This is all about the schools that don't make the region getting in on the money. Looks like another case of just spreading the wealth with this little deal going down in the City of Corbin, but I guess that is the thing to do nowadays. The way I see it is the schools that don't make it to the region needs to get better, work harder. There is not a team in this region that can't make it to the regional tourney to get some money. I can't think of a team in the region that has not been to the tourney.

Bubba, another draw back you forgot for Harlan County is for us to host a region in our new gym. No it might not seat as many but it is by far the nicest gym on a high school campus in the state of Kentucky maybe one of the nicest in the nation and we are proud of it. We want the region here. Like I said before, the City of Corbin can keep the region every year except the year we should host it and then we want it. If other schools want to give it up that is fine but don't take it from us.

I hope they have it every year in Corbin if that is what each school wants but when it comes time for Harlan County to host the region I hope and pray that we get to host it and not the city of Corbin. We love our new school and gym and we as a school, county, and community want it here when time comes.

I haven't gone through and read all the post on the Harlan County/Bell County game but I hope that the Harlan County kids don't put all their effort into this one game. We have a new district and that is what counts. I am not saying that the Bell game is not big but we should not get caught up into this game when we have very good teams to play in our district. Now, I must say this, Harlan County had better improve on the defensive side of the ball or it will be a long season. Not saying that it is the scheme and defintely not the coaching but our kids where not that physical last year and did not tackle like they are capable of tackling. Harlan County teams have always been considered physical kids but last year was not but I am hoping the offseason and a year under their belt will help. Go Black Bears!

Great first year for the Black Bears. I am sure that it has been hard for Coach Jones to go through a year like this but he and the Black Bears will be back. I think it is amazing what Coach Jones has done with this team. They do not have pure shooter and a true point guard to handle pressure but they were in just about every game they played. I am in no way downing the guards of Harlan County but they were one great ball handler and pure shooter away from being a regional contender. Good luck next season for the Black Bears and good luck to Corbin in the remainder of the regional tourney.

Mike Jones. I am so glad that he got him to start our program. This team has come leaps and bounds from the beginning of the year. Doesn't even look like the same team. Are they world beaters, no, will they win the region, maybe, maybe not, but they play as hard as any team I have seen in a long long time and they are learning the game.

Wideopen, please tell me you are kidding me. 2 years old and had to pay? Well I have talked to more and more people about this and there are some really angry county people out there. In a way I hope that the county does not honor the city's cards Monday for the girls game or Feb. 5th for the boys game but part of me thinks that the county should not sink to the level that the city showed Tuesday.

Sorry I am posting so late on this thread but I couldn't go without throwing my two cents in. I too was at the game where the man was tossed and I couldn't believe what I saw. Everybody in the 13th region knows this guy. He is one of those that has been around basketball games for years upon years. I won't mention the refs name but I hope he feels ashame of what he did after he had time to think about it.

I was impressed with the HC defense as always. They did miss a lot of easy shots that could of really put the game out of reach but like lungbuster said, "A win is a win". This team has improved SO MUCH since the beginning of the year. Coach Jones is doing one heck of a job.

I was told that Harlan City did not accept Harlan County's coaching cards, any truth to this? I thought all school were to honor coaching cards unless it was a playoff or bowl game in football and tourny's in basketball.

Don't forget about the return of Timmy Engle this year. He could have made a big impact on last years team. Also I am hearing that Eric Miller the very athletic Soph. is going to play.

Lets just extend football season and shorten basketball season. I would love that.:dancingpa
