I think no matter how much you plan, or know about the game, I'm sure for many, all that goes out the window once they actually start playing. Being there, getting caught up in everything that's going on not only socially, but physically, I can see how people can end up making such obvious mistakes.

I hear you. I think what it does is it brings in the thought that you could completely punt a spot, because a very low number doesn't hurt you. Then throw in another super value or two that are often available and you could really jam in the stars. I'll need to give it some thought, and do some playing around. I had already put my lineup in tonight before you brought this up, but I normally don't play 2 game slates.

Mine hasn’t played a single snap (Bell). Fortunately, I drafted Conner who’s filled in nicely. I’m so hoping that the Steelers trade Bell and then I’ll have two top end RB’s.

I don't disagree with trying to make sure turf fields are used. I just think there's more to it, especially from a financial both in terms of cost of field use, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the first round is always held at Mills, and teams rotate hosting this round, because it's a huge fundraising opportunity. Using the double fields at Mills allows all the games in each division to be held at one site, and maximize revenue for...

Agree. When youíre behind and have to score, scoring is the most important part part. You canít manage the clock so much that it gets you out of rhythm. And if you mess around and donít score, it doesnít matter how much time you left for the Steelers. This loss is on the defense. The offense did their part with the late drive...the D has to step up and get a stop.

I heard the conditions were really bad. But again, they’ve been playing 10 games every weekend there since the beginning of August. And with the rains we’ve had, it’s not surprising it was a mess today. I don’t agree its embarrassing, because I really don’t know what you think they can do about it, as the weather, and number of games that need to played (which contribute to the wear and tear) is out of their control. Again, one of the big...

In defense of Mills. There aren’t going to be any grass fields that aren’t professionally maintained and that host 10 games every weekend that are going to look good this time of the year with the amount of rain we’ve had in this area. Heck, there are more than a few high school fields that are in terrible shape right now. Also, Mills wouldn’t be used as much as it is, if the schools that do have turf fields didn’t charge high fees to the...

Unfortunately, it’s a game they have to play. I’m sure neither team is happy they have to play each other every year.

While it isn’t all Eli’s fault, Eli is clearly just a shell of himself. He is virtually a statue, with zero ability to extend plays, or work outside of the pocket. He rarely pushes the ball downfield, despite having one of the best big play threats in the game to throw to. He’s also prone to fumbles. The Giants have playmakers. I get their line isn’t great, but benching Eli was the right decision last year, and committing to him last year...

Running a fake punt is no different than just going for it on 4th down, And Iíve got no real problem with that. I donít see a field goal as that big of a deal either. Itís not really running up the score, and would Campbell County really have felt any better if SK hadnít kicked the field goal? Iím a believer in not piling on and running it up, but this really doesnít bother me at all.

Correct. And I don’t know the specifics of this particular incident. However, in my experience, most of the terminations I’ve handled have not involved cases where I had to act quickly due to some gross offense.

And it should never be a surprise to the person getting fired. If you haven’t been honest with the person, and let them know their job is on the line and why, you’re setting yourself up for an awkward, possibly bad situation.

Thatís why I said ďI thinkĒ throughout my post. It is ďmy opinionĒ, and thatís how I choose to operate, and ask and require my assistants to operate the same way. And while you bring up a good point about the differences between sports and the corporate world, grabbing the face mask is illegal on the football field. If a player is prohibited from doing it while playing, and gets penalized (no matter how minor), why should it be ok for a coach...

Followed by “if all that’s true”. But it’s all good. I know there’s bad guys in the profession. And I also know it’s an emotional game, and people sometimes lose control. I still believe there are more good guys than bad guys in the business of coaching. Bottom line, I don’t think coaches should be able to get away with doing things to players that wouldn’t be acceptable in every day life on the job or in the classroom.

I’ll be happy to provide any evidence you want (there’s plenty I can show you that prove my “resume”) and your free to come observe my practices anytime or talk to any of my players. Sorry you don’t think I’m credible. Granted, I’ve made mistakes, and said things and done things that at times I look back on and regret, but I’ve never gotten physical with a player. Not all coaches act like jerks or get physical with players. None of my coaches...

Coached and played for 35 years. Was an all state football player in high school and I’ve coached at all levels from youth to high school. I’ve never grabbed a face mask or had mine grabbed by a coach for the purpose of getting someone’s attention. I have committed several facemask penalties.

Itís not ok. Itís a person of power exerting a form of physical control over another person. Would it be ok if your boss grabbed you by the tie and tugged you in close to get your attention or to reprimand you? Iíll never understand why we accept these forms of physical intimidation in sports, but never would in everyday society. Iíve coached and played football for over 35 years. And as a coach you donít need to be physically or verbally...

A pitch clock isn't going to bring new fans in, which is what they need. Shaving 10 minutes off an average game really isn't that big of a deal. If you think baseball is boring now, getting out of the game 15 minutes earlier isn't going to change that.

Channel 12 ran a story about this on the 11:00 news last night. There aren’t plans to cancel the regular season, but many of the injuries are “day to day” so there is no timetable as to when they will play again. Apparently several are concussions. So the season hasn’t been cancelled, but it sounds like they are taking this one week at a time.

32 schools in 6a. Only two, maybe 3 have a chance to win a state title, year in, year out. Yet SK gets beat up on this board year after year for "scheduling", program direction etc. What about the other almost 30 6a teams, most of which aren't as good as SK year in and year out? I'm not an SK apologist, or fan (in fact I'm far from it), but man, they have to be the favorite target for people to take shots at on BGP.
