That's not surprising, Fairview is 2-3 and one of their two wins was a 36-14 win over Boyd County, the Eagles other win was a 66-46 shootout versus a 1-4 Lewis County team. Interest in football from the kids that are enrolled at Boyd County has hit an all time low in my lifetime. I'm sure there is plenty of talent walking the halls at BCHS which makes it hard to comprehend how the program has fallen so far in recent years.

This will be a similar result as the Rowan County game, Boyd County football at the moment is about as bad as I have ever seen it. I miss the rivalry and wish this game would be competitive again. That said, Ashland's JV and Freshmen will get to gain some valuable experience in the second half of this one.

I would have to know more about Gran's past to know whether Stoops hired him because he thought he was a conservative play caller or not. I don't like to presume or assume things because well, you know what can happen when using that philosophy. Technically since Stoops is the head coach, any and every loss can be blamed on him if you wanna play that card. He rarely gets credit for the wins though.

When asked if the ball should have been put in Stephen Johnson's hands more to close out the game Eddie Gran replied with "no" and that teams that win in this league win by running the ball. Coach Stoops may feel the same way, but it was clearly Coach Gran's decision try and close out the game with the running game. The quote I mentioned is on KSR, I'm not going to link it though because I remember a recent post from theguru about linking 3rd...

Typical Kentucky football, it's just not meant to be. Over the past 20 years I can't recall how many games I have attended that have ended in similar fashion. I don't care who Kentucky is playing or if they're up by 30 entering the 4th quarter, if you think the W is in the bag you haven't watched much football. That said, the atmosphere last night was the best I've ever seen at a UK game over the past 20 years, the environment was ripe for...

The chips do burn up pretty quick, so it may be an issue of needing to load up your smoke box or keep adding throughout your cook. Meat quits absorbing the smoke once the internal temp hits the 140 range though, so it's not necessary to keep adding wood after that point, though it does add a nice aroma while finishing off the cook lol. Another thing you can try to get a better smoke profile is to buy chunks instead of the chips. The whole...

I meant to ask you after your maiden voyage post but apparently my brain was thinking it but my hands didn't follow along and type it, what type of wood were you using for smoke and was it chips or chunks? Anyway, naturally due to not being coal/wood fired, propane and electric smokers will produce less smoke than than a stick burner or kamado style cooker, but by choosing the right type of wood or adding something like an amazen pellet tube...

While there were many coaching issues in this game which don't all fall on Stoops, Kentucky would have been a 35 point underdog in this game prior to Stoops being hired. To be honest if the offensive play calling hadn't became so conservative the cats would have won this one. That's not on Stoops. Kentucky went away from what was working on offense after building a 13 point lead and tried to just run the clock. I can't stand it when...

Sounds like your on the right track. The temp may even drop during the stall, in fact it likely will. Don't panic, just let it do it's thing and once it breaks the stall it'll be done before you know it.

Good luck 'tusi, you'll find that it's much easier than you may be thinking. Did you buy any type of thermometer? If you're going for pulled pork from the shoulder (some people slice it rather than pull it) remember that as much as what temperature the thermometer reads it's just as important that the meat probes tender with either the thermometer probe or by simply poking it with a toothpick.

It's sold out. There are still plenty of tickets available on the resale websites, however all tickets have been bought and paid for.

And Ohio State is certainly not a top ten team. The coaches poll really messed that one up, UK is 3-0 at the moment.

Bowling Green, a 5A team, is 3-2 on the season. There are ten 5A teams that have a better record than the Purples. Are the Purples the 11th best team in Class 5A? Your logic makes no sense.

Why not? Does strength of schedule mean nothing? Logan County has the best record in class 4A, are they the best team? I'm hoping you say no. West Jessamine is 4-1, should they be in the top ten? What about Taylor County, at 3-1 they should surely be in the top ten as well, correct? Records don't mean as much as a team's body of work. Some teams have it and lose some games along the way. Others are harder to figure out because they...
