  1. Kings I have to ask why would you consider Highlands to be one of 2 with best chance yet NCC would be a dark horse ? Didn't NCC beat highlands in regular season and game this week was a scoreless game for 90 minutes then Highlands wins on pks. So you then make the assertion Highlands has a better shot at the upset of NDA ? Makes zero sense. Ryle has best shot at pulling it off as they are second best team in nky by a pretty good margin in my book. Highlands and NCC are next in line but I wouldn't favor either. My knock on highlands is they like to gamble and bring more defenders to support offense which is a big risk vs NDA . NCC is just too young to be ready for the tournament tested NDA squad that finds another level it seems at this time of year.
  2. Ok one more time. Both have to agree to 2/3 or it has to be 3/5. So despite what you say that NDA refuses to play 3/5 they would be forced to if Cooper wanted to. Cooper could force their hand . 3/5 is the official rules for Kentucky volleyball matches unless both teams agree to 2/3. So no Cooper doesn't want or didn't want 3/5. You also said NDA plays only 2/3 against public schools. False. They played Dixie, Scott, and Boone 3/5. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they will play Ryle 3/5. My only point was I was shocked the Cooper admin didn't feel they could compete like the fans who have gotten on here and declared Cooper a region contender and said they might pull the upset .
  3. NDA's athletic director can ask for 2/3 sets all they want but it has to be agreed upon by both schools or it reverts to the 3/5 . My question was if Cooper felt competitive why would they possibly agree to play 2/3? And it is absolutely to speed up what is deemed a mismatch? Do you have another explanation? Why do you think nda sets this up with the public schools? C'mon it's common sense. But since Cooper took a set I would guess they are sorry they didn't have a shot at set 4 and 5 to get the victory.
  4. Why was this match only 2 out of 3 sets? It appeared from earlier statements that Cooper fan thought they had a shot at the victory yet they agreed to only play 2 of 3? I know typically 2 of 3 is used for matches that are deemed to be mismatches to speed up the inevitable. I'm guessing nda was willing to go 3 of 5 but Cooper wasn't . And it was a 9th region matchup . Appears Cooper coaches don't share Cooper fans optimism on strength of squad.
  5. Lots of valid points here. I think this team met realistic expectations. Sure with a better draw they could have made it further in All A and regional. Schedule definitely went up after All A . Games were much harder and results showed. Let down after All A? I don't think so, I attribute it more to tougher competition. It was a good run of 4 years they maybe could have done a little more but basically got what they had to expect performance wise from the players.
  6. Now the bothersome part of last night would be losing to a team that you beat pretty easily earlier in the year. Granted Mason was somewhat hot but they got crushed in their district final vs Bracken last week. Same Bracken team Brossart handled pretty easily in All A region. How did Mason turn this around so dramatically ? Also in late December Brossart beat Highlands pretty solidly but by February on its home court Highlands came in and beat Brossart . That's a disturbing trend. Coach Feldman starts pretty fresh next year with a new test
  7. This is a little strong on the senior class. There ended up being 5 seniors on the team. One became region player of the year another a 1,000 pt scorer. Another didn't become a starter till her senior year and was a good piece to puzzle. Other 2 played their roles but weren't big scorers (maybe 4 pts a game total between both) . This doesn't spell out a can't miss unbelievably talented class. Good and they won a lot of games but not great . In the end they probably met expectations of what was realistic. Did you expect multiple state titles from this group?
  8. This one was tough to watch. Brossart scores 2 after 1 , 13 at half, 18 after 3 and 27 total. Hard to go into a region game knowing you can't allow more than 26 points to win. The point totals for Brossart in the seasons last 4-6 weeks have been challenging to say the least. Just unable to put points on the board. Seemed to decline after the blown game in All A vs Danville. Hard to pinpoint where it went wrong but a lot of talent is walking out the door. Be interesting to see what future holds next few years at Brossart . 4 starters are gone time to rebuild.
  9. I'd say if you put Schulte and McDonald into the Brossart lineup and take them away from NCC it might make a slight difference. Don't ya think? 2 D1 players both 6ft 7in and above. Then again maybe not. Trentman , Burns, Schulte , McDonald . Make a decent front court. Then again ... Probably no difference.
