I really don't see someone acting on a threat like this. From reading the letter and noticing the broken English, the person that sent this letter/email likely do not live anywhere near the USA, much less even remotely know the victim. I really don't see this being much different from asking for cash to be wired to an offshore bank account. It's an empty threat that only a fool would pay the ransom for.

Nice work 24Bricks! I think the rankings are about as good as you can get them at this point in the season. FWIW, Ashland and Boyd look to be head and shoulders over the rest of the region at this point in time.

Final from the Boyd County Roundball Classic. Ashland is now 4-0 on the season after beating a very athletic Capital team from Charleston. Another solid win for the Tomcats, Capital is one of the best teams Ashland will see during the regular season.

Trespassing laws in this state don't give you the right to shoot someone. Even if for instance it's an accident, you would likely still be charged with something. My guess is that given that you had no ill will, you could or likely would beat the charge, but you would still likely charged with what would typically be a felony. Moral of the story/thread is that if you don't have enough sense to shoot a gun and not hit someone with stray...

It is odd that the roads weren't treated at all. Just some flurries here in Ashland but all of the state controlled roads got the brine treatment yesterday.

My guess is that he would be liable regardless of whether the bullets crossed his property line or not. If you're going to fire off a weapon, you best make sure you have a backdrop that would keep anyone else from being injured from a stray or ricochet'd bullet, otherwise I can't see anyway that you wouldn't be liable for any injury from said bullet. I get it that this guy wasn't trying to harm anyone, but it sounds like he could have...

I was going to put that in my post about wall street crashing it, but left it out. The people in the USA don't hold anywhere near the BTC that others around the world do, which would make it really hard for the investors with CME and such to make BTC completely tank. I really don't think they want to do that anyway, they just want to make it drop enough to buy back in and turn some nice profits.

I really don't see the bolded happening, at least not anytime soon. Most people that hold bitcoin aren't using it for anything illegal, silk road is dead. The biggest thing BTC owners need to do to keep the government from throwing a fit is report their earnings when they file their taxes. The IRS is already looking into that and fought it out with coinbase in court. The IRS wanted records for all of their users but settled for the records of...

Meh, I think it will have a substantial drop, but it will rebound shortly after. These new investors aren't going to crash the market and take a loss, they're going to crash it and then buy right back in at a reasonable price to turn a profit.

I've been out of town most weekends lately so I haven't had a chance to spend much time on the grill. Our kitchen is getting a remodel and I'm off work today so I may see if I can get a couple of pork tenderloins thawed out in time to smoke them for dinner tonight.

I believe they will beat it up in the beginning to get the prices down, then buy back in when the market bottoms out. They will manipulate it just like they do all of the other markets.

If you're just running a single machine in your home you'll notice a pretty big increase in your electric bill but you would still earn plenty of profit. They pull about the same amount of electricity as a small space heater but will earn you around 1 BTC per year. Given the current price of BTC, there would still be a nice return, unless of course the market crashes.

Hydro mining is the solution to the electric issue and it is becoming more and more popular with the larger mining companies. They're essentially building small hydo power plants in the mountains and producing their own electricity. Plus it's eco friendly.

Essentially it operates itself once it is setup properly. Those machines generate quite a bit of heat though so it wouldn't be a bad idea to check the cpu/gpu temps occasionally to make sure you don't fry the processor.

Yes it's mined digitally. BTC as well as other crypto's are all digital forms of currency, something has to give them their worth which is the blockchain. Mine the blockchain and you earn digital currency, or you can just convert USD to it and buy it that way. The pizza was actually two pizza's that were bought in 2010 for 10k in bitcoing. Totday, those two pizza's would be worth nearly 200 million dollars in relevance with the amount of...

Those two pizza's bought back in 2010 for 10k in bitcoin are now worth nearly 200 million dollars, hence the reason it won't become a currency anytime soon. Insane, it was domino's pizza at that.

Mining is simply completing/documenting transactions on the blockchain via a computer and a mining app or pool. Each transaction has a fee associated with it, which eventually results in a payout in whatever cryptocurrency you are mining. The only way to really make any money at it though it to buy a dedicated rig that is set up to mine coins only. The other issue with it is the amount of electricity you're going to consume with running said...

It appears that today the burning point was $19.5k as there was a major correction as BTC approached 20k. It's starting to stabilize around 16k though which is still a 23% gain over this time yesterday.

It isn't taxed when converted to USD, but it would be in your best interest to report it on your tax return. The bottom falling out is always a possibility, but it would still be hard to not come out ahead as long as you keep adjusting your stop/losses as the market grows. I pulled my initial investment out a while back so theoretically I can't lose any money, however I could lose a lot of profits. Yes, anytime there are a lot of people selling...

Those are both solid crypto's as well, I really feel like Litecoin has a lot of potential and expect it to break out in 2018. At the moment both are struggling a bit because everyone is putting money into BTC. Even people that also invest in Ether and LTC are dumping money into BTC rather than those two. If you look at this year's history, both LTC and Ether have actually blown up with Ether gaining 5,000% and LTC gaining 2,500% on the year so...

The crazy thing is that when it climbs like this there are usually some large sales that substantially effect the market cap and in turn cause a panic sale. There have been some large sales today that typically would have caused that, but the market cap is so high now that those sales didn't really effect the overall market enough to cause others to sell.
