Exactly what have they been doing in the tourney? They have lost to better teams for the most part. If you want to call 30 wins (second most in program history) and a second round loss to a 30 win UCLA team underachieving, then we obviously have different opinions of "underachieving." But since Mick's teams consistently underachieve, let's take a look at his post season results: 2011: 6 seed #6 UC 78 #11 Missouri 63 #3 UConn 69 #6 UC...

They just lost to what could end up being the eventual national champion with arguably the best player in college basketball and you get on here and post this garbage? Give UC any other 6 seed's draw and they are still playing next week end. UCLA should have been a 2 seed at worst with UC likely a 5 seed if the committee seeds both properly. This loss had ZERO to do with coaching. Simply beat by a better and more talented team who shot over...

The coach who told me about Garland seemed pretty confident when I asked around. We will see I guess. I'm sure you know how these things work and how kids can change their mind literally over night. Regardless, playing along side a top 5 player in the country will get Kunkel a lot of high major looks this summer.

Cooper has talent. Hendrix is a D1 athlete. McNeil had a couple MAC schools trying to take a run at him late and even watched him as late as December even though he was committed to Bellarmine. Kunkel has D1 offers and will likely blow up this summer playing with Romeo Langford and Darius Garland on the Adidas Gauntlet circuit. Add in kids like Brayden Runion and Chris McNeil who are really good high school players and it is easy to...

ND hasn't had much contact. Larry Davis of UC has seen him multiple times and Mick is a fan of his game. If UC doesn't offer, it has nothing to do with his talent level or skill level and more to do with CJ simply not being the type of point guard that they are looking for in that '18 class. Coaches love CJ's toughness and passing ability.

Craziest part about what Jake does on the hardwood?? Most seem to think he is actually better at baseball. Kid is just an all around great athlete.

Cincinnati got absolutely shafted by the committee...no way Minnesota should have gotten a 5 seed over them or SMU. Mick and the Bearcats get sent out west for the third time in the past 4 years, and oh by the way, get a potential match up with UCLA IN CALI should they get by the Kansas ST/Wake winner. I guess Mick shouldn't have called the selection committee out. Both them and SMU both deserved better.

Happy for Jalen. Have known that kid since he was a toddler and played basketball/football with his brother and cousin. Would have been nice to see what he could have done if ended up back at Holmes with Beetle but going to Cincy was the best thing that could have happened for him. Great kid both on and off the court.

From the 9th Region Preview thread from all the way back on November 22nd: Team Rankings 1. Cooper Last Season: 24-5 (Lost in 9th Region 1st Round) Coach Tim Sullivan has the most talented team that he has ever had at Cooper. Led by 6'5 Bellarmine commit, Sean McNeil, the Jaguars will be a top 10 team in the state and have arguably the best starting 5 in the region. The Jags backcourt will consist of 6'2 reigning defensive player of...

Congrats to Coach Sully and his players. Extremely happy for him and that program. He has been there from the start and truly built that program in to what it is today. As far as Covcath goes, I have no doubt they will be back next year with what they return.

Hollis going to Holmes was best for all parties involved...both on and off the court. Newport was better this year without him.

I don't know if he sees JV or varsity next year as a freshman but he is referring to Tez Calloway...already around 6'0-6'1. Had multiple games as a 7th grader where he put up 35+, including a 50 point game. Very good player who can dominate inside but also gets a lot of his points by hitting from outside and mid range jumpers. Definitely a name to remember. One of the better players in the area for his age.

Never been a great shooter but is one of the best defenders in the region and as you said, very good going to the rim. Knows his strengths and plays to them very well.

Will never happen...it is hard enough for UK to make a bowl game as it is because of their conference schedule. They aren't going to schedule a team like UC, who is capable of being them regularly every year.

Don't underestimate Dad being a UC alum and former player as well as a lot of family ties to the UC staff...Many around Hawkins' recruitment have said UC is currently his leader, despite the big time offers he holds. As far as Blue Smith goes...I'm going to guess Riegelsperger committing to UK helps them with him but UC giving him the opportunity to be an impact contributor on both the gridiron and hardwood is what they are trying to sell him...

Reigelsperger just committed to UK on Twitter...honestly surprised considering all of the "recruiting" he's been doing with other kids to try to get them to UC and being around UC program so much these past few weeks. Honestly where he ends up signing is all that matters. If Hawkins/Vann commit to UC in May, I could see him flipping.

Congrats to Coach McFarland. Extremely happy for him and his program/players. I'm sure Coach Otte gained a lot of valuable experience in his first year as head coach that will help him moving forward. Conner's program is in great hands.

    12. The Commissioner ruled Jenkins ineligible last week.

HC is made to look like the bad guy in this situation, however all they are doing is making sure that the rules are being followed. The easy thing to do would be to allow this to happen. The difficult thing is to stand up for what is right.

I believe the kid got really bad advice from some adults and was easily led. It's a shame that he is the one suffering the consequences, however kids cannot, and should not, dictate to adults what they are going to do.

    8. SC sent transfer documentation, as the receiving school, to HC. HC forwarded the completed transfer form to the KHSAA, noting that there should be an investigation.
    9. The KHSAA allowed the transfer. HC inquired and was told they did not send any supporting documentation.
    10. HC did bring supporting documentation to an appeal hearing, which was attended by SC, as well as Jenkins family.
    11. The hearing officer ruled that this was not a valid transfer, but that the Commissioner had the final say. All of this took place before the beginning if the season.

    5. He was upset because he was required to take core classes. He wanted to take PE again.
    6. He texted Larry, my brother, and told him he was transferring to Scott County "for basketball reasons." Thanked Larry for all he had done for him.
    7. Last summer he played AAU ball for a team that was coached by a janitor at one of the Scott County public schools. Two other players, one from Madison Central the other from somewhere else (each their schools top player) transferred to Scott County

Walter, here's the skinny on the DJ Jenkins situation:
    1. I am the brother of the HC Head Coach, preceded him as the HC Head Coach.
    2. DJ and his family rent a home that is owned by our father.
    3. DJ attended HCHS at the beginning of the school year for 3 days.
    4. At some point during those 3 days, he was reprimanded at least twice for shooting in the gym without adult supervision, during times when he was supposed to be in class.
  5. Saw him in practice the other day. Looks like a solid player.

    You related to him?