  10. I have to agree this is fun your easy to get going and I kind of enjoy it. Not a fan of your word twisting and interpretations and assumptions. First I don't recall saying Holy Cross was bad as a matter of fact I said they were good so why wouldn't I say they have a shot at winning 9th in the A. I said highlands struggled with their size and I felt that would be why scoring would also be a problem with NCC . The fact you bring up Boone Co as struggling to get high schoolers to fill a freshmen team as well as Highlands or any other large school is laughable . You compare the fact Boone can't get girls to come out for basketball at a 6A school similar to Brossart and NCC having to use 8th graders? Really?? One is about flat out numbers the other is a problem I don't claim answer to but this is apples to oranges. The All A is not a state title as I believe has been stated. It's a tournament during season that invites a certain size of schools. Are you upset you weren't invited to the Montgomery County tourney at Christmas also? What about the Connor tourney you were in? Was it unfair NDA and Ryle and NCC and Campbell county and all others didn't get to play in it? It's just another tournament during the year that gets good coverage. If it really bothers you not seeing Bellevue and Villa and Silver Grove and Ludlow I think Bellevue has a Christmas tournament with these teams maybe you should take it in . And my big finish of your comment NCC and Brossart have all these schools they draw from and economic advantages that others just can't overcome on a basketball court, how does Newport , holy cross , and Bellevue possibly pull of handily beating Brossart in football by 30+ every year. Wouldn't these same factors kick in? How do they do it? I say same to Brossart in football, get better.
  11. I'm assuming this whole argument you are making is in jest or attempting to just drum up debate rcc9. For starters why is it a given NCC wins the 9th? Isn't Holy Cross in the All A 9th and isn't this the same team that held highlands to 0(zero) FGs in an entire half of basketball . 16 minutes without one single shot finding the net. Didn't Highlands beat NCC ? So why does Holy Cross have no chance? You seem to have a big problem with tourney but in same post you say I wish my daughters had. 2 chances at a title with one against schools her size. So you do want it or don't or do you only want it for your child? Brossart and NCC basically take every kid that comes out for basketball. Very rare do they ever cut . Both use 8th graders typically to field a freshmen team. If this doesn't say small school what does. Are they both good this year in both boys and girls, yes. Is this the automatic case every year that they are favorites for region, absolutely not. My advice if it bothers you that badly stop fighting move a couple miles and join one of them and enjoy the ride . Otherwise just don't read the paper that weekend and avoid the results. To the other small schools you say are just not good enough and getting left out, get better.
  12. I'm so confused. NCC beats Simom Kenton by 22 and Brossart by 10 but loses to Highlands by 5 who lost to Brossart by 15 and nda gets beat pretty bad by Holmes . Obviously there is little rhyme or reason to what's going on here no wonder I had no clue about Highlands and NCC game. Can I be blamed the top 5 are interchangeable daily.
  13. We'll that went just the way I thought it would. I'll go with the NCC played as bad as they can, shot horribly and look forward to the district rematch. But in all honesty great game plan by highlands basically only way to play it on defense. Sit back in the zone and surround Kiernan and hope for a bad shooting night. Great thing with girls high school sports you never know on any given day. For most part forcing girls to knock in 3s can be a great strategy. Congrats to highlands and it appears #1 in town has a lot of debates to it. Great crowd for a girls Friday night game. Enjoy rcc9
  14. If you don't consider Mayes a big then we watch different games. She gets 15-22 a night and 5-8 boards which with Kiernan around isn't shabby. And it's not being done breaking down guards on the perimeter. She does her work in and around the paint. Is she 6 ft no, but she is a 4 on the floor which in my book is a big position. As for having a better starting 5 who do you disagree with? Only one you could possibly make a case for would be Adler and that's pretty iffy. Who would you pull for NCC to put her in? I will make this disclaimer if highlands shoots 75% from 3 they will keep it close as would anyone. Seems everyone sees a 15-25 pt spread like I do. Maybe name the score was a strong phrase but it on paper will not really be close.
  15. Not a Brossart fan but a fan of the campbell county catholic teams . Question was to give your opinion and that is what I did. Similar to I believe when you were asked about attending Highlands /Collins state title game and giving one of reasons to not go because it would be a blowout. Did Collins beat you in a touch football game at Tower Park? Or was that your opinion. Just kidding but my reasoning is more based on highlands vs holy cross game. A team with 2 big girls that highlands didn't score a fg against in an entire first half. I consider NCC to be vastly superior to holy cross and the bigs to be at another level. I just feel it's a bad matchup for highlands to play a team with solid size. They are perimeter oriented and have only one girl I consider a post player. She is gonna get in foul trouble how could she not. I would consider nda a much better matchup for highlands. Even though state voters feel nda is superior. Just a matchup thing in my book. Hopefully it's a great game. Highlands is a top 5 nky team and there is a large gap between top 5 and the rest.
