I should clarify a statement I made. South hasn't lost in Crestwood to Oldham County since before Jamie Reed took over. Sorry about any confusion there... CM

Oldham County leads the all-time series between the two oldest Oldham County schools, 16-15, but South has won eight in a row - the longest winning streak either school has put together against the other. The last two games have been very competitive; South won, 16-6, in 2017, and 23-17 last year. South hasn't lost in Crestwood since before Jamie Reed took over as head coach; the Colonels beat South in 2009 at South, 42-7. Interesting...

Definitely an uphill climb for North....but I've certainly seen stranger things happen on a football field! (especially in rivalry games) Throw in the fact that Friday is a rare occurrence: It's Friday the 13th AND a full moon.....how superstitious are you? :scared: Seriously, Joe Gamsky's Mustangs are definitely still in rebuilding mode, and they are playing a brutal schedule, including this game against the #7 5A team, their...

Oldham weathered the storm against an old rival in Shelby County. Credit Todd Shipley and company for a great game plan; the Rockets weren't about to go quietly into the night despite being the underdogs. Not only did the Rockets rally from a two TD deficit twice (14-0 and 28-14), they defensively did a great job on Oldham's talented tailback, Juan Tapia, holding the Colonels' leading rusher to more 100 yards below his per game average. ...

Back to back impressive wins for South. BC is a much improved team over the past few years, but South continues to have their number. Didn't see the game, so I cannot make many comments... South travels to Goshen, KY next week to face intra-county rival North Oldham. The Dragons would seem to be a huge favorite in that one against a winless and rebuilding Mustang team - but it IS Friday the 13th AND a full moon....and a big rivalry...

Miracle has been amazing this year; I'm looking forward to seeing him play. Didn't get to see him last year. Always enjoy broadcasting this game; Pegasus has a lot of viewers in Shelby County. I actually was the Voice of the Rockets for 2 years back in the late 1990s on the old "Thunder 101.7 FM". :ylsuper: My favorite matchup was in 1984, when Shelby County came into the game ranked #1 in the state and Oldham County was ranked #2. ...

The Oldham County Colonels renew an old, old rivalry against the Rockets of Shelby County on Friday in Buckner at Bell Field. 6A Oldham County comes in at 2-0 on the season with wins over Eastern and North Oldham, two games they were expected to win. Shelby comes in 1-1 on the year after opening with loss to highly-ranked Wayne County and rebounding last week to defeat cross-town rival Collins, 23-9. Mike Fox (third season, 18-7) has...

Bullitt Central has been on the move upwards over the past few seasons. Dan Leasor and Tye Lawson got the momentum going, and Matt Kuehn has done a remarkable job of continuing the upward climb with three straight winning seasons. Overall, five consecutive winning seasons has the Cougars on the right track. But BC's kryptonite is South Oldham. Since defeating South in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs in 2010, 28-21 - Jamie...

Not entirely surprising. Eastern is in a bit of a rebuilding mode; South Oldham was highly motivated after last week's frustrating 6-0 overtime loss to CAL. Congratulations to Jamie Reed and the Dragons, who move to 1-1 on the season. The Dragons finally get to come home next week as they host the Cougars of Bullitt Central. CM

Oldham led at the intermission, 33-14. The Colonels dominated the first half, but North got two big kickoff returns - one for a touchdown, and the other setting up a long TD run by North QB Blake McAfee. The opening moments of the second half, however, proved to be the Mustangs' undoing as North fumbled away the ball early on their first two possessions of the second half. In each case, Oldham took only three plays to put the ball in the...

Some tidbits on the series: - North Oldham leads the series, 5-3. - Oldham County has won the last three meetings, including 31-0 last year in Goshen. - Last year's 31-0 score was the first time either team had been held scoreless. It was also the second year in a row that Oldham County scored over 30 points. - Oldham County very nearly had three 100-yard rushers in last year's game. Lucas Jones carried 23x for 132 yards, 1 TD. QB...

OK, where's the various HS fans in Oldham County.... North Oldham - after showing improvement over the last three years, going from 0 wins to 2 wins to 4 wins last season, the Mustangs stumbled out of the gate last week and are looking at a tough task to improve on last year's win total against a tough schedule. North Bullitt took the Mustangs' measure last week, 40-14, and NO is now looking at a schedule where they will be favored in only...

Not a moral victory. South Oldham is the fourth-winningest program in class 5A over the past four years, with 44 wins during that time, including two state semi-final finishes, losing to Pulaski County in the SFs three years ago and to eventual champ South Warren last year. At this time, I just don't think head coach Jamie Reed is going to settle for claiming a "moral victory" with a team that is now expected each year to at least make it to...

Sorry - I have tracked Maxpreps over the years and refuse to even reference it in my broadcasts. I find it to be completely without merit. Sure - it's another poll, and it's always fun to debate polls, and if I can say my team is #x in this poll and #x in that poll, and #x in the Maxpreps poll, it's a point of pride and worth hanging on the bulletin board as some sort of achievement, but speaking as a one who reads the polls a lot - and...

Understand where you're coming from, but this was a tremendous HS football game and atmosphere. South Oldham brought a ton of fans, complete with a whiteout student section that covered most of the visitor bleachers, banners, and flags. The entire visitors side was packed....as was the entire home side, where the CAL faithful resided. And despite the low-scoring game, both sides' fans were into it from start to finish, feeding off the...

Seems like when a school splits, the allure of the "new school" draws a lot of the top athletes. In Shelby County, Collins topped the Shelby County Rockets when the Titans first got started....in Oldham County, South Oldham won the first meeting between the Dragons and Oldham County...you see this phenomena a lot. What happened here? Didn't necessarily expect Great Crossings to win the game, but didn't they get any of the better athletes?...

Ballard should win this game pretty easily....but of course, it's HIGH SCHOOL. These poor coaches are staking their professional reputations on a group of kids who may have: - flunked a test that day - broke up with their girlfriend - found a new zit on their face - fought with their parents - been grounded by their parents - wrecked their car - lost their job at McDonalds (and therefore, the ability to put gas in their car)

South very impressive in a preseason scrimmage win over Marion County. I wasn't there, so I didn't see it in person, but it was a good test for South as I understand Marion is very big in the trenches. Dragons rushed for less than 100 yards last year against the Centurions, but it will be a completely new defense for CAL this year, as they replace 9 starters. South will have the services of JT Benson, last year's #2 rusher / #2...
