  1. Marty was asked to stay on staff by Coach Allen as a bridge to the team, and accepted. It was easy and logical to ask him if he'd like to be head coach when Allen had to step down. It is my understanding that at that time he was named coach for the season - I may be wrong. So, that may or may not be interim. Whether he's there after this year, I couldn't say. Unfortunately, I can't speak to what the athletic department thinks/feels. That said, this thread was about Holmes & Dayton. Sorry if it is starting to get hijacked.
  2. Holy Cross named Marty Rankin head coach the same day Jerry Allen resigned.
  3. A change in family dynamics would no longer allow him the time to responsibly continue his head coaching duties.
  4. Which is the higher profile job? What if a person's end game is not to be coaching at the HS level forever? I believe it would be a huge + on someone's resume to be the person that turns this program around.
  5. She was a teacher in the building, right? Perhaps it isn't basketball related at all. Maybe she's leaving the school district.
  6. Boone County does have this rule in place. Teams cannot participate in events on Sundays witout BOE approval. From experience, I can tell you the BOE will allow the teams to play in the State Tournament - this is typically the only exception. The school has to request and receive permission from the BOE, and a school administrator must be on site if the team advances to Sunday.
  7. If IHM has one, they've chosen not to participate in the NKMSAA this year. They have fielded both 6th and 7th grade teams in the NKMSAA however.
  8. Boone County makes a decision on afternoon/evening activities later in the day - typically around 1pm. That said, in most of my experience, if school is canceled, they usually cancel evening activities are as well.
  9. I couldn't tell you the exact number. My understanding is that the girls were moved up to fill the freshman team for sure - some may be dressing JV/Varsity. I am also only speaking about the 8th grade team. I have no knowledge of movement with their other teams.
  10. Campbell County did not field an 8th grade team this year. Their players are filling the spots of the various high school teams.
  11. Thanks for the schedule! What I'm wondering is which team listed or players that will be playing are worth checking out.
  12. Yes. These are the scrimmages at Lloyd.
  13. Tips off tonight. Who are the teams/players to look out for?
  14. Northern Pulaski defeated Casey Co. 41-36 to win the tournament. The other 2 Final Four teams were Eastside and Southern Pulaski.
  15. 34 teams traveling to Lexington this weekend to play in the 8th Grade Girls State Tournament. Good luck to all that are playing! Who is the team to watch this weekend?
