Hawkins is scheduled to announce May 10th...Reigelsperger May 25th...obviously Riegelsperger could move that up and be the first to commit but Hawkins is scheduled to be the first of the group as of today.

Agree? Disagree? Thoughts? Have to admit that as tough as it's been to rank teams this season, this past week might have been the toughest yet. Simply no accurate way to rank the teams after the top 3 consistently.

We've finally reached the final week of the regular season in the 9th region. All district tournaments have been set and now teams are simply focused on getting to next week's district tournament healthy. Here is where each team ranks heading in to the final week: 1. Covington Catholic (23-5) The Colonels extended their win streak to 11 games with a 56-39 win over #3 Dixie Heights but would see that win streak end just two days later as they...

Florida is 1-4 v top 50 yet a 3 seed in "projected bracket." Meanwhile, UC is 3-2 v top 50 and 9-2 v top 100. Don't see how an argument could be made for Florida as a 3 seed over UC...UK is in the same boat, IMO, as another team who shouldn't get a higher seed than UC if the bracket was finalized today. I know it doesn't matter right now but hate seeing the lack of respect for what UC has done to date.

Why so defensive all the time? I simply stated IMO (opinion being the key word) I think Lloyd wins tonight regardless. They are playing much better lately and it has been reflected not only in scores against common opponents but also tonight's game. Finfrock no doubt make a difference but 6 pts, 4 rbs wasn't a game changer for the Birds in the first meeting. It was Posey having 23 that carried them. If you want to hang on to a December...

U.S. Bank Arena Chief Operating Officer Ray Harris issued the following statement regarding the rumors of the University of Cincinnati deciding to let its men's basketball team play the 2017-2018 season in Northern Kentucky rather than in Ohio. "U.S. Bank Arena is committed to providing the best sports and entertainment to the Cincinnati area. We have a genuine desire to host the 2017-2018 UC Bearcats Men's Basketball season and have made...

Tom Groeschen Verified account ‏@TomGroeschen #UC basketball likely to play at #NKU next season when 5th/3rd renovated, sources say. US Bank Arena would be contingency plan. 10:32 AM - 9 Feb 2017 Mike Bohn (UC AD) said an official announcement should be out by mid next week, but all signs point to UC playing at NKU next season with a few of the bigger games possibly being played at USBA, if needed. Thoughts?

Beetle has played well in limited minutes lately...had 8 points in 5 minutes against Iowa State. Knowing how hard he has worked these past two years, good to see him finally getting an opportunity. You won't find many kids better than him off the court.

Why teams are where they are this week and my thought process: Highlands-Lloyd...can't go wrong with either team at 5 but I chose Lloyd because they seem to be playing better as of late and December 22nd was over a month ago. Using that argument, should I rank Holmes ahead of Highlands since they beat them head to head at the beginning of December? No way you can continue to use that game to judge which team is better right now. Luckily for...

With two weeks left in the regular season, the district seeds have been determined and we have a pretty clear idea of who SHOULD represent each district in the region tournament. Here is where each team is ranked as of now: 1. Covington Catholic (22-4) The Colonels continue to dominate the area as they extended their win streak to 10 games with wins over Scott (82-46) and Beechwood (77-37). Aiden Ruthsatz (23 pts), Cole Vonhandorf (20 pts),...

Assume you are referring to Aeneas Hawkins...likely comes down to OSU or Cincy for him. Joker Phillips (UC WR Coach now) coached both his dad Artrell (at UC) and Uncle Andrew (with the Browns) so there's a lot of ties for the Hawkins family to UC and the current coaching staff.

    12. The Commissioner ruled Jenkins ineligible last week.

HC is made to look like the bad guy in this situation, however all they are doing is making sure that the rules are being followed. The easy thing to do would be to allow this to happen. The difficult thing is to stand up for what is right.

I believe the kid got really bad advice from some adults and was easily led. It's a shame that he is the one suffering the consequences, however kids cannot, and should not, dictate to adults what they are going to do.

    8. SC sent transfer documentation, as the receiving school, to HC. HC forwarded the completed transfer form to the KHSAA, noting that there should be an investigation.
    9. The KHSAA allowed the transfer. HC inquired and was told they did not send any supporting documentation.
    10. HC did bring supporting documentation to an appeal hearing, which was attended by SC, as well as Jenkins family.
    11. The hearing officer ruled that this was not a valid transfer, but that the Commissioner had the final say. All of this took place before the beginning if the season.

    5. He was upset because he was required to take core classes. He wanted to take PE again.
    6. He texted Larry, my brother, and told him he was transferring to Scott County "for basketball reasons." Thanked Larry for all he had done for him.
    7. Last summer he played AAU ball for a team that was coached by a janitor at one of the Scott County public schools. Two other players, one from Madison Central the other from somewhere else (each their schools top player) transferred to Scott County

Walter, here's the skinny on the DJ Jenkins situation:
    1. I am the brother of the HC Head Coach, preceded him as the HC Head Coach.
    2. DJ and his family rent a home that is owned by our father.
    3. DJ attended HCHS at the beginning of the school year for 3 days.
    4. At some point during those 3 days, he was reprimanded at least twice for shooting in the gym without adult supervision, during times when he was supposed to be in class.
  5. Saw him in practice the other day. Looks like a solid player.

    You related to him?
