Agree. I go to all and celebrate all. Who are we to judge the significance of a child's accomplishment? How do we know the work put in to get there. And finally, what if this one "graduation/promotion" is the last one they ever have? You never know what tomorrow will bring. #noregrets

On 8th grade graduations especially from parochial schools---this is a tradition that goes back a long, long time. Way back when, school ended for many at 8th grade. My dad is 89 and he recalls that not everyone in his small 8th grade class went on to high school. For many students, they had to get jobs to help the family, or work on the farm, or take care of younger siblings. So 8th grade graduation marked a big time in their lives.

We went over Christmas. Stayed at the Carribean Beach resort. The fast passes were amazing. Will also offer this up---if you have someone in your party that has some kind of medical issue preventing them from waiting in a long line for hours, get a copy of the medical diagnosis from your doctor. We did this. Then at each park we went to guest services with the paperwork, allowing us to get a couple additional fast passes for the family each day....

I think they are great fun. The problem is that they are also very distracting to other students. For the purpose of "occupying" the fidgety student, I prefer the fidget cube.

For the Harlan Coben fans---I enjoyed reading this piece: The following article originally appeared in the Newark Star Ledger CORKYA tribute to my mom By HARLAN COBEN Sometime in the early Seventies – I can’t remember the exact year – my mother became the first female umpire in New Jersey Little League. My mother was known to one and all as Corky. Like that. One word: Corky. Like Cher or Fabio. And as befitted a one-word moniker, Corky...

Same. Have always thought this. It is a form of bullying--draped with the label of "prank", to make it all seem ok.

Great thread! Went there this past Christmas. Had a wonderful time. Yes--it was crowded. But we planned well with Fast Passes and were able to do everything that we wanted to do. The Christmas lights and decorations were so spectacular---so much detail. So glad that I had the opportunity to see it all at Christmas time. We stayed at the Caribbean Beach resort. Transportation was fine. We were right near a bus stop. Years ago we stayed at the...

Makes me sick to my stomach to think about. I would be the one you see on the news breaking into the pharmacy to get insulin for my boys.

I'm staying. Moving and uprooting kids is not easy. Been there, done that. Hardest thing I ever did and the most difficult time in my life. Whenever I hear that someone has to move/relocate, my heart breaks a little for them. Not because I will miss that person, but because I know how hard it is to leave your world behind, and start over.

We have the same 2 entries. The 1972 Olympic Hostage situation was a dark, scary time that I vividly recall. I was living 2 hours away from Munich at the time, in Nurnberg. I remember the pictures of the masked men. "Terrorism" then became an ugly reality to be feared. Bomb threats and school evacuations became routine.
