I had several friends on Facebook post this the other day, following the shooting in Florida. It went something like "There have been 18 school shootings in the past 30 years in (don't remember what country they referenced), but there have been 18 in the USA this year alone." Obviously my friends weren't the only ones to share this "stat". Only problem is, apparently it's completely wrong. No, there haven’t been 18 school shootings in...

I have been to a visitation, along with a couple of weddings, where I was pretty much the only one wearing a suit. The one wedding was REALLY casual. After we sat down, my wife said that other people probably thought I was the minister. :lol2:

Is this where they start off an inning with a runner on 2nd base?

Absolutely impossible for me to choose. Have too many that I like to have just one favorite. Growing up in the 70's and 80's, was heavily exposed to the works by Mike Post and Pete Carpenter. US loses 3-2 in OT to Slovenia in men's hockey. This, after being up 2-0 after 2 periods. Then it looked like to me they went into the proverbial prevent defense. Pathetic.

Russians defeat Norway for bronze in mixed doubles curling. After watching it, the one rule change that I wish they'd make in this instance is that you are either a.) the thrower, or b.) the sweeper, but you can't be both on the same stone. Seemed like there were several throws from both teams where the man threw it, then jumped up and swept it all the way down. The only thing the woman did was shout instructions. Seemed very one-sided in...

Okay, it's now 5 hours after the luge was shown, and NOW they just finally show a replay of Emily's crash. And what's really bizarre is that during it, you can actually hear commentary from the announcers at the track. It's almost like they edited out the replay the first go round. This is very weird.

Just got done watching the finals of the women's luge. Emily Sweeney of the US with one of the worst crashes that I've ever seen in luge. She eventually got up and walked off, and at the end of the coverage even did an interview. What's weird is that there was absolutely zero replay of the event. I could understand holding off while she was still laying on the track. But, nothing at the very end either? Very weird.

According to Billy Hurley III, he is. Billy Hurley III calls Jordan Spieth "disgusting" and a "thief" in satirical attack ad that is absolute gold The article is good, the "commercial" in it, is great. (Sorry, I couldn't get it to embed just the video.) I haven't had a laugh like this in quite awhile. Well done Mr. Hurley, well done.

Why is Rebecca Lowe an anchor on NBC? Seems very curious to hear a Brit anchoring American coverage of the Olympics. Does NBC not have anyone else in their stable to do it? (Not trying to sound elitist, just curious.) Did the fact that they had the Super Bowl keep Al Michaels and/or Dan Patrick from being part of the Olympics?

I take stats with a grain of salt. Saw one kid set his school record for number of assists in a game, which sounds good. Only problem is it was in a blowout game (back before a running clock). Two things happened that made this a joke...one was that after any missed shot, if there was an offensive rebound, they threw the ball back to this kid so he could pass it to someone and they could shoot immediately. The other thing that really...

Really? I'm having a hard time coming up with some other reason. In fact, if they truly wanted to show their humane efforts, they would've not run an ad at all and put out a presser saying they were donating the $5 million to efforts in Texas/Florida/Californai/Puerto Rico/etc. I think their ad is completely 180 degrees different than the one for Stella Artois, and their efforts to get water to 3rd world countries.

Everything that I've seen/heard before takes it in 20 year increments, starting at the end of WWII. So, from 1945-65...those were the baby boomers. From 65-85, Gen-X, and so on.

Interesting question. May have to give it some thought. They've had several that have gone on and played at the next level (DIII or NAIA), but that doesn't necessarily mean that the best players actually did, if they wanted to go to school elsewhere.

I wouldn't mind seeing some of my favorite authors (Baldacci or Coben, for instance) take on Sherlock Holmes. Maybe even some of Agatha Christie's stories for that matter. I guess the main question is...how much has to be retained in order for it to still be considered a "cover"? Characters? Plot? Outcome?

While I don't think it is something that they have "ruined" per se, I do think there is something that millenials are missing out on...and that's the "live" experience. They'd rather watch a sporting event or concert or something else through a 2"x5" screen on their phone, than with their own two eyes. I get it. I've done it myself, thinking that I'll be able to go back and re-enjoy the moment. But, I never have. Sure, I may have shared...

Just out of curiosity, have they ever had Gallatin County and Harrison County as part of the classic? I would think it'd be cool to have all 3 of the schools he coached at, playing at the same event.
