They lost some key pieces but return one of the best young QB's in the state (Carr) and possibly the best overall individual player in the State (Wright). I expect CAL to open as an early front runner in 2A alongside Danville.

Good luck to whoever takes this one. You almost have to be someone with a love for the game and a love for helping develop kids because wins are always going to be VERY hard to come by. To that I tip my hat to anyone who has coached at Jenkins or will coach there.

Fern Creek Tigers - 2016 Grade B- In 2015 Fern Creek was one of the surprise stories of the State. The Tigers went 12-1 before battling eventual Champion Bowling Green, and was the rare Jefferson County Public School making waves deep in November outside of Central and Male. In 2016 the Tigers were asked to build on that success despite losing some key pieces and now while clearly on the radar of Class 5A. The Tigers didn't exactly "wow"...

Covington Holy Cross Indians - 2016 Grade B+ There is something to be said for hitting goals and breaking the norm. For all intents of purposes a 7-3 regular season with a 21 point defeat to NewCath and close losses to Taft, OH and eventual 1A Champion Beechwood was rather pedestrian. Outside of a dominating district win over Lloyd Memorial there was little fanfare in the regular season for Holy Cross. The success and eventual storyline...

Scott County Cardinals - 2016 Grade B The Cardinals went 8-2 in the regular season with one of those losses being the controversial loss to Lafayette where the game was suspended and unable to resume. The only other loss was 20-14 at the hands of GCL Elder. The Cardinals went out of District for wins over 5A Runner-Up Pulaski County and 4A NKY Powers Highlands (who was not themselves) and Covington Catholic. In the playoffs Scott...

A solid B sounds good to me No shame in their loss to the 4A Runner-Up and they lost to the eventual 1A Champs. The rest of the schedule was weak, but they dominated as they should. The only thing keeping them from B- or A- territory was the fact Beechwood dominated them badly. Most though Russellville as a Top 3 team all season and they lived up to the hype until that beat down. Beechwood was the best 1A team..but IMHO Hazard,...

Dang.... A C+ for a young team that reached the Semi's and only lost by a TD? I was thinking a B+... probably nothing less than a solid B

Of that list I would cut immediately: Cincy- Too small, not enough prestige Indiana- Middle of the pack and limited shots at the Pros Ole Miss- Pending NCAA Sanctions imminent Miss State- The SEC West is brutal..your best bet is always an 8 win season and missing a bowl is highly likely Syracuse- Just not relevant Depending On His Aspirations For Education I Would Cut (in order): Purdue- Only if he wants to be an engineer..lower tier...

Alabama seems like the slam dunk but I am going to throw curve ball. If you come on board you are probably automatically coming on board behind two other All-Americans and you are also going to have another All-American getting signed next season looking to take your spot. If you feel confident you can work and be the best player on the roster it is a no brainer. No school offers a better chance at a National Title or a Professional...

I think this example is more of the byproduct of a the 4 year average enrollment more than anything. CAL is a trending school and becoming a hot commodity in East Louisville as a place to send kids. I am sure last year's enrollment is significantly higher than 3 years ago and even more higher than 4 or 5 years ago. Belfry's enrollment has plummeted over the past four years due to the Coal Industry being decimated. It fought valiantly for a...

Total It's actually funny seeing the disparity of Belfry vs. Central and then CAL in that program. Central's enrollment is well over 1000 students but Central is an outlier because it is a Nursing Magnet School where a much larger percentage of the enrollment is female.

One thing I found surprising: KHSAA 2A CAL's enrollment listed in the program: 660 3A Belfry's enrollment listed in the program: 634 My guess is this may be an indicator that one of those two, if not both, may be flipping classifications come the next alignment.

I have said it before and will say it again... people who think "recruiting" and transfers are bad in Kentucky has no clue compared to what goes on in major football states such as Georgia, Florida, Texas, etc

I would say they are the ONLY HS Facility in the State with LED Sports Lighter That's really cool and a wise move (especially with all the gripes about glare over the years). Out of personal curiosity I would like to know which MFG they used.

Not to be rude...but should that even matter for Taylor County? If this was a noted top level program who has been at a championship level then definitely I think it has merit for questioning, but this is Taylor County where a 2nd Round playoff appearance is a big deal. If they Administration feels Foley gives them the best chance to advance their program and is the best option for candidates out there then more power to them. I view it...

Highlands is classic. Hoptown works as well. Harlan County I loved better when it had the bear paw by itself.. trying a little too hard now. Always liked Henry Clay and their use of script with a nice color scheme I hate that I like Hancock County because it is kind of loud, but doggone it I must admit it works for me Iroquois may be a bottom five helmet without a better explanation pending.

Louisville Central is the X-factor Had Scroggins stayed I would say they would easily be a Top 10 team with the young talent and experience they return. With the new coach being an unknown commodity I honestly don't know what to expect.
