With Spring Practice listed for March 23rd (if they even still holds true), I would anticipate hearing something prior to this date.

I want to clarify here. When I said this, I was NOT talking about Coach Spader. I consider Coach Spader an "elite" Defensive Coordinator based upon his work that has already produced championships. IMO, the reason BG has worked so well during the Coach Wallace era is that Coach only had to focus on offense, while Coach Spader focused on the defense.

See the bold... We are talking apples and oranges... I want to win more than I lose. BG has through their efforts since Coach Wallace arrived put themselves over several others by their deeds. Now is the time to utilize that simply put. Why did Alabama hire Nick Saban in the first place? (And I'm not saying BG is Alabama, but I am saying they are not Fulton County either - no disrespect meant but you gotta pick somebody to call out) ...

I've only really heard Spader. But I don't live there anymore, but hear from those still there on occasion. I still feel it would be the best route to hire a bigger named offensive coach to be the new Head Coach and keep Coach Spader on as DC as long as he wants to be there and when he chooses to head back to the AD spot only, you don't have to go through this again. Maybe I'm crazy...

I think this is sound thinking. HOWEVER, if EVER BG went out on the Big Stage to see who might be interested, could there stock ever be higher to attract a possibly higher profile coach? I'm not calling for that but I am saying I would open the line and listen.

This is an important hire for Bowling Green. When you've only had 2 coaches for as long as most of us can remember you are doing something right. But as a die hard Purples fan, I'd like that train to continue. In saying that, I'm a Mark Spader guy and think he has earned the right to take the job IF he wants it. Here's the thing though to me: With Coach Wallace gone, who is running the offense? Exactly. To me, it would make sense to...

Everything PurpleNation said in Post 23 is true. As a Purples fan till the end, I am saddened by this news as I'd selfishly like for him to stay on. But that is unwise as to the infinite surge of football relevance he has brought to the Purples Program with his time at the helm. It is no secret that BG has talent, but so do alot of places that don't win. What would you think of BG as a program if they went 8 and 4 every year he was there and...

We come on this site to have fun and occasionally trade some barbs from time to time. It is fun and a great way to support the sports we all love. Occasionally, you will see threads like this where our members are having a difficult time either for themselves or for their immediate family members. Sometimes when you haven't been through that, common reflexes just tell us to blow that off and move on. BUT it is the ones that do not and show...

Congratulations to the young man! Great accomplishment! What happened to the Belfry DT that was a beast for about 4 years straight? Did he go D1?

Congratulations Coach Hawk! Really happy for Apollo - terrific hire. Really sad for Doss. The biggest attribute I have seen from Coach Hawk is that he is a Big Mentor and advocate for the young men at Doss. I know he has been a significant presence in the lives of the young men of Doss. 2 years ago, I saw them defeat Highlands in the playoffs for a program ascending win. Followed them to the CHardin 7v7 and they were the most impressive...

Some X people may not like this, but I honestly think that the reason Trinity is where they are now in football is due to their pursuit to "the best coach" and not the person "who has paid their dues the most" or directly affiliated with the program. I'm not saying those in this category at X are not good people or not good coaches but if you want to compete with Trinity you need the absolute best to do that. Just my opinion.
