Looks like this could be for real though this time. The Silver Grove Board of Education has voted in favor of the merger, and is now just waiting on Campbell County to accept. There seem to be a few sticky points left concerning Silver Grove teachers and board members. Angry tears in Campbell County: Silver Grove school board seeks merger

Which means you can have a quadruple double (done 4 times in the NBA) and a quintuple double (which has never been done)

I’d imagine there’s a lot of pressure that comes with the Moeller job, but I could have the best high school football job in the world, and I’d likely jump ship if I had a shot to coach in the NFL.

Well you could say it teaches you to finish what you start, to persevere, or stay tough in the face of adversity. Or, even better, why does every game of every sport have to be treated as a learning experience? Sometimes, if not most of the time, a game is just that...a game. Are there lessons to be learned sometimes? Sure. But making all high school sporting events into all important, life changing events, really takes some of the fun out...

This. Rams/Pats just wasn’t a sexy matchup, or one that the masses cared about. Ratings are reflective of the matchup, not the state of the game.

Yep. And they are both hammers. Liv was the favorite to win a middle school state title in her weight class. But the Middle School Tourney was held on the same day, and they opted to wrestle in the girls event. There are several other very competitive girls...Lauren Walton became the first girl to win a middle school state championship yesterday. Courtney Pittman from Anderson County has done well at national events, and won the girls title...

It's just that there were a total of 14 state champs crowned at the tournament, with representation from all over the state. Technically girls wrestling, isn't an official thing (and let's face it...many forget guys wrestling is a thing too), as these girls are all members of the boys teams. The KHSAA hasn't recognized girls as a separate entity. Numbers went from roughly a couple dozen last year, to well over 100 this year. And that number...

Don't forget the Messerly girls from Ryle, who also won titles, and have been dominant at the middle school level competing against boys, and are amongst the best pound for pound wrestlers at that level. The number of girls in the sport has exploded this year, and will help wrestling remain viable as a sport going forward. One note, this is NOT a KHSAA event. This tournament was sponsored and ran by the Kentucky Coaches Asscociation.

This is really evident in NKY, where there is no real "paper of record". Local elections get little or no coverage, and voter turnout is putrid, and amongst the lowest in the state. I worked for Gannett from 2011-2015, and during my 4 years there, there was the constant fear of layoffs. I didn't work for Enquirer Media (the publishing company of The Cincinnati Enquirer), but did work in the building. And on the 17th floor, by the time I...

It's supposed to warm up by the weekend, but we are looking at extreme cold for the next 48-72 hours, and a 36 hour stretch of single digit temps. That's more than enough time for pipes to freeze in those conditions.

If you leave your outdoor faucet dripping you may end up with a big icicle. Hoses should be disconnected and I’ve always used one of those styrofoam covers. I can actually access my hose bibs connection from inside and will use a small space heater in the space on really cold days .

Like mcpapa, this means 11:50. I've always heard time told in this manner, or in ways similar to this. I've also heard it expressed "10 til 12". I know mcpapa and I are from roughly the same part of the country, but I didn't think this was just a regional expression.

The program is in good hands until a new coach is hired. The guys on Woolley's coaching staff are still committed to the program whether they are part of the new staff or not, and are making sure that things are as business as usual as they can be. It's pretty irresponsible for someone to post there is no off season program without absolutely confirming that's the case. Posting something like that can be damaging to a program that's been...

I'm certain Schilling's relationship with the media played an even bigger part in him not getting in, than Halladay's death had in him getting in. I do think this is the beginning of the resetting of some of the traditional numbers that pitchers needed to get in, especially wins. With 5 and even 6 man rotations, and most outings being 6 or 7 innings, pitchers simply aren't going to accumulate numbers like they used.

My first thought was that Halladay was more deserving than Schilling. But your comment made me go back and look at the numbers, and I'd have to say I agree with you. If Halladay is in, Schilling should absolutely be in.

Everybody who is calling plays in the NFL, at some point, had zero experience calling plays in the NFL. And anyone who is available that has experience, has likely been fired. Iíve got no issues hiring a first time coordinator.

I think where it could hurt is in the recruiting and keeping of officials. Most of these guys all have pretty high level jobs, that they probably wouldn’t walk away from. Also, full time implies to me 40 hours or more a week doing something. Where does that “something” take place? That means they all have to move or be on the road Monday-Friday. Given their nice day jobs, I don’t know that many are going to be willing I do that. I...

Maybe it would. I guess the question then, is what the currently do now in the offseason vs what you'd require them to do if they were full time. It's not like they'll be able to "practice" by officiating more games. And I think it would be incorrect to suggest that their not already full time in terms of commitment, for the job requirements that they have. Not to mention, I'm not sure that anything you do beyond officiating more, will...

I admit I wasn't a big fan of him or his delivery when he first started. Looking back, much of that was likely had more to do with my intense dislike of the Cowboys. But he blows me away every week with his insight, how he breaks down defenses, and how often he is on the money with predicting play calls or how an offense will attack. Plus his passion for the game is clear, and really makes watching the game more enjoyable.

That would be kind of pointless. "I called it the way I saw it on the field". End of press conference. And I don't think the letting a roomful of reporters badger them after a game will result in them doing a better job.

I guess my question is, how would it help? What does a “full time” official look like? What does making him full time allow him to do that an official isn’t currently able to do? To me, the phrase “full time official” is just a buzz word that doesn’t have much substance attached to it.

I keep hearing that, but will that really make officiating better? How does that eliminate missed calls like the one in the Saints game, or the phantom roughing the passer in the Patriots-Chiefs game?

I typically defend officials, however I’ve seen calls throughout the playoffs and in big games this year that leave me scratching my head. Last nights missed PI/defenseless receiver call in the Rams/Saints game might be the worst call at the worst time in the history of the league. Literally legacy changing for Brees and Payton and the Saints. And a “we blew that call” apology from the league isn’t good enough. I think we may be at the point...
