No comments yet about Paintsville. Aren't they supposed to be good again?

At DB, John Odom and Hank Birindelli have experience, and Isiah Hudson has some experience also. For depth Mason Williams, Noah Howard, Blake Shepherd and Beau Sawyer all are solid and will be battling for positions. The Tigers have players in the program ready to step in.

Raceland's defense was championship quality last year. I was impressed with their defense in the title game. Their offense needs to improve. In last year's title game, not one offensive player had double digit yardage and they had only 8 passing yards in a game they trailed the whole way. A one dimensional offense is not going to beat Beechwood. I agree with you that Raceland needs to develop their passing game and a balanced offense.

Pikeville made a good run in the playoffs last year. Did Pikeville only have two seniors on their roster last year? That is what the KHSAA roster says but I know those rosters are often wrong.

I agree. Covington Catholic played 5 or 6 guys both ways last year but not every play. Players got entire series off at times to stay fresh. It keeps your best players on the field as much as possible without wearing them down. That is what Beechwood has done for a long time. Also, Beechwood has very few starters on special teams to give the key players rest.

A lot of them have been. Several three year starters/contributors and Castleman has started since he was a freshman. If this group of seniors can win another title, they will join some of the Yeagle years seniors with three rings.

This year looks a bit like last year in that there were some key player losses to graduation but there are still a good number of key returning players as well. The strength of the team will be at the line of scrimmage. There will be good size, depth and experience. OT/DT Adam Derry leads the way going both ways. C Noah Fisher will be a 3 year starter and has made all star teams the previous two years. OT John Willis along with fellow...

Ferguson had two tackles in the title game versus Beechwood. One was on a play where he was not blocked at all and he chased down a run to the opposite side. The other was on a coverage sack where the QB had time but could not find an open receiver and was forced out of the pocket by pressure up the middle.

The players definitely go all out. Almost all of these players are kids are playing the game they love one last time. If you need your football fix, it is a good game to watch and enjoy live football action.

Going by the roster from last year's state title game, Raceland will need to replace 7 defensive starters. The offense is in better shape on returning starters with QB being the big hole they need to fill.
