It's funny that you all mentioned that, when I placed my order they said they could accept cash only, I said sure that's fine. I just figured that their debit/credit machine was down.

The Ribeyes were delicious, the best Ive likelely ever cooked. I bought some of the strips as well that I froze and will likely repurpose for steak fajitas, tacos or something similar. I went inside to look around and left with close to 7lbs of beef hah.

Honestly I didn't catch the name, but they were right at the entrance if you entered from the east side of the market. I looked at several other places but they seemed to have the best meat if your looking for thick cut beef.

Nope and I almost always do, even for the primary. Here in Ashland I will say there was one of the largest primary turnouts I've ever seen though. Rough guess is that's because most voters want most of the current city commissioners out.

I've been in NKY this weekend so I didn't do any grilling up until today, now that I'm home. I have two nearly 2lb (each) and 2.5 inch thick Ribeyes on the grill at the moment that I picked up at Findlay Market. I'm doing a reverse sear on them cooking them at around 300 degrees until they're rare at 120. Then I will pull them off and let the Akorn come up to searing temps and sear them for a couple minutes per side or until they probe 125'ish...

Thanks for all of the suggestions. We ended up going to Maifest last night so we skipped out on finding a good steak and just snacked on street food there for dinner. Had a big breakfast this morning so we didn't do the Sunday brunch at the tavern because we weren't that hungry during the hours they serve it. Stopped by Findlay Market after we checked out of the hotel, ate lunch while we were there and to satisfy my steak craving I picked up...

We almost went to Hofrauhaus last night, I've eaten there before and really like it. We didn't get settled into our room until around 8pm and they had about an hour wait so we opted to eat a little closer to the hotel. I had never heard of the Greyhound Tavern but I have a feeling we will be heading there after checkout Sunday, it's actually well within the budget after checking out the link you provided. Thanks for the info!

Drake's was solid. Thanks for the info on BJ's we may grab some lunch there today since we will be at the Griffin Elite sports complex off and on throughout the day. Any suggestions for a good steak or ribs? Or somewhere that does a good job at both. It doesn't have to be in the Florence/Erlanger area.

I'm in the cinci area this weekend, staying in Florence until Sunday. Anyone have some recommendations for me? We're doing Drake's tonight because it's nearby and gets good reviews. But I'll be here until Sunday afternoon/early evening so I'm open to suggestions. Nothing crazy expensive because I'll be buying for 5 of us.

Hah I don't believe you about it being hard to screw grits up. Almost everytime I've ate them and wasnt down south they were terrible. I've gotten to the point that I refuse to order them unless I'm in the deep South.

I'm not a professional photographer but I've never waited that long to get pictures back. Sounds like something is off to me, two months is too long. I know some professional photographers though, one that does Ashland high school as well as UK games, I occasionally run into him on Mondays at work, if I do this week I'll ask what the turn around usually is on that.

I saw that oil hit $70 a barrel yesterday morning and was going to fill up before the price rose but by the time I was off work it already had rose to $2.85 at most places in Ashland. Sam's club across the pond in Ohio had it for $2.53 today though so I filled up and bought a 3lb tomakawk ribeye to cook Friday evening. I feel like I won the gas battle today.

For me it started out as a place to read up on high school basketball during the Ashland/Rose Hill rivalry back during the OJ Mayo days. Imo, all of the forums are great on BGP but id imagine the money maker is definitely high school football. I won't pick a particular forum myself but I'd guess most ppl come here for high school football info.

The verticle designed smokers seem more efficient than the offset style smokers, but I'm not sure how much more efficient they are or if they cook evenly from top to bottom. The even temperature range from top to bottom is doubtful I'mo. I have an offset smoker and it becomes a real pain in the rear if you're smoking anything that takes longer than a rack of baby backs, not to mention it burns a ton of fuel. After I got into Kamado style...

Yeah there was a big push for Strader from a pretty sizeable group of Tomcat fans, which is why I and several others figured he would get the job. Personally I couldn't see firing Howell after the job he has done in a short period of time, to essentially make a lateral move. Imo, what it amounts to is Howell upset some parents and was fired and at that point there was a big push for Strader, who is also a good coach as well as a good person,...

There were a lot of people that were pushing for Strader early on after Howell was fired. I didn't really get it because it would have been a lateral move, but there was some substance to it. From what I understand this group of people wanting Strader went to Mark Swift as well as recruited other Tomcat fans to do the same, but Swift had bigger plans it seems.

Now that the rain is done I think I'll grill a mess of wings to eat while the playoff games are on later. I have a couple of bags of the non frozen wings from Kroger, I'll probably do half with a honey sriracha seasoning then baste with Montgomery Inn BBQ sauce and the other half will be dizzy dust seasoning with Caribbean Jerk bbq sauce. Potato salad and celery sticks with ranch/bleu cheese will likely be the sides. There's something I love...

I've done smash burgers from time to time in a cast iron skillet on my Akorn but it was time consuming because you can really only do two patties at a time. The family likes them more than I, but I certainly don't dislike them. I'll probably cook them more often now that I have a Blackstone table top, it has a big enough surface that I can cook as many as I would ever need all at once.

They're certainly on the right track for that to happen. However I also believe coach Howell had a lot to do with making it happen. Had he not had the success he did in such a short period of time Ashland would not have been able to land a coach with Mays resume. A coach with his pedigree would have simply turned the job down a few years ago. Ashland seems to be in pretty good shape at the moment though.

I used to do this years ago with one of my friends. His dad hosts a derby party every year and would pay the two of us $100 to work it and then Jay and I would split the tips. We would usually pull a few hundred dollars a piece along with the free food and drinks. It was always a good time.

Home run hire, imo. I've been doing some research on coach Mays and his resume is quite impressive for a head coach at the high school level. Coach Happy Osborne speaks highly of him as well.

Friday night was burgers on my new Blackstone flat top, I mixed some dizzy dust seasoning in with the meat before I pattied them out. Carmelized some onions while the burgers were cooking and threw some frozen Arby's curly fries in the oven. This was my first cook on the blackstone and I really like it, it's going to be a great tool to accompany my Akorn. Last night was three racks of ribs, corn and homeade potato salad. I rubbed down two...
