Is Ryle Looking For A New Coach?
armsrace replied to Clyde's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
My guess is that Dave Faust (St. Henry) has the longest tenure currently at one school. -
Geno Adkins, Carlos Dunlap, and Michael Johnson will all become a free agents after this next season..... Wow! The bengals better work on locking up some of these guys long term or else the defense will take a HUGE step back.

Low risk.... with an small chance of helping the Reds out of the bullpen in some capacity later in the year. He did have 38 K's in 25 innings pitched, and allowed only 15 hits. That is a very good ratio! However it does appear he will have to be work on his control because I doubt we will be seeing his fastball in the low or mid 90's anymore. I'm glad they signed him.

Actually thought the sale price would be higher.

My favorite baseball trivia question ever.
armsrace replied to formerkywrestler's topic in Major League Baseball (MLB)
I believe there are several players that have touched the 250 lbs mark at various points in their careers that we could list. Besides the ones already mentioned......, what about Matt Stairs. He has 265 HR's I know they list him at 200 lbs now, but I would bet most of his career he flirted with and above 250. -
Now that they have some pop off the bench with the signing of Ludwick, would love to see them acquire a contact hitter/ high batting average guy like Jeff Keppinger to serve as a quality backup. He would serve the Reds well as a great situational hitter.

Sorry to see him go. He was a class act.

Why does everyone think this is a good deal? The Reds owned his rights for the next three years regardless. Now they are paying him an avg. of 12.666 million dollars a year. If he went to arbitration each of the next three years it was estimated that Joey would make 8.5-9.5 Million. Now they are paying him 3-4 Million more than they needed to. Why is this a good deal?

Current MLB players that will make the Hall of Fame.
armsrace replied to armsrace's topic in Major League Baseball (MLB)
I know most people quickly discredit Dunn and his accomplishments, but sometime this upcoming year he will surpass 400 career homeruns and with in two years he will most likely be in the top 40 home run hitters of all time. -
I read an article recently about current players that will some day make the MLB Hall of Fame. Some of these players they had listed and some of them are my own opionions. Keep in mind, its not stars of the future that will continue to add to their stats. Its based on if they retired in the next year or two, would they get in when they are eligiable What do you think? Catcher- Ivan Rodriguez (outside chance Jorge Posada) 1st Base - Albert Pujols, Jim Thome (outside chance Todd Helton, Adam Dunn, Paul Konerko, Mark Texeria, Ryan Howard) 2nd Base- Chase Utley, (outside chance Dustin Pedroia) Shortstop- Derick Jeter, Omar Visquel 3rd Base- Alex Rodriguez, Chipper Jones, (outside chance Scott Rolen) DH- (outside chance due to being a DH David Ortiz) Outfield- Ichiro Suzuki, Vlad Guerrreo, Manny Ramirez, Jim Edmonds, Andrew Jones, Lance Berkman Starting pitchers- Roy Halladay, Andy Pettitte, Johan Santana, Roy Oswalt, and CC Sabathia (outside chance Tim Hudson) Relief pitchers- Mariano Riveria, Trevor Hoffman (just retiered this week)

Reds Hot Stove League for 2011
armsrace replied to Voice of Reason's topic in Major League Baseball (MLB)
According to John Fay (Beat writter for the Reds)........... The Reds have had preliminary discussions with Johnny Cueto on a longterm deal. Cueto, like Votto and Bruce, is eligible for arbitration. Cueto/Reds should expect a settling on a contact in this neighborhood: A 4 year extension in the 26 mill range should be close (3.50/5.25/7.00/8.75/10 mill option or 1.5 mill buyout) -

Thought Justin Doellman (Ryle & Xavier) should be there also. -

The Reds signed Miguel Cairo to a two-year deal worth $2MM. Cairo, 36, hit .290/.353/.410 in 226 plate appearances for the Reds, playing mostly at the infield corners. Also the D'backs seem to be interested in trading for Chris Heisey.
