Two big Class 5A / District 3 matchups Friday 10-19-18, and Pegasus Sports will broadcast both games LIVE (also archived). Current district standings: South Oldham 4-0 (district record) The Dragons have won six straight district titles, including three in a row since being re-districted into this group of six teams. This year is #7 as South has clinched first place. Oldham County 3-1 2nd year coach Mike Fox' Colonels have come a...

LOL! Was just thinking about the crowd..... Final: #2 Oldham County 10, #1 Shelby County 7 Shelby's only score came after an Oldham pick deep in OC territory led to a short-field opportunity. I think Lee Tinsley was the Shelby QB if memory serves. The next week, Oldham was #1 and 11-0 and Shelby was #2 with a 10-1 record. The Rockets are perhaps the highest ranked team in KY history to miss the playoffs. Notice the correction in...

The largest crowd I remember during a game I broadcast was the 1984 meeting between Oldham County (ranked #2 in "state 4A") and Shelby County (ranked #1 in "state 4A). The game was played in Shelbyville and featured the prolific option attach of coach Tom Becherer at Shelby, a team averaging over 30 points per game, and the stingy defense of coach Terry Bean's Oldham County Colonel squad, which allowed less than four points a game and shutout...

South on a roll since the opening day loss to CAL. Three-headed monster in the backfield / wingbacks is hard to handle. If SO can run on a team, they're awfully hard to beat. Nelson still in re-building mode, but it's something everyone goes through. The folks in Bardstown just need to be patient.

This game is also going to be all about the "mental aspect" of football. South - with six consecutive district titles under their belts - has gotten that swagger coaches like. They EXPECT to win and it's expected that you won't do anything to let your teammates down in the district title chase. Oldham, on the other hand, doesn't have a player on the roster who has won a district title. Will the Colonels maintain their cool if things go...
