You keep referring to "liking the results", and that the subject of best two out of 3 is only coming up because people have an issue with the result. I don't think I've heard anyone complain about this year's result, nor have a heard anyone really ever complain about the results over the last several years. Where in this thread has anyone complained about X winning or Highland's getting a raw deal? 2 out 3 only comes up in baseball because...

I wouldn't be opposed to 2 out 3. It's not about spectators not liking the result. And due to time and calendar restraints, you'll never see a 3 out of 5. It eliminates the flukiness of baseball, and gives a better measure of who is the better team, as it exposes pitching depth (or lack thereof). The problem is it further widens the gap between large and small schools. I believe there are a few states that do best 2 of 3 through parts of...

rjs4470 replied to a thread Big Green Egg in BGP Break Room
The Big Green Egg has been on my radar for a while. My Traeger died though, and I need to replace it first. I'm thinking more along the lines of getting one of the smaller Eggs, maybe the medium sized one, as it can use any accessory made for the full sized Eggs, and is more than big enough for my needs. My youngest is heading to college, and it will be just me and my wife and occasionally a few friends, so I don't need to be able to cook 20...

Not too long ago, a family member of mine posted a list of all family members who have served, dating all the way back to a handful of relatives that served in the Civil War. No one that would be recognized as famous, but someone in my family closely related to me (a great Uncle of some sort, or child of a great Uncle) has served in every conflict since the Civil War. Several have died in combat, and others bore the scars of war. My Great...

I don't think Phil gets any real heat or punishment for what he did. I think you might see the rule get addressed and changed sometime soon. What he did goes against the spirit of the game, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not that big of a deal. It didn't affect the outcome of the tourney, and will leave the mind of the public pretty quickly. Phil will remain a popular draw, and let's be honest, his time has really just about passed....

I could be wrong, but it looks like all but one (Rite Aid)of these are small, privately owned pharmacies. Probably one or two in every small town in the county, none of which likely do big volume. In most larger, more populated areas, these small pharmacies have been pushed out by the national brands. I'm guessing that's why there are so many for such a small population.

Song ringtones, for whatever reason, annoy me whenever I hear them on someone else’s phone. My phone stays on silent most of the time as I’m in meetings much of the day. When I do have my ringer on, I use one of the basic default rings already loaded in the phone. Even when my ringer is on, it’s always turned down to at least half volume. Loud ring tones (regardless of what it is) also bother me. I guess this is one of my few “crabby old...

I don't mind watching the pros struggle on the golf course. But the US Open, is often ridiculous. When the course is tricked up this much, and good shots turn into bad shots so regularly, it's not about how good your are, but how lucky you are.

Phil missed a putt, and rather than let run off the green, he ran it down and hit it back toward the hole while it was still moving. I’ll admit, I’ve done this before.....but I’m not a pro golfer playing in front of millions at this country’s biggest tournament. Been preparing weeks for my youngest sons graduation party today. Wrapping up some last minute errands after taking care of a mile long honey-do list to get the house and yard ready. Time for a quick nap before everyone starts arriving.

I mulch from day one. The only times I don’t mulch is if for some reason the grass has gotten really high or is really wet. My new mower has a feature where I can either mulch everything, or I can set the mower up to partially bag and partially mulch. I haven’t used it yet, but I’ve read where it works well.

So we only ban certain information. Just the stuff that might be more dangerous to the public, because of the handful of people that might draw inspiration from it or use it incorrectly. Even if it interferes a little with our basic rights.

Well, the only way to test it is to restrict the press for say the next 10 years to test the theory. Are you willing to give up the basic right of freedom of the press for the next decade or so or maybe forever? It just shocks me to hear people who fight so hard and feel so strongly about certain rights, to be so willing to give up other basic rights to “protect society. Isn’t that ironic??

Can you imagine the conspiracy theories, rumors and misinformation that would come out of these events if we left basic info like that out of the reporting? The American public is too smart, and too thirsty for information. If the media didn’t put it out there, someone else would, and who knows how accurate it would be. The only way to control the information is to release it all. The assumption here is that the stories inspire others to do...

The black mites have been a recent thing. I've been gardening here in NKY since 2001, and eggplant did well for the first 10 years or so. Then the black mites showed up, and the only success I've had is growing eggplant on my deck in containers. I decided to try doing them in the garden again after a few years on the deck, and taking last year off. Sure enough, the mites are back, and the eggplant are doing terrible. It's funny, those mites...

I've scaled back this year. Just 15 tomato plants, Jalapeno, Bell, and Sweet pepper plants,3 eggplants, and some zucchini. I've decided it's just not worth my time and effort to grow green beans, corn, winter squash etc. All are doing well, except the eggplant. I always get these black mites, and I didn't spray with Sevin soon enough, and there's not much left to them. Hopefully they'll come back.

Agreed. Not that Marshall County is bad, but there are many better basketball situations than Marshall County. Think about it, he’s already played on a state championship team. If it was all about basketball, he would have stayed at BG.

Absolutely. And the censoring of information from the media is a pretty slippery slope. We clamor for less of big brother, yet here we are asking someone else to decide what should and shouldn’t be shown regarding news stories.

So you should stay in a job, that for whatever reason, isn’t working out for you? Especially if you have an opportunity to improve some aspect of your life in changing jobs? Sorry, adults change jobs all the time (I’ve done it myself several times), and using this analogy as a reason why kids shouldn’t transfer doesn’t work.

If I had the answer as to what causes these events, believe me, I would have shared it by now. My comment about video games is simply based in logic (at least what in my sometimes convuluted mind seems logical). Violent events have occurred throughout time, many of which have been large scale genocide involving countless thousands of lives. For Pete's sake, we used to draw and quarter people who committed minor crimes. As a society we have...

Considering almost every kid born since roughly 1970 (including myself, my friends and my children) has grown up with video games, it wouldn't be a surprise if this kid did as well. But shooting zombies, playing war games, and trying to win a championship in Madden or NBA live isn't what's causing these events. If it were, we'd have tens of millions of people from the ages of 8 to 50 years old committing these crimes daily.

A good percentage of the people that do these crimes end up dead at the scene. I'm not sure the death penalty has ever prevented any crime. If you're at that point in the process deciding if a mass shooting is what you need to do, I don't think the fear of the death penalty is going to be the deciding factor as to whether you end up doing it or not. I'm not saying they shouldn't be punished harshly. But I don't think the punishment even...
