  1. I was there for the whole camp and have to contradict some of what you say. Keep in mind this is only my perspective: Long got easily frustrated and didn't play particularly well, but at the end of the day, he's 7 foot and only a sophomore. They were wise to offer. Eli Wright is an absolute stud. He has high major ability but must get stronger. He's young so that will come. Ethan Snapp got physically dominated in the close out/box out drills I was watching the whole time. He's rail thin, even for a soph. Beverly is as solid as ever and did well. He's more of the prototype floor general. He didn't really stand out like he would in a structured system. The best team there was Beverly, Long, Wright, Skyler Hunter, and a kid from Illinois. They played well and looked even better before Long got tired. Contrary to what another guy said, Day Day Sloan looked great in drill work. He has a ton of flash to his game and was scoring against 6'8 guys in drills by using really good ball fakes. Not sure what uselessinfo was watching to say he had a bad day. Aric Holman did well and left with an offer also. He's only about 6'7 (listed 6'9) but he's very long and solid around the rim. He hit a couple of threes also. AJ Youngman (2017) was there but didn't play due to injury and was offered I was very impressed by the efficiency the camp was run with and how personable the coaches were with the kids. I liked what I saw from NKU and have already talked to Coach Bezold about coming back to watch practices this year.
  2. Brian's first year, Boyle refused to make up a game that was snowed out and Mercer advanced to the region semifinals and was upset by Southwestern the year before Steve Wright arrived. That was Clay Cinnamon's senior year. So, Brian has gone 2 out of 3 years and won a game at region both years. I'm looking forward to this season in the 12th. Should be highly competitive and any of about 6 teams could win it.
  3. PP that is the craziest claim you've made yet. I still don't know how he won area coach of the year over Britt. Mercer had a better record, beat Boyle head to head, and advanced farther in the region. I am admittedly biased because Brian is one of my good friends but Adams isn't top 3 in his own region. I'll rank Britt, Woods, and Damon Kelley ahead of Adams.
  4. Yes, Mike is a great player and an even better young man. Pure post player and will dunk on anyone who gets in his way.
  5. You guys can make all the lists you want and argue about all the McCracken kids, but only one kid on this list has had over a dozen division 1 schools call about him. That would be Skyler Hunter. I know because I took the calls. He played AAU for me and had a good AAU season. If he will stay aggressive instead, he'll be the best overall player in the region and he, Arnett, and Adams will carry Calloway to Rupp
  6. There's no way to say this without sounding very disrespectful, but if he were at that level he would be playing for a better program than Young Life. He would be playing for the Travelers, Magic, etc. I agree with PP on the idea that Conway is the better player of the two.
  7. Tyler Miller is in the process of transferring from Harlan Co. He put it on Twitter a month ago. He's going to Harlan independent
  8. Eli Pepper Caldwell County Skyler Hunter Calloway County
  9. Lost to a very good Illinois Wolverines team in the semifinals. Very pleased with the effort. Looking forward to Kansas City and the KC Hardwood Classic starting Friday to finish off the AAU season.
  10. We have now advanced to the semi finals of the platinum bracket. The way Under Armour does it, platinum is the 3rd best bracket of the 6 they have and the best of the non shoe company sponsored teams. Not bad for playing up a grade, but we have a big day tomorrow.
  11. I know a lot of attention gets paid to KY kids in AAU events on here at this time of year and I don't want two of West KY's finest to get overlooked. Eli Pepper (Caldwell County) and Skyler Hunter (Calloway County) both play for me on the Illinois Bears 16U team. We are playing up this week in the 17u division at the Under Armour NY2LA Summer Jam in Milwaukee. This is the TOP event in the country this week. I watched Cliff Alexander against Karl Towns today if you want an idea of the competition. We split 1-1 today. Played terrible first game but rebounded nicely to win our pool game and advance to the Platinum bracket, which starts Saturday morning. The most important thing is that Eli and Skyler played well in front of over 30 college coaches including Kansas State and Indiana along with bunches of mid majors who watched our game. Both have received a lot of interest from almost a dozen D1 schools each and that list will increase after this weekend. I wanted to take the opportunity to brag on these young men and spread the word about two of the best 2015 players in the state that no one has heard about (it seems) If you're ever in the West KY area this winter, make it a point to see these men play. You'll be happy you did.
  12. Extremely weak field compared to what Hoopfest used to be before certification was lost.
  13. There3 is no way that Coach Stallworth has been hired to a certified position. I spoke to him about 10 days ago and he said he will not be certified until this time next year. I would bet he has been hired to a classified position at the school. An instructional aide or something like that. He'll probably be able to do his student teaching there also. Having said all of that, I hope Maze succeeds there. I also hope that the administration is patient. It's not like they are going to contend for the 12th region title in the next year or two. The people on here posting about how it would be so terrible to hire him as a teacher over a certified candidate obviously don't understand that the only way that could happen is if there were no "qualified" candidates for the position. In today's job market, I guarantee that Casey County has had plenty of qualified applicants for all certified teaching positions they have open. Best of luck to Coach Stallworth and his program moving forward!
  14. Manimal is still very small and they are playing up a level. Anything less than a big Traveler win would surprise me.
