High tops do give great lateral support and traction. What they don't do is stop motion of the foot and ankle inside the shoe...specifically the lateral roll that causes most ankle injuries. Those rigid, lace-up style braces do help prevent that sort of injury.

The downside is that creates larger districts, and more blowout, bad matchups in district play, and giving teams who wish to schedule tougher out of district games less opportunity and flexibility to do so. And you'll still have playoff and finals blowouts.

I especially hate the last week of the season. The 10th game is almost across the board meaningless

I'm not a guy beating the scheduling drum like most. While I do think SK could schedule a little tougher, and would like to see them maybe take on a team from across the river, I'm not as bent out of shape about their schedule as others are. I do think SK is an appealing game for those teams because they would bring a lot of points for a win over them. But to be fair, no NKY team is playing those teams, and aside from Highlands, when they...

Big difference on both ends. Favre was a high 2nd round pick that the Packers traded a number one pick for. Majkowski was a pretty average QB who wasn’t going to be the long term guy in GB anyway. Favre was getting that job at some point in time. Sure we didn’t know that Favre would be as good as he ended up. But he was more of the QB of the future than the guy he replaced. Hundley is a late round draft pick sitting behind one of the...

Good luck getting coaches to participate in the voting. And I don't know that coaches are anymore qualified than any one else to vote. For example, how many coaches in NKY know anything about 3A teams?? Plus, I can guarantee there are enough grudges, feuds, and bias out there that politics would likely play a pretty large role in the voting. I also think the idea of monkeying around with the season in order to accommodate a "All Division...

I followed this advice from RM when my daughter had car trouble down there a couple years ago. Ultimately the car ended up not being worth fixing, but I was happy with the way this mechanic handled everything.

That happens to me in other sports, especially basketball. I get the lineup set, and forget to check it before it locks, and a guy ends up not playing. I was in a basketball contest last year where I finished top 10 with a guy in the lineup who ended up sitting. That cost me over a grand.

I had a Rodgers/Nelson stack in this contest (as well as a couple others) which obviously didn't work out so hot. I had one other lineups that scored over 145, and another score in the 130's so I came out ahead about $45. Been killing Hockey for the last two weeks, which is crazy, because I've never done well in hockey. I'll probably be scaling back my football play with NBA and Hockey going on now, since football has been a struggle this...

Again, in theory this sounds great. In reality though, I think these games would be disappointing at best. How do you get the coaches and players to even care, since the game means nothing? The game would be anti climatic after the state championship, and I can envision many players deciding against playing, especially those that are committed to play at the next level or that play basketball or wrestle. Plus after already playing 16 games+a...

It might be a neat concept, but what would they be playing for?? Not to mention the season is too long as it is. Adding this game would make a 16 game season for those 6 teams. How do you get fired up to play a game after the state championship for a game that really doesn't mean anything.

The guy Favre replaced wasn't great (although Majkowski wasn't awful either). Plus Roger's backup isn't as good as Favre was, not mention Rogers has potentially 4-5 more years left as a top 5 QB. In some cases, injuries forcing teams to play a new QB can be a good thing. But in this case, that's doubtful.

SK does play every team ahead of them on that list but Cov Cath. If they beat Ryle, they will have beaten them all but Cov Cath. So would being last on the list of “toughest schedule” really matter if you beat 8 of the 9 teams ahead you?

I’ve always done really well in football until this year. But yes, I’ve had my biggest wins in basketball. I’ve won a few GPP’s and had several big wins.

I hear people all the time say they hate him. I don’t get it at all. He’s one of the best in the business. In the Greater Cincinnati area, I am also shocked to hear so many people don’t like Collinsworth. I don’t get that either.

Had a better week. Up a little in Football and still cashing in Hockey. I've got a few tickets I won for the start of basketball, though I'm not expecting much since it's a two game slate.

What you saw is out of date. The rule changed for the 2013 season. Most of the time the 15 yard penalty will result in a first down. But it is not automatic. NFHS also removed the loss of down for OPI the same year.

Incorrect. The automatic first down for DPI was removed for 2013 (as well as the loss of down for OPI). Here is the slide deck for all the rule changes in 2013. https://www.sdcfoa.org/wp-content/uploads/2013-NFHS-Football-Rules-PowerPoint.pdf

Woodland beat Twenhofel 24-0, their 4th consecutive shutout. Campbell County beat Turkeyfoot 26-16. Woodland will play Campbell County for the Large School Championship at 6pm @ Holmes. Woodland won the first meeting 31-0, but Campbell County didn't have their QB for most of that game.

I know he was on the Football staff at Conner for several years, not sure if he still was this year. He's been a wrestling assistant for 4 or 5 years, and took over last year after Coach Badida retired. He was formerly the wrestling coach at Brossart, and was the head coach at Scott for several years. This is a big shocker, and he is very well known in the wrestling community here in NKY.

Can't do separate divisions in KY...not anywhere near enough private schools, and too big of an enrollment difference between the top two and the rest. Multipliers won't really fix the problem either, as it's the biggest private schools that most have the issue with. I just don't understand all the angst so many have on this issue. Even if you pulled the privates out, or somehow lessened their "advantage", you'd still likely have only a...
