  1. Brett Marshall's final regular season stats as a receiver-- 26 rec. for 386 yrds. and 3 tds. I don't know his defensive stats, so I can't comment on whether he should have been selected for defensive back. I can't understand why Henderson from Danville or Hounshell from Garrard wasn't selected over Warner and Crutchfield. I wish someone could explain why Jordon Aumiller was selected to three positions? I'm sure he is a good player, but the stats don't support being voted to three positions.
  2. The stats for each position player are in the article on the all area team, so you can compare stats. If you think Kruz Warner was a good choice at WR, who would you have left off at the receiver position. The kid from Garrard County led the area in receptions, receiving yards and receiving TD's. So that only leaves one other receiver and he is from Boyle County, so are you saying that Brett Marshall should have made it before him?
  3. If Garrard is going to contend for the district, it should be next year. The only thing is they will be starting a QB that will not have any high school varsity QB experience. They will have 14 seniors next year that will hopefully be able to help break in the QB. If that happens they should be able to win some games.
  4. This game may not be close and probably won't be, but the kids from Garrard will play hard no matter what the score is.
  5. IMO, it doesn't matter where Frankfort plays Beechwood they won't beat them. With that said, I would love to see Frankfort play Beechwood and beat them. With the six classes in football it looks like to ME that the same teams will compete for the championships year after year. Look at this year (1A - Beechwood, 2A - Fort Campbell, 3A - Belfry or Central, 4A - Boyle, Bell or Lex Cath., 5A - Highlands, who could play in 3A and might win this class every year, 6A - St. X or Trinty) and compare those to who won last year. Sorry, didn't mean to get off the original post.
  6. Frankfort will win this one, but IMO there won't be a state championship because they can't get by Beechwood.
  7. Stoney wasn't run off, it was just time for a change. That is in the past and that is where it needs to stay. The new staff is moving the program in the right direction, even though this years record may not show it.
  8. Frankfort has some nice athlete's. Not many teams kick the football to #1 (Tyler Ray), so don't be to critical of the kickoff coverage. Good luck in the playoffs!!
  9. Garrard has some starters hurt, some for the rest of the year. That doesn't help when the backups are freshman and sophmores, but that's what happens when your team has low numbers. I still think Garrard wins 35 - 14. On a side note, Garrard Middle has a pretty nice group of 8th graders. I think there are 22 of them. It would be nice to see all them come over to the high school and play next year. They could have a freshman schedule of games and some might even get some varsity clock.
  10. Garrard should know how to tackle. It isn't rocket science!
  11. Has Pendleton County won a game since they beat Garrard County last year?
  12. The bad habits are arm tackling, improper tackling technique and not keeping their feet moving on contact, which I think reflects prior defensive coaching since most of the starters are Juniors, not Sophmores. Also, they beat Taylor in overtime by 1 because they missed a extra point, but Chris Thomas, I believe ran for 300 or more yards in the game. Wayne County beat them by 5 the last game of the year and Garrard beat them by 7 the next week in the playoffs. Defense win championships!!!!
  13. The new coaching staff has to be given some time to get things going again at Garrard County. Plus, there has been absolutely no defensive coaching the last couple of years at Garrard County. These kids have some bad habits that the new coaching staff will have to get them out of for the defense to improve. Also, the number of kids playing needs to go up to be successful at a 3A school.
