Class 5A and 6A. So essentially 3 big classes. Still 6 champs. Class A Div 1 and 2, etc. Get some really good matchups that way.
  2. That does not apply to high school. It can be called on the complete other side of the field if they so choose. Most officials will use some discretion but if the interference is to the receiver the ball is being thrown to it will be called even if the ball is too high or low to be caught. High School rule.
  3. He needs to play well because the Helton kid is right on his heels.
  4. Sounds like a bunch of kids made plays down the stretch for both teams. Love to see this in big games not losing because of a missed free throw or bad call.
  5. It should be the same schedule just flip flop home and away. 2nd year of 2 year cycles coming up.
  6. But assistants at schools with good programs or a desire to be good programs never work 10 week schedule at 10 hours a week. You are expected to work year round. At the end of the season you might get a little time off before the weights start. This goes to spring ball. Spring ball is 10 practices spread out over 15 days. after spring ball you have weights till school lets out. After school lets out more time is spent lifting and doing practice type stuff for the upcoming season. Then you get your true time away the dead period. But I venture to say that most coaches are still doing some kind of prep during this time. Then post dead period is spent with practices and trying to squeeze in 7 on 7's before practice officially begins in August. I would venture to say most assistant coaches at these schools are making at least $3,000 or more to coach. But when you look at the total hours spent on football its a lot less than $5.00 and hour. And for a head coach its even more time spent. And it's not just football it can be other sports as well. I believe the time required to do this is way too much. But if your not doing it you and your program aren't any good in parent and message board opinions because you are not trying as hard as other programs. Everyone knows Trinity and X are best because they outwork people. They have proven that to us several times on this message board. But those administrators that know nothing about sports think that $3,000 is a lot for a 10 week season.
  7. If your not getting a D1 scholarship you are in most cases paying some money to go college. The smaller the school the more money you are paying. And usually the smaller the school the more expensive they are. That's why many small schools have football. This is a part of the decision making process for the high school players. Some just decide it is not worth the cost at a small school to just keep playing. Some figure it out a year or two later, that's one reason why 40-50 freshmen at small schools can turn into 10 or less seniors. They all have to decide if the time, physical nature, quality of education, and MONEY are worth it.
  8. Lots of good players left but that is not unusual at this point. after the big boys are done the players left will spend time choosing from the smaller D2, D3, and NAIA schools. recruiting for them is still going strong.
  9. When the Scott girls played the CC girls i mentioned on the thread that neither team could be happy with the officiating and got a lecture on being tired of hearing complaints about officials, officiating is a hard job, you should try it before judging, etc. It sounds the same way in this game. Guess they did a good job if both sides where complaining. Heard the parents/fans for both sides were brutal.
  10. It only takes five to eight good basketball players to have a great team. Why do so many small schools beat larger schools? Because they only need 5 to 8 good players to compete and beat larger schools. Numbers in basketball are over-rated. It can help but is not necessary.
  11. Congrats. For those thinking he could play larger it was just a size issue. Great player though.
  12. Agree with all you said RCC9. Hadn't been to a girls game in awhile and thought it was poorly officiated. That's all. They did not determine the outcome. Very competitive game. Great effort by both teams. I know both coaches and thought their teams played hard.
  13. The refs in this game were terrible. Neither coach could be happy with the way the game was called.
