I'm pretty sure these aren't school based teams (although boundaries are likely based on school districts and they are basically feeder teams to each school). I know one of the sticking points the Union Raiders, and Fort Thomas has had preventing them from joining the NKMSAA is that they would not limit team members to players just from their own school district. I wish Boone County Schools would just endorse middle school football. It...

There are always going to be some outliers in size in every division regardless of age. Almost all of the smaller schools in the middle school league have 6th graders playing with and against 8th graders so it’s not a problem that’s unique to youth football. Realistically, the youth leagues age guidelines should be in step with school grade level guidelines. When I was involved with the NKYFL, the age cutoff was in May. I’m not sure if...

I’m just relaying what I’ve seen over my 10 years of experience in regards to this. And there have certainly been exceptions....not every kid is the same.

The junior level is predominately 6th graders, with a few 5th graders on smaller teams, and a handful of 7th graders that make the age cutoff. By and large, if you are a 7th grader, you are too old to play in the NKYFL junior division.

I’m not talking about playing up a grade. I’m talking about those 7th graders that stay back and play with 5th/6th graders having trouble with the transition to playing with 8th graders the following year. Those 7th graders that decide to play in the NKYFL lose the transition year they would have by playing on a 7th grade middle school team.

Roughly. Doesn’t change the fact though that they go from playing against 5-6th graders to playing against 8th graders the next year. There’s a pretty big difference between junior level teams and the teams in the 7th grade division. Playing down a grade in the NKYFL as a 7th grader makes the jump to middle school football tougher the next year. Trust me, I’ve seen it first hand how difficult it is for those kids in that age group to...

With at least 7 schools having a 6th/7th team, (and likely more this year) I think you’ll see more kids make the jump to middle school ball simply out of convenience and cost. Middle school football is 1/4 the cost, and most games are not played on Saturdays. I don’t think the junior division will be in any trouble, but some teams will feel a pinch.

With the middle school league now having a 7th grade division (and some schools have a JV schedule as well) I think it would be a mistake to let your child play play NKYFL Junior ball as a 7th grader. Playing against 5th/6th graders is not good prep for a kid who will have to play against 8th graders the following year.

They are closer to accurate than the 4.5’s you hear about all the time. 40 times are like pitchers fastballs in high school. Most of what you hear is overstated.

Itís been heading that way for quite a few years. Iíve been hearing that several more schools will be adding football and playing in the NKMSAA next year, as well as several other teams joining other leagues across the river.

If there is, there shouldn't be. Last night's game wasn't on Shurmur. No, the Viking's offense didn't play great. But the Viking's defense was terrible. Shurmur did a great job all year with a career backup QB, an undrafted #1 receiver, a mid round #2 receiver, and losing their number 1 franchise back in game 4.

I'm with you on that. While I don't like teams, trash talking before games, game plans, execution, and personnel mean more to the outcome of a game than the a team getting fired up because some jackwagon on the other team said something. Especially with a veteran, disciplined team like the Patriots.

I realize this isn't uncommon. And I will freely admit, I haven't used one. But I did do some research when we re-did our laundry room. And as I've stated, in my opinion, the potential drawbacks (not being able to control the amount of moisture and lint) outweigh the potential benefits. Those drawbacks aren't speculation. Dryer exhaust is very, very moist, and full of lint, some of which is not filterable.

If you were by yourself, do you think you'd be doing enough laundry for this to really make a difference?? I just think there are better, more efficient ways to accomplish the same thing, without the drawbacks. For example, getting a whole home humidifier installed solves the moisture problem more efficiently, and with more control over the humidity level, and only cost a few hundred bucks to have installed.

Yes, the Pat’s are certainly the favorites. However, this Eagles team has kept defying the odds, and proving the experts wrong. Matchup up wise, as an Eagles fan, I like the matchup vs NE better than had they played the Jags. Defensively, New England doesn’t scare me, and the Eagles just scorched what many felt was the best defense in the NFL. And the Eagles have been very good defensively all year. I know it’s going to be a tough mountain...

Awful may be a little strong of a word. I’m thinking it’s probably all relative. It may not be worth a million $’s. But it’s probably like the old saying...even a bad day of fishing is still a pretty good day.

I find it extremely annoying, especially when they’ve just watched me checkout. That being said, I worked in retail for over 15 years, some of that time in Loss Prevention. And I completely understand why they do it. Heck, we used to basically pat employees down (visually..empty your pockets, let me inspect your jacket or bags) every time they left the building. Don’t take it personally, and don’t make a bigger deal of it than it actually...

First, if you have a gas drier, you don’t want to do this, as the exhaust vent is also the combustion vent, and you don’t want those contents (carbon monoxide) venting in your house. As far as electric driers, I imagine you could do this, but still I think there are more issues than it’s worth. One is figuring out where to direct the exhaust to get the most effectiveness. Second, drier exhaust is full of moisture and while some moisture is...

Are you saying that others from states where basketball is classed wouldn't answer the same question the same way?? Do you think KY football players, and track/cross country athletes don't value their state titles because there are multiple classes? I get it. It's a great story once every couple decades when a small team makes a nice run. But the landscape of High School sports has changed dramatically over the last few decades. There is...

Sorry, but participation trophies aren’t a recent phenomenon, and classing sports doesn’t mean everyone get a trophy. It’s a lazy argument, and one that doesn’t hold any water.

And Delaware only has about 70 or so basketball playing schools. I’m guessing Alaska probably has even less. There no logical reason for KY not to class all the major sports. Just because you’ve always done something one way, doesn’t mean it’s the right or best way.

As others have mentioned, Vegas isn't worried about being right. They just need enough action from both sides of the line to make sure they win enough "juice". They aren't geniuses at picking games correctly They are geniuses at making money of people betting sports.

It’s been a couple years, but last time I went it cost $49.99/ person although you can catch discounts every now and then. Food is very good. My recommendation is to be patient. The really good cuts of meat come around less often. No need to eat any chicken especially. Hold out for what you really want and take your time. The salad bar is big, and very good too and can at least keep you busy while waiting for the good stuff. It is all you...
