  1. In response to your comment that Ty Siedel will be the #2 quarterback I also believe but Ty has a history of getting hurt as he was his freshman and soph year. With him playing defense as hard as he plays I hope that he can stay healthy. He is a nice young man and a very good athletic and if he stays injury free he will be the #2 QB.
  2. The biggeast surprise was the performance of Pat Towles. From someone who watched most of 2008 freshman practices and all of the games its quite obvious to me that Pat has worked very hard this past year on his quickness, speed and ability to throw accurately to the receivers. Watch for him to become the backup to Barto as the season goes along. Great work Pat.!! Of course Ozzie Sheenan will continue to make plays. Things look bright for 2010.
  3. Congratulations to the Tigers for their Freshman Championship. As a Highlands fan I was very impressed with their team. Several players were excellant football players and should be standouts at the varsity . I cant wait until 2008 when maybe the JV Tigers and the JV Bluebirds play. Those standout players were Staten, Vocke and Kremer just to mention a few. I also saw the NCC and Beechwood game in addition to the Beechwood and Highlands Championship game. Good Luck in 2009
  4. I think that the Manual game will give this new team a very competative game and the strong and weak parts of team will give the coaches a good look at what needs to be worked on and what the new position players can do in game conditions. I think you will see Bardo run the ball more than Tony which will open up more passing options. Who will be the back up to Bardo ? Siedl or Abner ? I heard that Abner will be attending NCC in 2009, any truth to that rumor ?
  5. Continuing my evaluation of the key 2008 Freshman players is as follows; A. Trapp: Big strong kid, likes contact needs to improve his foot speed, I see him playing somewhere at the varsity level B. Dupont: Good football player can play very well at several positions IMO the best defensive player on 2008 team definitely will play at the varsity level. J,True : Exceptional running back, has size and speed good football ability, as hard as he plays he needs to stay injury free, was dinged several times during season. Could be the featured back at the varsity level. Time will tell. C. Neu: Will be the quarterback featured at HHS possibilty in his senior year. Good skills at quarterback, will develop the ability to read defenses because he is smart and coachable. A. Merrill: Did very well for a kid who did not play any junior football Very atheletic good hands, hope he stays with football and not only play basketball M. Meyer IMO that he surprised me the most at the way he was able to learn the center position including the short and long snap. Has good size, good speed for a big kid. Look for him to be team leader and possible a team captain at the varsity In summary this was IMO a very good group of kids that not only played footall but seem to have fun. I dont see any of them getting much varsity playing time during soph year because of the group playing ahead of them but could get some limited experience as the mop up crew
  6. This is from someone that saw all of the freshman games and attended about 90% of the practices I offer my opinion about those players not mentioned in this thread. Luke Dressman, good agressive kid, good speed, can catch the ball. Joe Ringwald: Hurt most of the season but has very good football instincts good speed and agressive player Ian McGurran: Tough kid, above average speed, likes to hit, good ball carrier Sam Chambers: Hurt part of the season but has a nose for the football needs to grow a little improve strength to play in the middle Josh Quillen: Average ball carrier IMO runs to much east-west good speed, I think he is above average on defense as a linebacker. Dillon Carson: Good tough kid, plays very agressive his real contribution will be as a defensive player IMO Brad Rouse: Good football player, average speed, good north south runner does not fumble, IMO played out of position at def end but did a good job. Needs to get bigger. M. Iles Big strong kid, needs to practice harder, in games play every play has the potential to be a star from this class. D. Nappier Big kid, likes to play needs to improve foot speed coud be an impact player at varsity level These a just a few comments about some of the players I watched
  7. After seeing at least 50 high school football games this season including all of HIGHLANDS games its quite an ommision not to even mention the name ot Ollie Head as a defensive back, He is without question the hardest hitting defensive back that I have seen play this season. Not to mention that for most of the regular season he was the featured running back forced into duty because of injury to Josh Connor. Just as a footnote I believe he is also the leading scorer on the number 1 or 2 in the state depending the poll you look at. IMO
