Cross-county rivalry time in Buckner, KY as the Oldham County Colonels host North Oldham. One young coach is going to get his first victory at his school. North coach Joe Gamsky, in his second year, faced a tough matchup is a much bigger, faster Western Warrior team last week, and injuries to star WR Brandon Rose and QB Tanner McCoy that forced Rose to sit nearly all the game and McCoy to sit much of the second half made that task even...

I interviewed North coach Joe Gamsky last night for Friday's broadcast....you can hear the interview during the pregame show, which starts at 7 pm. Joe's excited and I think he has cause to be....the Mustangs appear much faster than last year, and they appear ready to capitalize. Could make for a great game against the typically speedy Western Warriors....the winner of the last four matchups between these two has scored over 40 points each...

Should be an awesome game; I'm sorry I'm going to miss this one. Two really top-tier QBs featured by these offenses...I'm eager to see if Keaton Martin of South picks up with the insane production he had last year as a part-time starting freshman... I agree with the comments above in regards to the "big battle" - CAL DL vs. South OL, but it may well be that the opposite battle - South DL vs. CAL OL - will be just as important. The lines...

Two teams trying to bounce back from sub-par years... North Oldham (0-10 in 2016) tries to rebound after only the second winless season in school history. Interestingly, that previous season was 2006, the first year Billy Martin roamed the sidelines. The following year, the Mustangs had their first winning season in the school's short history and won 8 games! Last year the Mustangs went winless in Joe Gamsky's first season as head...

Didn't think Mike could stay out of coaching too long! I've been fortunate enough to count Mike Jackson as one of my friends for the last 20 years (has it really been that long, Mike??) and he's one of my all-time favorite coaches. He's a great addition to Trinity's staff. Congrats to the Rocks and good luck to coach J!

People may want to remember that the South Oldham Middle School team two years ago went all the way to the state middle school championship game. Those kids are now working their way up the ranks and have established a winning tradition all their own. They will probably be mostly the top reserves this year, and the team leaders the following two years...

Thanks, Bobcat! We really enjoy doing them! Great ride with South last year! That is a tantalizing game. CAL's always a solid program - Coach Lefors has done an amazing job there and they are one of the most disciplined teams we see year-in and year-out. That might be an added game....trying to work out a few details, though, logistically. The schedule is always a challenging thing for us to put together; it's never as easy as...

A new mindset is a definite must. OC must return to the attitude the Colonels played with from the late 1990s through the first decade of the 2000s, when the Colonels were frequent top-10 flyers. Change seems to be coming....Mike Shatzer struggled to get the wins, but he did a good job of rebuilding the numbers, nearly doubling the roster size in his three seasons. Last year's team roster was dominated by sophomores and freshmen, and...

Love the new helmets....been publicly advocating for the Oregon "O" on the Oldham helmets since Mike Jackson had a similar helmet at Oldham in the early 2000s....(there WERE differences...Jackson's helmets were metallic blue and the "O" had a shadow "C" in black) Looks very cool! Kudos to Mike Fox for a really classy look! CM Pegasus Sports

Joe Gamsky will greatly benefit from being in his second year as head coach. Great guy; good football mind and heart. As he begins to get the athletes he needs for his system, the Mustangs will get back to the form of a few years ago. The key to the South program, which has become a perennial success story under Jamie Reed & company, is the impressive coaching staff. Jamie has done a fantastic job, as have his assistants. Footballbobcat lists a solid list of returnees.... Returning offense SR QB Drew Zaubi (2317 yds/32 TDs passing / 367/13 TDs rushing) May be the best all-around QB in school history, is solid both passing and running. Will need every bit of...
