The Watch List: Belfry Pirates- Belfry has been the Beast of the East for a while now, but must replace a dominant Senior Class. Johnson Central- The Eagles got over the hump and won their first State Title, will the loss of several key cogs trip up a talented squad? Pulaski County Maroons- Pulaski got hot in the playoffs and made it to Bowling Green, they now must address life without Jake. Hazard Bulldogs- Speaking of getting hot,...

The ground is beginning to thaw out, pollen fills the air, the grass is becoming green, and Spring Football is set to begin. We will evaluate how the EKY power Rankings finished in 2016, and also take a glance at what we think they will look like as the page turns to 2017. Will familiar names fall down or even off the list? Will new names challenge the top? WHo will be the top players? EKY brough home two titles and a pair of State...

I always follow Henry County. Some of my fraternity brothers went there and one was particularly closely related to the late Lyndon Johnson the former Head Coach. Lyndon was a fine man who really cared about his community.

Who had it first? Boone or Boyle? Bryan Station's is sharp... Bourbon with bonus point for an original creation and tracing their county map. Though not incredibly original whatsoever bonus point to Boyd County for reminding me of East Dillon from Friday Night Lights.

Here's my bold prediction: Whoever wins this game wins by more than 12 points I can see it going either way on this.. - UCLA has a tendency to turn it over freely and the UK Defensive intensity is going to be vastly different from the first game. UK hasn't had the chance to get out and run since conference play started, with opportunities for transition can UK return to early season form? - UCLA is a matchup nightmare for UK. The...

Fun fact for Belfry's helmet: It seems Belfry has always had the same helmet design and Coach Haywood has been very adamant that Belfry sticks to very traditional red and white jerseys... but Belfry didn't always stick to this look: This is a game from 1980 where Belfry actually wore red, silver, and white including silver helmets. If I am not mistaken the Belfry "red" used to be closer to a burgundy as well. Maybe 'Tusi can better...

I love the Ludlow helmet but this one doesn't work for me. I honestly think it would look much better either if the A was a different font or just not used at all.

Out of this group Belfry wins for uniqueness and being iconic. I like the ACS helmet with the throwback Patriot. Atherton was the pleasant surprise of the group. I like the custom Adair logo but it seems a bit too busy on a helmet. Keep em coming!

Kentucky? I would say probably 80% or greater participate in 7 on 7 in some capacity. Heck even Belfry will do some 7 on 7. With that said, I would say probably less than 25% participate in 7 on 7 to the extent that you see the elite talent producing state's like Florida, Georgia, Cali, Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, etc. Most KY schools are playing 7 on 7 because that's what they are allowed to play and 7 on 7 reps are better than no reps. In...

Not making a statement one way or another personally I sat in the Orlando terminal Sunday with a coach from a FCS University in the Mid-Atlantic and one of his recruiters and took part in a conversation about 7 on 7 (they had been scouting a tournament). Off the record (which is why I am not giving the school) he told me that when it comes to skill players and specifically D-Backs and WR's they are almost exclusively focusing their Junior...

I am going to throw an asterisk at you on this one. I think your point is accurate and correct, but at the same time there are noted exceptions to the rule here. D-1 factories such as some of the powerhouse schools from Georgia, Florida, Texas, etc definitely have kids who get offers and scholarships for a political reason. Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain may produce 6 to 10 D1 kids a year and I would say every year they have...

My solution was to only take the top three teams per District. Break it into Semi-States and the 4 District Winners get seeded first, 1-4. Even if you are a weak team winning a weak district, you get a Top 4 seed and a First Round Bye (but now get aligned with the 1 seed for the Quarterfinals if you win your 2nd Round Game). After the Top 4 teams are seeded the remaining 8 teams in each Semi-State are seeded 5-12. The best Non-District...

Six is definitely too many... KY is at most a 5 Class State and I think 4 Classes was absolutely correct. With that said, the KHSAA won't want to give up that 6th State Final for the revenue at this point.

We have came up with solutions on here that would allow some options... hopefully those who sit at the table have read through them and have some of those talking points store in the back of their mind. What won't work is seeding teams 1-32 and sending bad teams on 4+ hour road trips to lose by 60 points. I still think the solution (if they stick with 6 classes) is allowing 3 teams in per District and Seeding the Semi-States. If you want...

Austin Dotson and Cole Bentley of Belfry are an example of how the little things make a big difference. Cole Bentley had over 30+ Offers with numerous Power 5 schools. He was a 4* recruit on some services and played in a reputable "All-American" game. Cole was active on the camp scene since he was in Middle School, very active on Social Media, and wore out the Rivals Camp scene. Dotson did ONE Nike Camp. He didn't even have a highlight...

The Rivals and Nike camps have became a necessary evil. There are a lot of these imposter camps but the two that College Coaches still care about are Rivals and Nike. Unfortunately, and though they may deny it, college recruiters still depend on these camps heavily to evaluate talent and recruiting rankings do matter. The other thing that is important is getting kids involved early. FBU (Football University) has had a lot of clout in...

First thought is they will be in a tug of war with Western Hills for the 3 seed. The loser sees their path end quickly in Round 1 of the playoffs, the winner has a puncher's chance of reaching Round 2

Sorry I missed your question about the timeouts after the failed 2point conversation. They had 2 they used them and with 2:00 it was 4th and 4 greenwood converted then took knees to end the game.
