Just imagine the thought process required to decide that a container of water to be used as a handwashing station was an acceptable solution to the sink not working.

I agree it's a silly comment. But sit in the stands any Friday night, or at an NFL or college game, and you'll see plenty of fans that are there for the violence, and bemoan the fact the trend is to make the game safer. And comments like "is the game getting soft" or saying football isn't tough anymore when rules are put in place to make the game safer, is akin to being "ok" with a few guys getting hurt despite the fact that some of those...

I coach football and I hear that term all the time. And yes, you need to be aware of your surroundings and what's going on around you. And you should be aware prior to the play if there is a player in position who could possibly crack you. But if you're focused on your keys then the ball, you simply cannot be looking around for somebody who may be blindsiding you. You can't be looking in every direction all at the same time. "Head on a...

If Scott can stay healthy, they will be much better than many expect. There is arguably more talent on this team than the regional final team from two years ago.

No issues with the rule. These are dangerous plays. I've never understood the mentality that's it's fun to blindside or to watch another player get blindsided. It requires no skill to decleat a guy who isn't looking.

I would agree, that's being silly. No way are pitchers taking it easy on him so he can stick around. Those pitchers are fighting for their careers at that level, no way are they giving anyone anything. That being said, despite Tebow's recent hot streak, he's still a 30 year in A ball hitting .250. That is a long way from being a major leaguer, let alone a star.

It wouldn't change positioning. Softballs are less tightly wound than baseballs. Add in the obvious physical differences between women and men, and the ball simply isn't hit as hard. The shorter bases scales the game back to fit those two factors. Infielders would still be playing in to prevent infield hits and bunts. 90 foot bases would also put second base into mid center field with the average 200 ft fences. 90 foot bases would really...

Absolutely. Stringer would have started and still been a star at SK. Castleman would have been a 4 (maybe 5 year) starter at Scott.

I'd bet anything you could get a copy from Amazon, either digitally or the actual book. Might cost a few bucks, but considering the work you've already done, plus the drive to and from to pick it up and return it, it might be easier and worth a few bucks to just buy it. I can't even remember the last time I checked a book out of the library.

But I guess it should be up to the citizenry (or insurance companies) to determine who is noble enough to receive treatment. Unless of course you are really rich, in which case, you won't be held accountable for bad decisions since you'll be able to afford to pay for care. Because the rich deserve treatment more than the poor. I cheated on a spelling test or two in elementary school. I hope that doesn't disqualify me from future medical...

Glioblastoma is a horrible diagnosis. My Uncle was diagnosed with the same tumor in January of last year. He had noticed he was having trouble with his memory and had started stumbling over his words and figuring out things to say. He had almost immediate surgery, and the tumor was completely removed. He did well for several months, but by July the high doses of steroids and drugs used to control the tumor was making him sick, causing weight...

Yep. His previous case should have no bearing on what he is currently serving time for. I get that people want to see him in jail. I believe he did kill Nicole and Goldman. But he was acquitted, and you can't hold him in prison for something else just because you think he's guilty of murder.

Completely agree with the quirkiness of baseball and how talent doesn't always translate to championships. And I wasn't trying to imply that was the reason he's no longer at Beechwood. I also never saw any reason to believe a change was necessary. Just saying, I'm not completely surprised that something like this happened, considering the abundance of talent Beechwood has had while not winning any regional titles. Administrations and the...

Not really a long time coach (at least at Beechwood). I believe he was only there 5 or 6 years at most. I'm not sure it was spur of the moment either. With the talent that has been there (Stringer, Combs, Slusher, and others), it's surprising Beechwood hasn't won a region in the time period he was there. I'd say that's reason enough that this move probably wasn't a surprise.

Games, equipment, and players change and evolve over time. Players are also more skilled, bigger, stronger, better trained than ever before. Couple that with the evolution in equipment, and we are where we are currently at. It's not one thing, one piece of equipment that has "suddenly" made the game more dangerous. It's been a slow evolution. I get the idea of personal freedom. But part of the reason why games have rules is to create a...

I doubt you'll ever see it in baseball for infielders, although I do see a possibility of requiring something for pitchers. Too much tough guy, macho, testosterone stuff in men's sports. And I'd probably have been one of the first to have complained about being forced to wear something. I caught and wore the half skull style catchers helmet from high school, all the way through college and semi-pro which left my ears and back of my head...

This is about what he has proven he is to this point. Outside of a couple hot streaks, he's a .220 hitter in A ball, which simply isn't good enough and would get any other 30 year released.

Corner infielders in softball play much closer to the batter. And the pitcher is much closer. However, even though I'm a baseball guy, and can't imagine wearing a mask, I see no legitimate reason why baseball players shouldn't wear the either.

Certified does get you longer warranty coverage, IF you happen to have a problem. Although, As long as the car you are buying is only a year or two old with low miles, I'm not sure the premium you pay for a certified vehicle is worth it.

Haven't bought a new car in over 20 years. Always buy used, no more than a couple years old, and low mileage. That way I've got warranty coverage for at least a couple years. I'd say I've only gotten one car that had any problems out of the 7 or so cars, and it was a transmission problem that was under warranty. And for what it's worth, we still have that car. Cars are so reliable these days, that I just don't think many used, low mileage...

I'm guessing (never played soccer and don't watch it much at all) that they physical demands of refereeing are part of the problem. Lots of running, lots of ground to cover, lots of players with only 2-3 refs.
