  1. "Spud" Baldwin is the the junior point guard
  2. Especially since Russell is the best player in the region. Oldham has a sophomore by the name of Kerry Smith that Holland is high on after talking with him, and Blake Payne a swing player. He thinks that both are capable of being all region players be the end of the season.
  3. Best young talent is not at North, south won the Freshmen tourney at Georgetown and Oldham's JV was beat at the buzzer by Scott County, so those two could be really good in the next couple years. I think that Simon and Oldham may be scary at the end of the year because they will gain experience as the season goes on. Both have very difficult schedules.
  4. Slow because they had to in order to win games, at Oldham they will play just a littel faster! Press and push the ball! If I know Holland from his days at Lincoln and in Florida. Good coaches adapt to their personel.
  5. To win the 8th you will have to beat 3 teams that are over a 1000 kids in there school. When was the last time a small school won the 8th? Gallatin was close 2 years ago, but other than that when was the other time. Oldham County in the long haul is a better program and has the potential to compete for the 8th regional title every year. In the smaller school systems in comes in cycles way to often. Coaches do not forget how to coach in those years, the players are just not there to choose from. Good step for Holland to take, no offense to Henry. Smaller schools can be spring boards for coaches and there is nothing wrong with that in my opinion. Good luck Coach Holland and the Colonel, and good luck to the boys at Henry.
  6. What's that supposed to mean? Holland was a great hire for them.
  7. Would be easy to talk about South and North but if I am not mistaken, both of them combined have won 2 games total in the region, in their school's history?
  8. I have heard the same thing. I have heard a buzz aroung Lagrange the last couple days, people are excited.
  9. Are interviews finished? I have heard they interviewed 3 total.
  10. Easy Purple pride did not mean to ruffle your feathers. Boyle was a lot of people's choice to win the 12th last year and struggled all year. They definitely under achieved. It was the first time since I can remember that they went 0-6 in district play regardless if it was a new system or not, they had tons of talent that did not achieve the ultimate goal. Their younger kids did however play their tails off like what I am used to seeing out of Boyle County kids. It does not look good for your program when the head man is ejected twice in the regular season, one of those the game before your rival Lincoln. Scouting is important if you are going to win games, especially district games.
  11. Do you actually think that they will be better than last year's team? They lost a lot off that team and struggled at the guard position all year. Danville returns almost everyone, Lincoln will be down but has tremendous coaching and a great middle school kids coming. Boyle will continue to be good in football which means getting your kids late every year, and just from a fan other things on the sidelines has to change, especially work ethic from the man calling the shots.
  12. Coach Yager did a commendable job his first season at the helm. Carroll returns Will Yager the coaches son who can flat out shoot the ball. They also return Proctor and Craig, who played a lot last year and at some point and I think started. Problem is the district they are in is competitive to say the least with Owen, Gallatin and Henry. They will struggle again for wins I think but will be competitive all season long. Yager will be a good pick up for some smaller colleges. Good luck Panthers!
  13. I think Holland has to be a serious candidate. What about Kinmon from Grant? Both of these guys are proven winners, coaches of the year if I am not mistaken. Holland has turned down jobs since coming to Henry I have heard and so has Kinmon, so both maybe happy where they are. I have a feeling that it will be an inside job however. Hard following a legend, and North and South are on the rise, where Oldham is down.
  14. Coach Forrest is simply one of the best coaches and not to mention person that you will ever meet. He has done so much for the 8th region, and for the state of basketball that he will be deeply missed. Enjoy retirement coach!
  15. Did not know that, thanks. Their girls program definitely got it going toward the end of the season, so good luck Bearcats
