  1. Also Ludlow's Geoffrey Thornsburg and Tyler Lyons were voted as All Stars in the NKBCA Div II. Geoffrey as an outfielder and Tyler as a catcher.
  2. Congrats to Ludlow's Coach Kevin Gray for being voted and named NKBCA Div II Coach of the Year. A well deserved title. As a Ludlow parent I have to say what a difference Coach Gray and his entire coaching staff made in the baseball program. What an awesome season the Panthers had going from winning 5 games last year to winning 15 games this year. I also have to say not only did the staff do a great job coaching these boys this year but they became a close family. I can say I absolutely loved this baseball season and hope these coaches are here for a very long time!!!
  3. Panthers advance in district play. Geoffrey Thornsburg throws a complete 6 inning game. Hitting leaders were: Thornsburg 2-4, 2 RBI, Evan Slone 2B, Tyler Lyons 2-3, 3B, 2 RBI, Gibby 2-4, Jake Mahan 2 RBI. Way to go Panthers!!!!
  4. Coach Gray and his staff has done an excellent job with the Ludlow Panthers. The parents knew they had some really good ball players but needed that leadership to help guide them in the right direction. It is sad to see the wasted years from before because Ludlow lost 3 really good seniors last year and with them and the rest of the team they could have really won so many more games than they did. So good luck Panthers the rest of this week and in the start of the Districts!!!
  5. I was at the game and I will say the Dayton players never gave up. Since they are such a young team if they stay together they will be a team to watch out for in a couple years. I was sorry to hear their senior Brockman hurt his shoulder and will be out the rest of the season what a bad break to end your senior year.
  6. Iagree that would not be a bad loss if it happened but the game was scheduled for the 13th next week not this week
  7. One reason this game was canceled I think is because Ludlow has played better than anyone expected and they don't want think about telling people they lost to Ludlow im not saying it would definately happen , but now we will never know
  8. Tyler lyons was pitching and there were subs put into the game early
  9. He is a very good player and an even better young man and son. His parents and family could not be more proud
  10. I'm pretty sure it was the 5th inning when TC Eades (a freshman catcher) bunted the run in on a squeeze play. Ludlow threw 3 players out at the plate. Congrats to the Panthers to the team we knew we had all along just took a great coaching staff to bring out the confidence and the skills these young men have had all along!!!
  11. W-Howard (1-0, 11 Ks) Leaders: L-Thornsburg 2-4, Durham 2-4, 2 2B; Slone 2-4, 2 RBI; Mahan 2B; Gibson 2 RBI Congrats to the players and coaches
  12. Let me just straighten it out for you, the coach for Villa did know the relationship of ump and player before the start of the game, this was never a "secret" why didn't he question it before the game? He could have said he wasn't comfortable with it but guess he was waiting for a good time like when Villa was losing. Maybe ump should have excused himself but let me assure you the assignor and other coaches for other teams all knew when Ludlow played them and it was never a problem. So therefore ump didn't really think it would be a problem because he knew he wouldn't favor Ludlow and could make the right calls, and nobody questioned it during any other games; he's a fair ump and has been umping for many years. As far as the calls in question, anybody at the game knows the truth. The player was thrown out for telling ump he sucked, as any ump would have done and coach was restricted for kicking dirt on homeplate not for questioning the relationship as you just stated it was known before the game. Sounds pretty fair there. As far as the close safe or out call at plate, well at any game when there is a close play, the offense team will always say safe and the defense team will always say out, that's why it is a close call in those situations, and Villa did lose by more than one. Last but not lease the Ludlow player that was hit by pitch, was not "surpised" but did the right thing and took base when ump made his call and you left off the homeplate ump after making the hit by pitch call, he didn't swing made an appeal to the field umps and the call was "the player was hit by pitch and did not swing" so are you questioning the other umps also. The ump is actually harder on his nephew and anyone at a game knows this. Also just to say Ludlow beat Villa in regular season with different umps and as far as the ump being at the championship game to watch his nephew be named to all tourney team, do you really know this, maybe he just came to watch the game, but regardless, didn't know it was any of your concern where the ump goes on his free time. And on last note both teams Ludlow and Villa played a great game.
