I do not like free speech being stifled. I don't like people in administration bowing to a few whiners. It happens in high school sports a lot ... 2 or 3 rampaging parents get coaches fired if they bark enough. The squeaky wheel gets the oil has never been more true.

More Christian mainly because the nation itself was almost entirely, but even with all that the founding fathers had the foresight to make sure that religion was kept separate from governance. They recognized the problem with religious beliefs and persecution over law and made sure that was not part of the US law.

Thanks for clarifying. The law is the law. When we start allowing personal and religious beliefs to overtake the law, the door is open for Sharia law or any other church's law to be claimed as better than the actual law and justification for criminal actions.

Unless it has something to do with the class they are teaching, I think teachers and college professors should refrain from political commentary. I don't think the political leanings of teachers and college professors today are much different than what they were 30 years ago. I think it is the nature of teachers and professors to lean liberal.

All American? Do you mean high school All-American that stayed four years? I can't imagine Briscoe is on any college All-American list so I assume you are referring to high school All-American. What about Alex Poythress? He was a high school All-American and played four years at UK.

The interesting twist for me in this is that Republicans are pushing very hard to move things from the Federal side to the state and local side, but on this issue the Republicans want state and local government to toe the Federal immigration line and allocate state/local resources to do Federal work. It seems contradictory to me.

I think the majority of college students are liberal and activism by college students is a long standing fact. I do agree that activism has gone to another level. With social media it is easier to organize protests and get people to participate. That turns what used to be a 2 or 3 person protest years ago into a march across campus or a mass shout down of a speaker.

Yes, it is pathetic and way over the top ... but for some odd reason I found myself laughing as I read more of the posts. And now his company has 319 one star ratings and an overall rating of 1.2? Seriously though, it isn't that important people. It is a basketball game. Monday morning you got up and did the same things you would have done if UK had won ... well, except those 18%'ers who were still posting comments on Higgins'...

Good points Getslow. If we went down the list of various classes, who would be liberals and who would be conservatives?

I don't think most colleges promote a liberal agenda. I believe the nature of teachers and especially college professors leads them to be liberals and when they naturally share their political thoughts it is going to be a liberal opinion

I think this deserves its own thread. Do colleges push a liberal agenda? What percent of colleges do you think are pushing liberal thought on its students?

Long thread so I may have posted this earlier. I commented on this the last two months of the year. UK was not good at closing out games with the lead. They struggled putting teams away when they had big leads and they struggled in tight games with the lead. That is what came back to haunt them and led to this loss more than anything else. Almost every other Coach Cal UK team has been fantastic at closing out games and this team just never got...

What if media was categorized and content was restricted by what category they were in? For example, if you are going to offer primarily opinion shows on your channel then you are not allowed to be called a "news" station. You make news stations limit opinion to 10% or less of their content. If your content is going to be more than 10% opinion, then you are now an opinion or commentary channel and use of the word news for content on your...

A big part if the downfall of the media that led us to where we are today happened when they eliminated the Fairness Doctrine in 1987. Under the Fairness Doctrine, when a media outlet presented one political view they were required to give equal time to the opposing viewpoint. Would that meet your suggested fix above? Should we reinstate the Fairness Doctrine?

On that play the ball grazed the back of Humphreys tricep. I thought the same thing but they showed a replay a couple minutes later that showed the ball grazing Humphreys arm. Question for everyone. Whether it was justified or not, can anyone remember a NCAA tournament game with that much booing of officials over a 10-minute period like we saw at the end of the first half?

Good info. I had not heard that. What that tells me is that Monk doesn't even realize when he is losing focus or making mistakes. He needed Cal to stay on him and help him become more self aware and focused. Good for him that he did that.

As I posted in the other thread, he got benched twice by Cal in one of the SEC tournament games for lack of defense. He played better defense after that.

I am saying I wanted much more improvement from him. His improvement was no where near what it should have been. I think he could have improved much more. He is probably the most talented player on UK's team and he was benched in a tournament game for lack of defense - twice. That should not happen.

I only began to criticize Monk the last month or so of the year. My criticism is mostly out of frustration. Monk has so much potential that he did not realize this year. I don't think he ever bought in on defense. I wanted his offensive game to become more than it ever did. Criticism of Monk by me was because I see so much talent and wanted to see more moments like him blocking the three point try vs Wichita and him getting more than a rebound...

True. Another one we will have to agree to disagree on. Fox leading the poll here in a landslide so I am not the only one who takes Fox over Monk.

I don't dislike Monk. I just see him as being an underperformer. He should be so much better. That is why the NBA talent evaluators like him. His talent is off the charts. NBA drafts potential and Monk has it. The question is when is it going to show up on the floor in any area other than shooting the ball. Anyone who watched that game yesterday and paid attention saw Jackson embarrass Monk. Jackson played shut down defense on Monk and Cal...

Observation. The same way you came to your conclusion. Monk's offensive game evolved very little. He is a great shooter. He improved very little in other aspects offensively. He was not any better putting it on the floor and attacking. He is a great shooter. Monk also is an incredible athlete. At the end of the season he was being taken out of games due to poor defense. Yes, he was slightly better defensively at the end of the year than...

On the fouls and refs, how many games this year did both Fox and Monk have 4 fouls on them? I don't know the answer but my guess is none - until yesterday. That being said, I do think Carolina is a little better overall. The only matchup where UK has an advantage is Fox over Berry. In this game, Jackson over Monk and Maye over Willis/Gabriel were what won the game for UNC. Jackson is just better than Monk. It is that simple.

Yes, he does. He also believes Simon Kenton's football roster should move intact directly to the NFL. That is not a joke. He really believes that.

Not that I wanted to rehash the 2011 season, but I liked out discussion and had to add this point. Against NCC in the playoff game, Fuller running was designed. When NCC brought in the smaller pass rush typed DE's, it was an automatic QB run. When they left the big DE's in, it was automatic pass. If you watch the game tape, those two plays were called 50times. NCC couldn't adjust. Coaching was the difference in that game with two evenly matched teams. HC had never ran the two plays just mentioned and caught NCC off guard. What say you?
