College Football is upon us again. All is right with the world.
  1. Miami 24 Ohio State 21 I think Jacory Harris plays better than Pryor in this one, he has better presence, decision-making skills, more refined skills, and the best receiving corps in the country. Also, I think Miami's D-Line is able to control the line of scrimmage and stop Saine and Herron. Ohio State has the overall coaching edge-Tressel is better than Shannon, although Whipple (Miami's OC) is better than Heacock (Ohio State's DC). This one should be great.
  2. I would rank it like this: SEC EAST: 1. Florida 2. Georgia 3. South Carolina 4. Kentucky 5. Tennessee 6. Vanderbilt. SEC WEST: 1. Alabama 2. Auburn 3. Arkansas 4. LSU 5. Mississippi State 6. Ole Miss SEC Title Game: Alabama vs. Florida III Bowl Teams: Alabama (BCS Bowl), Florida (BCS Bowl), Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, Kentucky, Mississippi State.
  3. I think there was more to the firing than just her wearing a Florida cap to an Arkansas Presser. I read that she was trashing her job-even before she had the run-in with Bobby P.-on her Facebook page. Had it just been an instance of her wearing the hat to the presser alone, I think she would have been reprimanded, would have apologized to everyone at Arkansas, and eventually would have been allowed back around the football team. I don't buy that she didn't realize the hat she had put on the ENTIRE time leading up to Bobby P. calling her on it. She must have driven to the presser, which means she looked at herself in the mirror at some point, and even if she hadn't-don't you think someone would have commented on it before the head coach was at the podium.
  4. I don't know, I read the Sports Illustrated.com article about Masoli and I don't buy that he's as innocent as he claimed, but I do think differently about the charge that got him suspended for a year. I can also cut him some slack with the charge from his time in high school. The possession of marijuana didn't even merit criminal charges so I guess that's a toss up. I don't like the lying to his Coach and to the Police, and I think if he'll lie to one of the most important people in his life (Kelly) once-he may do it again. It's going to get really bad press because no matter how many stories like the SI.com article are written, he's still been in trouble with the police numerous times-no matter whether he's guilty or not on any of the charges-and that will be with him wherever he goes this year. From a football standpoint, I agree with HT721 when he says that it will be difficult learn the playbook in four weeks. It will be very difficult to run the Ole Miss offense with the same fluidity that he ran Oregon's offense for the better part of last season. I do think Masoli is better than just someone who was in the right system and I think Ole Miss may have a pretty decent player.
  5. I've been really impressed with the effort Boston's front-line players have given during this series; Rasheed Wallace and Glen Davis have come up huge against Lewis and Howard off the bench. While the Magic are a good team on paper, and have one of the best coaches in the League, I think Hedo Turkoglu's absence has played a very big part in the Magic's problems with Boston in this series. Carter is arguably a better player than Turkoglu, but in that system, he isn't as effective IMO. Rashard Lewis and Vince Carter both have been absent in this entire series, and Nelson is getting out played at every turn by Rondo-who is quickly becoming the best Point Guard in the NBA. I'm really at a loss when I watch Dwight Howard in this series; really, he hasn't been as effective this season as he was last season-and definitely not as effective as he was in 2007-2008. He has the ability to be one of the most dominant all-around post players in the history of the NBA, but he simply is not a very talented offensive player. He is only in his fifth year, and his best years are still a while down the road, but from what I've seen from him, he has one move offensively. I know that he has tried to employ the hook into his game, but he is simply not effective with it at this point. I think that he was the most effective when he focused primarily on defense, instead of trying to score more. He is by far the best post defender in the NBA, and pretty much unstoppable when it comes to controlling the paint-and far better suited to take over a game just by playing defense. I think he needs to work harder at developing a solid offensive game, and add more to his repertoire than just a drop step dunk. If he does that, I don’t think there’s a player in the league that could be able to contain him at either end of the floor.
  6. We actually talked about this in the class right after I posted this. I honestly hadn't heard this before, but my professor went on a big tangent about it today. He said a lot of it had to do with the railroads in the 1800's, I don't see why that would continue today, but stranger things have happened. I'd only been to Louisville probably twice before my senior year, but my mom and brothers moved there after I graduated and I'd have to say I really, really like Louisville.
  7. I'd take Rivers over just about anyone in 2011's class.
  8. What do you mean they treat Louisville as a foreign country to be avoided at all costs?
  9. That's a little worse than being politically incorrect.
  10. I didn't see your post just above mine, my bad GT.
  11. I found this on ESPN, it's Joe Lunardi's Bracketology for next year if the Tournament were to expand to 96 teams. He has Kentucky as a 4 seed, playing the winner of-I never thought I'd hear this-the 13-20 matchup between St. Mary's and Cincinnati; and he has Louisville as a 12, playing 21-seeded Kent State, the winner would go on to play fifth-seeded Texas A&M. Thoughts? http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/bracket?id=5071629
  12. Are you hearing Selby to UK as well?
  13. They weren't but they were clearly the best freshmen in their respective classes IMO. I think that's what he meant.
