  1. I don’t think she ever committed to NKU. She had an offer from the previous staff but I don’t know if the current staff offered her. She had taken some official visits to DI and DII schools but decided LWC was where she wanted to attend school and play ball.
  2. First, congrats to CC on the win. I know virtually kid on both teams. This was Igo’s first game this season, she is not close to 100% yet. As she get healthier and gets a couple of games under her belt, the Cards will improve. As to the two, young women who quit at CC, I can promise you avoiding hard-work was not a factor in their decision. They are great kids who have never shied away from work or competition. Showing up and cheering for their school is indicative of their character and upbringing. These are still the 2 best teams in the region and the region title will be decided better these 2 plus Mason and Scott barring injuries.
  3. How about Alltech Arena at the Horsepark? Don't have to compete with collegiate schedules, parking is no issue and remains in central part of state.
  4. I can speak to Bradshaw situation and no I am not Bradshaw. He knew exactly what he was getting into with the time requirements. He has been a boys varsity head coach and served as the interim girls varsity head coach. The 30-40 minute drive from home to Brooksville had absolutely zero to do with him leaving the position after 1 year! If the drive was a concern, he would have NEVER applied for the position in the first place. Bradshaw is currently not coaching because he made the decision to stay out of coaching this season - he has had multiple offers and conversations with people who want him on their bench.
  5. In regards to the importance of JV and how it can be used to look for the future of program, you first have to look at the make-up of that particular team's varsity roster. For instance, if you look at GRC's roster this season most of the minutes were taken by 9 kids - 2 seniors, 1 junior, 4 sophomores, 1 freshmen and 1-7th grader so the impact of their JV team is not real high over the next couple of seasons because the varsity is so young. Mason County, on the other hand, is looking at their JV kids to make the jump to being heavy contributors on the varsity level next season because they graduate 8 seniors. So JV is important to get kids minutes on the floor for experience and evaluation but it can't always be used to compare potential future success because their is such a variance between schools.
  6. Anna Clephane and Lexie Stapleton from Scott; Taylor Clos and Mackenzie Schwarber from Campbell Co; Kennedy Igo, Shamaya Behanan, Maleaha Bell and Jasmine Flowers from GRC; Madison Kellione from Harrison Co; Kara Moran and AJ Reed from Mason Co; Kailee Finch from Paris; Kinley Ruf from Bracken Co
  7. GRC is taking the "Tour of Champions" today through all five of the elementary schools in Clark County. The team travels to each school for the elementary aged kids to greet the team and send them off with signs, cheers and goodies. For those that remember doing this with the 2014 team, they say it is one of the best memories they have from that trip. The team will be sent off from the high school tomorrow morning to make the trip to "The Bank"
  8. Simply using stats that have been posted: Mason County 16/48 33.3% FG 4/16 25% 3FG 17/21 81% FT 29 boards GRC 21/38 53.3% FG 4/12 33.3% 3FG 12/16 75% FT 19 boards
  9. Cutting and pasting out of a word document that is emailed to one person versus going to KHSAA site and looking up then sorting through 17 teams with at least 6-7 players each that could meet some of the requirement plus some stats aren't included on KHSAA.
  10. The report that was given is done by one person (voluntarily) for the region coaches association and sent out weekly to college coaches and media members (a total of almost 300 people). Coaches are asked to submit their stats weekly to that person to be compiled. If the coach does not submit the stats, their kids don't get included because it's really not feasible to go to KHSAA site and get the reported stats (which aren't always complete) for all 17 teams in the region. Additionally, this report contains stats that aren't submitted to KHSAA.
  11. currently: 9th region - 12 male; 5 female; 1 open 10th region - 12 male; 4 female; 1 open 11th region - 12 male; 4 female; 1 open
  12. In the pre-tourney info each region is assigned a hotel. The school must be located more than 40 miles away to be eligible for reimbursement from the KHSAA for hotel and meals. This is where some of the rub with teams exists. The hotels were not willing to work with teams (at least some). We stayed in a hotel with a team--KHSAA reimbursement is $13 per night per person in the official party (33 people). If you put 4 in a row that is only $52. The hotel we were in charged $140 per night so the school is on the hook for $88 per night. It should not cost teams that kind of $ to play in the state tourney! We were told that hotels were one of the biggest issues the KHSAA had with the event.
  13. The region draw is scheduled for Saturday morning. The quarterfinal games will be Monday and Tuesday (2/29 & 3/1) with the semifinals Friday night (3/4) and the championship game on Saturday night (3/5).
  14. Not to bust bubbles but the NCAA limit for total scholarships to a DI or DII school for volleyball is 4.5 so basically no one gets a full ride to play volleyball on the collegiate level. There are a few who can bundle academic money with a limit volleyball money to get it to almost a full ride but full ride on only a vb scholarship will be extremely limited.
