I lost two really nice ash trees to the Emerald Ash Borer. Cut them down last July. Noticed the first signs of trouble in 2014 and by 2016 they were completely dead.

Games, equipment, and players change and evolve over time. Players are also more skilled, bigger, stronger, better trained than ever before. Couple that with the evolution in equipment, and we are where we are currently at. It's not one thing, one piece of equipment that has "suddenly" made the game more dangerous. It's been a slow evolution. I get the idea of personal freedom. But part of the reason why games have rules is to create a...

I doubt you'll ever see it in baseball for infielders, although I do see a possibility of requiring something for pitchers. Too much tough guy, macho, testosterone stuff in men's sports. And I'd probably have been one of the first to have complained about being forced to wear something. I caught and wore the half skull style catchers helmet from high school, all the way through college and semi-pro which left my ears and back of my head...

This is about what he has proven he is to this point. Outside of a couple hot streaks, he's a .220 hitter in A ball, which simply isn't good enough and would get any other 30 year released.

Corner infielders in softball play much closer to the batter. And the pitcher is much closer. However, even though I'm a baseball guy, and can't imagine wearing a mask, I see no legitimate reason why baseball players shouldn't wear the either.

Certified does get you longer warranty coverage, IF you happen to have a problem. Although, As long as the car you are buying is only a year or two old with low miles, I'm not sure the premium you pay for a certified vehicle is worth it.

Haven't bought a new car in over 20 years. Always buy used, no more than a couple years old, and low mileage. That way I've got warranty coverage for at least a couple years. I'd say I've only gotten one car that had any problems out of the 7 or so cars, and it was a transmission problem that was under warranty. And for what it's worth, we still have that car. Cars are so reliable these days, that I just don't think many used, low mileage...

Uber would likely be expensive as I'm guessing a Packers game would be high demand. A $45 parking pass sounds like a no brainer.

I'm guessing (never played soccer and don't watch it much at all) that they physical demands of refereeing are part of the problem. Lots of running, lots of ground to cover, lots of players with only 2-3 refs.

Still can't believe youth football starts so early around here. I'm convinced that such an early start is one of the issues hurting numbers.

Correct. But if you make that decision, you better win. Because if you don't the criticism will be harsh, and you'll quickly get accused of being lazy, too soft on players, or not doing what needs to be done to be successful. It would take a very successful coach to lead the way in a movement in this direction. I don't see any coach that would be willing to take that chance. Stopping early in June when things are voluntary, is way different...

We absolutely start too early. Our go date where I'm from was always around August 10th, first game the Friday after Labor day. Nowadays, without two-a-days, August 1st is probably a good start time.

This thread has had me listening to Foreigner the last few days. Honestly, hadn't thought much about them at all over the years, and they weren't on any of my playlists. I'd forgotten how good Lou Gramm was, and while they were certainly more of a pop band (I'm a metal guy), they were certainly part of the soundtrack to my early teenage years. I had also completely forgotten that my favorite Foreigner song "Fool for you Anyway" is one of the...

Never said he wasn't getting better. He's gotta do it over a longer period of time than two weeks. His biggest issue at this point is simply time. At his age, he's going to have to get a lot better, a lot quicker in order to have any meaningful career at the MLB level.

Not when you combine his stats at Columbia. He's only hitting .238. Again, he's on a nice run, but he's still got a long way to go.

I don't like that either, although there is at least a penalty (the free throw) and it only stops the game momentarily. Too many stoppages interrupts the flow and makes the game less fun to watch. Reducing timeouts improves the current situation. It makes the game better and more watchable.

Sure...it can be. There are lots of reasons to call a time out. However, with each team calling time outs after every possession or two during the last 1-2 minutes of the game, the game borders on unwatchable, not to mention the fact it takes forever to play those last two minutes.

Even more importantly, they can now only take two timeouts in the last two minutes. Hopefully this will put more flow back into the game and keep the last two minutes taking forever to finish.

And those people are also an extremely small subset of the population...not nearly enough for me to feel the need to give them tough love or "fix" their way of thinking. That being said, gender roles are constructs are created by society, not biology. Sex and gender are two different things.

I get it. I, on the other hand, don't see a need to be unreasonable toward a simple request. To each his own. Again, I've dealt with countless people, and never encountered this even once. If and when it ever happens, I'm just going to be nice about it and move on.

Again, I don't profess to understand it. But, I just don't see how it's so hard to either respect someone's wishes or to just simply not interact with the person if I don't have to. Who know's maybe in the grand scheme of things, they are actually correct. Maybe there are 50 or 100 different genders. Gender roles are a social construct anyway...so what if there end up being a few others than what we are traditionally used to I've never...
