  1. I think everyone is on the same page on this one!
  2. That is fine that you think that, BUT the fact is, I think what I am saying is right by what I know. No sensitivity? I am confused by that comment because it makes no sense what so ever. If your going to try to rebuttal my argument, atleast make an argument with something behind it. Try to change my opinion. Not make me repeat myself to try to make you understand.
  3. I know fundamentals. I have been around the game for a long time and have coached and played under some very good coaches in my time. Its not hard to recognize fundamentals. And the kids I have seen, lack on them. Everyone is worried about dunking and trying to be flashy. They forgot the basics like defensive positioning, how to dribble, jump stop, how to set a proper screen, how to use the backboard on a layup, etc. You do not have to be John Wooden to recognize fundamentals. Those seem to be forgotten. Which is why basketball in this area has been suffering for a few years. Thats just my opionion anyways. I am not saying every player in NKY has no fundamentals, but from the games I have watched and the kids that I helped coach I feel as if some coaches need to do a better job. Coach Carr does a great job of that. You might have a different experience or may have a son that plays on one of the teams I mentioned, or you may even be a coach, fact of the matter is this is MY experience and the experience of many others in the area, including college coaches that I have spoken with. They know a lot about fundamentals as well.
  4. And with your interest in me, I will send you the link for a subscription.
  5. I agree with you on that. The school is very important, which is why the program at CCHS is the way it is now, so great point on that and I stand corrected. Riverdog, even if they are former coaches or graduates, they are still a fresh start for the program. They were all successful at the high school and college level as players I believe and I think they will get the respect of the players immediately.
  6. Okay, sorry about that. Learning lol.
  7. What is Dixie Heights looking like this upcoming season?
  8. Thank you for clearing that up for me. I was not sure about their record. But yes, I would say thats a pretty good season.
  9. Not sure what there record was. I believe they went to region though. And Coach Carr is a great coach. Ive helped out with an AAU team and have had guys from multiple schools play for us (Scott, SK, Boone, Campbell, Conner, etc.) and the Scott guys come in knowing fundamentals and with knowledge of the game. That comes from a good coach. Thats all I am saying. I think a lot of people would agree with me as well.
  10. I am not sure about all the talent at Scott, but I do know that Coach Carr is a great coach and will have them ready to compete again this year. I love his style of coaching. One of the best coaches in NKY. I look for Scott to make a run.
  11. I think that this is a great hire for the Ludlow program. Coach Hart was pretty successful at the small school level at the Grove and I think he will do the same at Ludlow. I think he will create some excitement around the community as he did at Silver Grove. Great hire!!
  12. I do not know who "True Shepherd" is, but if you read what I write, I am not putting down anyone at all. All I am saying is that Campbell County has not been as successful as it should be. It took them 41 years to win another regional tournament and they havent won a district tourney since 2002. Thats all I am saying. I think you are being way too sensitive about the situation. This is simply my opinion, just as you have yours. Coaches and teams are measured by championships. It may not be fair but thats how it is. I am not the one who created that stigma, so do not blame me. I think you need to read my posts, I am not putting anyone down, I am giving an unbiasis opinion on a situation that I am on the outside looking in and basing it on what I have heard from people involved. Im just saying Coach Russell will be a good fit for the program and hes bringing in fresh guys to help I have heard. Like I said, Its just my opinion, I do not get on this to take jabs at people behind a computer, just have good conversation about sports.
  13. Your right about parents thinking there kids are better than they are and blaming the coach. I am not saying that discipline is a bad thing at all. I am just saying that a lot of the players (including a senior that played a ton last year and had no reason to be upset with playing time) did not like the things that were said to them. I was not there so I do not know what was all said. BUT, I do know where there is smoke there is fire and if the players are not happy then you will not be around long because no matter what, the athletes are the most important component of the program. Newport had some talent last year, but compared to the rest of the state, they were not very talented. They played hard and together. But Newport has not exactly been the mecca (sp?) of talent for NKY in recent years. All I am saying is that Coach Russell will have a much easier time at Campbell, with exception of an administration that runs coaches out at the blink on an eye!! Should be a fun season though.
  14. See, I am hearing different from not only players but parents as well. I do not know everything that happend and the truth to any of it so I will not comment on that. Either way, Campbell is moving in another direction and it seems like its a good one. And I have no doubt the kids will work there butt off for Coach Russell. Also, going .500 at a school like Newport is not that bad. You have players quitting on you and coming back a week later and you have to take them back or you wont have a team. Its a tough place to coach and I think Coach Russell did a great job with what he had. He only had 1 player really that had any talent and he had a great season. Im not saying Campbell has a ton of talent or will be the best team in the district, but he has more to choose from then he did at Newport.
