No, I-65 runs from Louisville to Bowling Green (and down into Nashville). Technically Florence would be considered east of that. I-75 also runs north and south, connecting Cincinnati/Lexington/London (amongst other cities). You may also see him use I-64, which runs east and west. It connects Louisville/Frankfort/Lexington/Ashland.

Come on now, you may be a diehard Cubs fan, but even you have to admit that the number of people who suddenly became fans two years ago was obscene. Same way in 2004 when the Red Sox won it. People who claimed they were fans couldn't tell you who Ernie Banks or Ted Williams were. I have absolutely no problem "making fun" of those people. They aren't in it for the baseball, they're in it because it's "cool" at the time. As to there being...

I think context in general, is huge. A guy can draft AJ Green for his fantasy football team and use the reason "because he's dangerous", and it not have a racist tone/connotation to it. He simply means that he's got a chance to score or have a big gain every time he touches the ball. He means it in the figurative sense, not the literal (implying that he's in a gang or carries a gun or whatever). And whether the fantasy football guy is...

One of the surest things I can post here is that Matt Harvey will not be a Red next year. Just can't see it. I'd imagine if he continues like he's done the past month or so, that there's going to be some teams interested...so, trading him makes the most sense. But, even if he's not traded, I just can't imagine him signing here as a FA in the off-season. I think he'll want too much. The one player mentioned that I would NOT trade is...

Never mind, saw where you were pulling that data from. Went and looked it up myself. 483 innings would move them from 23 to 9 (and 4th in the NL). So, if just a measly 1/3 of an inning makes that big of a jump, it tells me that it's not really that far out of the norm. Are there some elite teams? Sure. There may even be a really bad team. But for the most part there's a lot of teams really close together.

So, 11 more innings out of 87 games makes them average? Just for giggles then, if every starter had gone just one-third of an inning more in each game, they'd be at 483...which is 18 innings over the average...where would that put them?

Okay, now that's part of the reason why I asked this question. Had a friend on Facebook the other post one of those things "Where I'm from, we..." and one of the things was "we call fireflies lightning bugs." While I had heard the term firefly before, I got to thinking that I've never really heard anyone actually call them that. So, didn't know if it was a regional thing or not. Thanks CWB!

Do you realize how rare the situation was last night? In over 300 plate appearances, Votto reaches base 94% of the time with a 3-0 count. Let that sink in...94 times out of 100, Votto is getting on base (and scoring that run). For Pete's sake, he's got more hits on that count than he's made outs, and still has 264 walks to go with it! If there's ever been a guy in baseball whose eye's I trust and give the green light to, it's Joey Votto. End...

This is a quote from you from 6/22 (in the Cubs-Reds thread): Votto just struck out with the bases loaded and he never swung at a pitch. I just don't understand him. All of the pitches were border line and he never swung at any. Very passive instead of aggressive. Sounds like he was just taking you advice. I mean, come on. 3-0 is the ultimate hitter's count, and you've got a guy who's hitting nearly .600 in that count...and now he's...

Nope...I never said that. But, this series with the White Sox is one where other bottom dwellers would rest on their laurels after what they've done against the Cubs, Braves and Brewers. And when you couple it with the road trip before the All-Star game, it'd be an easy series to overlook. Call it a "trap" series if you want. And, to me, this is what the manager needs to make sure they don't fall into. Keep holding their feet to the fire. ...

This is where Riggleman shows me what he's got. Absolutely no excuse for this team to take it's foot off the gas right now. They've beat the teams they weren't supposed to...now to beat the ones they ARE supposed to. Need to do the same thing that they did against the Royals and Tigers. Taking 2 of 3 from the White Sox should be a given...but, a sweep should definitely be their goal, especially at home. Because the next 9 won't be as easy.

I am sooooo going to sound like Chris Welsh here, but...I don't really care about what the radar gun says. Can the kid hit his spots? Can he change speeds? Does he have a good #2 or #3? Can he get hitters out? Can he do it multiple times? Does he have the endurance to last more than 5 innings? Look, if the kid ends up being the second coming of Aroldis Champan and can pump heaters by people all day long, then great. But, I'd much rather...

Absolutely. I think there are a lot of "casual" fans who will have an opinion on something, that's ultimately based upon something they heard on a broadcast. I have only listened to a radio broadcast in very few instances over the last couple of years, so I honestly don't know exactly what Marty is saying. But Thom...good grief...I often wonder what Welsh or Brantley are thinking sitting next to him.

Good Lord y'all...a guy who hasn't even had a full year in the majors is supposed to be an ace? And you're criticizing a guy's approach at the plate who's career BA is in the top 100 of ALL TIME, and his OBP is knocking on the top 10 in the history of the sport? Geez, tough crowd. I'm assuming you guys have signed the petition to have Cy Young's name removed from the award for the best pitcher, because that scrub lost more games than...

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary by going to the Greyhound Tavern last night. Even though I've been in the Greater Cincinnati area for over 30 years, it was my first time. Ended up getting the NY Strip. Asked the waiter how sure he was they could get it medium rare. He said he'd guarantee it. And you know what...it was. Fantastic steak cooked beautifully. Also, the pimento cheese (with smoked Gouda) we had for an appetizer...you...

I think Fox has to rely on Shot tracer more, just because it seems like their camera operators can't track a ball in the air worth a darn. They seem like a bunch of middle school kids trying to follow a ball comared to the people that CBS and NBC use. I noticed this a couple years ago when they first started doing the US Open, and thought that they'd improve by now. It seems, sadly, I was mistaken. Also, I think sometimes Fox is their own...

We did do the Maid of the Mist tour. You're right, the sight and sound from above is nothing compared to what it's like at the foot of the falls (especially when they pulled up into the Horseshoe Falls). We also did the Cave of the Winds tour (where you can walk on the wooden platforms located below the Bridal Falls). That was impressive as well. My wife enjoyed this even more than the boat ride.

Was there on Monday. Loved it. You will too, no doubt. Some of my observations: *You've got three distinct options for parking. One is metered, but limited to two hours at a time. Another is one of the paid daily lots. And the third is one of the three free lots that are further out, but covered by a trolley shuttle. (I think a family pass for a day is $5 for the shuttle). We paid $10 for one of the daily lots, just so we could have...
