I know it was a joke, or at least I was hoping it was. Regardless, slavery isn't an easy subject to joke about, and I think you missed the funny zone this time.

Didn't we do the same on this board?? They discussed it because it was newsworthy. You couldn't open your Facebook or Twitter page without seeing something about it almost the whole football season. ESPN talked about it because the whole country was talking about it.

Are you really comparing your mom and dad giving you lots of chores and work to do, to slavery?? I'm guessing your childhood was at least a little better than being a slave.

Derrick Price (not that anybody around here would care or know who he was) was the RB. Billy Hess was the wideout and return guy. He was small too, but got a real long look with the Eagles, and had a great preseason. Buddy Ryan ended up cutting him though. The PSAC has always had some very good teams. Indiana PA, West Chester, Bloomsburg, E. Stroudsburg, Millersville (who offered me, but I turned them down to play baseball) were all very...

I had a preferred walk on to play football at West Chester, but ultimately decided to play baseball because I thought I had a chance to play pro ball....found out pretty quickly I couldn't. WCU was very solid in football during those years...I was there from 1988-1992. A couple guys spent some time in NFL camps...the QB and his main target were very good. One other guy, Lee Woodall ended up having a nice NFL career with the 49ers. Small world

Played D1 baseball at West Chester University back when they were still D1. Turned down a couple D2 football rides (California Pennsylvania and Millersville).

And just think, had Cirie not been in that challenge, she wouldn't have gotten that moment. After Circe finishes, and ends up exhausted, Jeff calls in a boat to take them in, and Sarah gets a chance to grab the advantage.

I'm guessing it was pretty easily tracked. Which I think is why they determined pretty quickly that the threats weren't credible. They likely just had to have all their ducks in a row to make the arrest, which took a couple days.

He's still an average hitter at best that strikes out a ton and is by all accounts a below average defender. And he'll be 30 in August and is still in A ball. It's a nice story. He's a good dude and puts butts in seats. And I'd love to see him make it. But the chances are slim at best.

And conversely, conservatives now aren't worried about the debt, since it was a big talking point over the last 8 years?? The arguments don't change. It's just that whoever is doing the arguing depends on who is in charge at the moment.

I think they are just throwing as many curveballs at these players as possible. No real reason to have Exile island now that the tribes are merged. I really don't know that the players finding out Exile wasn't so bad for Debbie, would have had as big an impact as many think.

Tai's two idols and his ability in endurance contests make him a strong possibility. And he's kind of flying under the radar...if he can hold on to both idols til the end, he can use one to save somebody along with himself. I think things are setting up well for Sarah, although no one has ever used the vote advantage correctly. So glad Debbie is gone. Kind of ironic too, after Cocharan emphasized to her to never feel comfortable.

Strange all around. It's not a correct call by the umpire, but it's also one of the weirdest pre-pitch routines I've heard of a batter doing. I'm trying to visualize what the batter would do to "line himself up" by stepping on the plate, and it just seems weird. 35 years of baseball and I've never seen or heard of a batter doing that as a pre-pitch routine. Either way, an umpire tells you not to do something and you keep doing it anyway,...

I've seen guys throw it as a change up, but I've never seen any high schooler throw it as a primary pitch. I caught a guy in college who threw sidearm and used a knuckleball. First bullpen session of my freshman year I didn't even get my glove on the first few knuckles.

10 years ago in my mid to late 30's I could have done a few...tackle an RB in a contained Okie drill, throw one past Tebow, return a serve from Venus, and stop a hockey shot. Now, I might still be able that get one by Tebow...I could still touch the low to mid 80's a few years ago and he swings and misses at a lot of pitches....he's bound to miss one I throw up there. EDIT: Forget the Venus thing... just saw her average serve is still...

My cocky, arrogant side says I can. My realistic side says probably not. All I know for sure is I've played in my high school alumni game for almost 10 years now, and once I hit my mid 40's, while I can still go yard in BP (I won the pregame HR contest 2 years ago), in game action I've gotten AB's against recent college grads, and it's been a struggle to make solid contact, and I've only managed to scrape out a couple hits over the last 5...

At least if I'm looking fastball, if I keep my hands back, I can adjust to a hook. If I'm looking curve, with my diminished bat speed, no way will I be able to catch up with a fastball. Regardless, the only way I even have a chance is if he makes a mistake, whether it's a hanging curve or a fastball that gets too much of the plate.

Nothing hush, hush, no cover ups at all. Parents were informed right away and police investigations have determined the threat isn't credible. Schools/the school board have no control over idiots who like to send these threats. My kid hasn't missed a day, and I'm confident due diligence regarding these threats has been done.

I've never played a professional game and haven't managed a game above 16u Southwest Ohio. I do have one year as a D1 grad assistant. I've also never managed a large group of guys that are making way more money than me. I'd say there's zero chance I'm able to pull the strings better than a Low A minor league manager, let alone a big league manager.

That's kind of what I've been saying. Even in my prime, baseball playing college days, I don't think my chances would have been good. Right now, it's likely somewhere between slim and none.

My approach would be to sit on fastballs and either hope I get one early, or get into a favorable count where I'd have a good chance at getting a fastball. If I get a good swing early in the count or if he gets behind me, I might be able to square something up and have a chance. If he got ahead of me though, I'm probably dead in the water. At my current skill level though, and only having maybe 10 at bats against live pitching in the last...

Here's the problem. He's almost 30. Low "A" ball is a long way from the bigs. I love the story, but he's going to have to get a lot better, very quickly in order to ever make it to the bigs and have any kind of a career. The Jordan situation is similar, in that both are really too old and just simply not good enough to ever have a chance at making it.

I get it. That really doesn't answer the original question though. If he's just tossing fastballs at you down the middle, putting a few balls in play or even getting a hit or two isn't that big of deal. That's just BP. Although, I'll still say, if you haven't been swinging a bat against live pitching, it's still going to be tougher than most of you think, especially if he is trying to get you out.
