  1. Merriam-Webster's online definition of the word "disease": an impairment of the normal state of the living animal or plant body or one of its parts that interrupts or modifies the performance of the vital functions, is typically manifested by distinguishing signs and symptoms, and is a response to environmental factors (as malnutrition, industrial hazards, or climate), to specific infective agents (as worms, bacteria, or viruses), to inherent defects of the organism (as genetic anomalies), or to combinations of these factors Says nothing about a condition having to be contagious to be a disease.
  2. Said statements were NOT made in the sports section, they were made in the comment line -- whose very existence the Ledger sports department is vehemently and vocally against. Also, although no one asked, we think Chris O'Hearn should be able to stay at Mason County as long as he chooses, and that most other reasonable people do as well.
  3. Nope. Cardinal rule is, don't blame the messenger. Got calls in to the Grant AD and coach Siple now... waiting for their confirmation.
  4. FWIW, on the KHSAA site Bracken County and Grant County's directory pages both have no coach listed for football. That would seem to indicate the process is moving along.
  5. "Leaked" was probably a poor choice of words. By that I meant whoever tipped you (or whoever tipped that person) that this process was going on although not yet complete, which some posters/community members accepted as confirmation that it was official.
  6. I don't know that there would have been any drama if it hadn't been leaked before it was official/confirmed. At any rate, as the Maysville paper said on Tuesday, he has applied at Grant County and has not yet been OFFICIALLY hired. That's all I can say that we know on the record.
  7. As of 20 seconds ago (11 p.m. Wednesday), he is not the coach at Grant County.
  8. I personally texted Siple Monday night to confirm and he told me at that time he did NOT officially have the job. SO, do with that info what you will.
  9. We were told the whole tournament was pushed back a day. Our bad.
  10. If that's true, that 1 percent is the loudest and most willing to complain to the paper's administration of the entirety of Mason County. You should see my inbox/phone messages ... and the comment line, lol.
