  2. I don't think there's any doubt as to which team is better, but just like Nicholas County showed, you just never know when those lights come on. Lewis will need some help, but I'll be pulling for them.
  3. Coach B would never use that as an excuse. Give that man 2 days in between games to prepare and he'd come up with a game plan to cover the fatigue. I hate to see Mercer on the losing end, but the season is young and they'll bounce back.
  4. It gets harder and harder to coach the right way and be the role model that you need to be for these young men. But Coach B, you make it look so easy! For young coaches, this blog is a great blueprint on how it should be done!
  5. This is 100% true. Best of luck to Coach Sizemore. He's a good man and a good coach!
  6. I know Lewis County is more NEKy, but I'd like to mention Tay Offut. He'll be a senior this year. Last season, his first season playing football at the HS level, he caught 49 passes for 611 yards and 7 TD's. He also returned 3 Kicks for TD's. He is an exceptional young man and was one of the few bright spots on a young, injury-ridden 1-9 team.
  7. It is surprising at first sight, but Alabama is a football state. I do think the quality of players in KY is getting better, but until football is more of the front-runner in KY, then we will see things like this. Hopefully that is where we are headed.
  8. I couldn't agree more. Coach Sizemore is doing an excellent job at Bracken. I saw him at the UK game Saturday and talked to him a bit about the game Friday. I know it was a tough loss to take, but he mentioned the season as a whole and there's no doubt in my mind that it was a success. I'm still a little jaded that Bracken didn't start football before I graduated, but I'm very pleased with Coach Sizemore and the players for creating a stable program. It is very well deserved. Best of luck in the off-season and next year as well.
  9. This is one heck of a matchup. If we weren't playing this week, this is the game I would go to. Should come down to whichever team can turn it over the least. Being a Bracken alum, I'd like to see them win. I really see this one being decided by single digits. Coach Hop always has his boys ready to play for NC. Gonna be a good one!
  10. Long Drive would be an understatement!! Pendleton is much improved andI think Pendleton will keep this close, but West should win. Single digit margin of victory. Good luck to both teams!
  11. You are certainly entitled to your own opinions. I just don't see a place on here for comments like these. I don't know of one team that plays football that goes into a game waiving the white flag. I do wish we had the tradition of your Rams. It's an uphill battle to get kids out for football and the kids we have I wouldn't trade for anyone. They compete regardless of what other people think or say. I hate that some of them might read comments like yours. As if this season hasn't been tough enough. I know it's not very likely for your Rams to be in our position for a good long while, but if it happens, I hope your kids don't have to read comments like these. Best of luck to the Rams the rest of the way. They are playing some really good football. As for your speculation...not a single coach or player will prepare for this game by hoping for a running clock before the game starts.
  12. As for Les Miles, the correct call was made after replay and that is not why he lost his job. As for this thread...Think of how many times you have actually agreed with a call. As coaches you want every play to go your way. In life, and in football, it doesn't always work that way. Some coaches are just as bad as parents in how they talk about or to the officials. It is interesting to note that officials know which coaches are respectful towards them. I'm not saying it buys you calls here and there, but it is just the right thing to do. Officials make mistakes just like we all do. How you handle the bad calls goes a long way to getting that close call in your favor. I don't subscribe to the idea of "working" officials to get a call later in the game, but I do think that when you show them respect they will return the favor. It was brought up in another post that there are 5 guys watching 22 players...just remember that. As for Officials being evaluated. They should be and they are.
