Young Gun

Although I will not be able to make it to this years Ashland vs. Raceland game ( I've made it to the last 4 meetings) I know that the environment and atmosphere at Putnam will be electric as always. If anyone out there on the eastern half of the state is looking for a game to attend, do yourself a favor and make the trip to Ashland for this battle between virtual neighbors. ( I believe there is only like 5-10 miles separating these schools) That being said, I'm not sure really who to go with in this game. I haven't had the pleasure of watching the Rams play this season, even though the Ram Stadium lights shine in my living room windows. Unfortunately I had to move down to the central part of the state, but I know Coach Hoof, Maynard, and Fannin always seem to ge the most out of their players and work extremely hard in the off season. Also all I've heard from various former players and coaches is that Ashland is the team to beat in the area. But Raceland has marched into Putnam the last 3 years, the virtual underdog, and came out with the victory. I would make a prediction, but I believe its too close to call in this one. I just want to wish both teams the best of luck and to come out injury free, btw if any of you Ram players seem to be having any cramps, I'm sure sidelinedoc will fix you right up, just as he did to me a few years ago when we beat the Tomcats.

I am really excited for this game. Not only because its the kickoff of of the 2009 season or that my alma mater is playing on saturday night (Rams), But because it has been over a decade since the Rams have played Boyd County. I faintly remember that game, but my brother, who played against them last, has been telling me some great stories about playing the mighty lions. Me and my brother will both be attending the game and this could possibly be the only game I get to watch this season. So I'd like to wish both teams the best of luck and for them to stay injury free. Btw, I wonder if Bill Tom Ross will be making a trip to the county saturday, I'd say he is intriqued by this long awaited matchup

Congrats to both John Scottt and Brett. John Scott will have an excellent 4 years at Georgetown and will only continue to improve, and as for Brett, it was good to see you recieve the mvp award in your last football game. BTW, Out of the 4 all star games played, Raceland players have collected 3 MVP awards (Tolliver, Forrest, Denton). I believe this is a testament to the great coaching these young men recieved from one of the best coaching staffs in the state.

congrats to these two fine men. I played a two years with these two, and proud say they are my friends. John Scott imo was the best player pound-for-pound on the Raceland football team the last few years, he is a great player and even better young man. Robby Logan, what can you say, his nickname says it all... the "Beast". Ive been around alot of hard working football players, but Robby probably has one of the best work out mentalitys ive ever seen. If you have ever seen this kid in the weight room, you know what im talking about. He's been starting on the O-line at Raceland since he was a freshman and while playing DL he kept many of offensive lineman off me at linebacker. Congrats to these two once again, couldnt have happened to two better men.

During my senior year at Raceland we would sing "the song" after every victory as were running off the field (including the Ashland win). Nothing sounded better after a hard fought football game then those 5 magical words a senior would yell.... "Let me ask you Hank"..... I still get goosebumps. Great Tradition.

A big Raceland Happy Thanksgiving goes out too both Raceland and LCA fans. I just drove past Ram Stadium, and the players were up there bright and early going through walk throughs and fine pointing their game plans. Also a great article today in the ADI about the Raceland coaches (whom i think are among the best in the state) Good luck to both sqauds tommorow, have fun and play your heart out! Also for those Raceland fans, ill be tailgating in my front yard with a few old Rams, your more then welcomed to stop by! Ill grill you up some burgers!

I predict that this game will be one for the ages at Ol' Ram Stadium. There have been alot great games played on that turf ( i was part of atleast one of those ) I predict that this game will be one that will be remembered by both young and old Rams. I remember growing up and watching my brother play on the first 10-0 team in 1996, and those memories will always be with me. I know ill be there, cheering on "RAMS BROTHERS" Good luck Rams, and cant wait till tailgatre friday with a lil' left over turkey :ylsuper:

New Season start this week, every one is 0-0! Hopefully these Rams don't have the same luck that the last 10-0 team had in the playoffs!:scared: ......But i dont see that happening!:dancingpa

Congrats to these fine Young Men on a perfect "REGULAR" season. This is only the second time in school history that this have ever happened (1996) My brother played on that team and i have some very fond memories from that year, even though i was a young ram at the time. Hopefully these Rams have more sucess in the playoffs then that team did. These boys this year have been playing as a true "TEAM", and thats what it takes to win championships. I have grown to become good friends with several of them over the last few years, and i wish them the best of luck in the weeks that follow. "Once a Ram, Always a Ram"

Friday is almost here, im starting to get goosebumps just thinking about it.I wish i was out there playing under those lights, but im sure there will be plenty of talent on both sides of the feild. But i just wanna wish both teams good luck and that they will give their all and come out injury free. Although i do bleed the ol' orange and black, im looking for this to be a great game with great players being cheered on by great fans!

I remember that game at Raceland, it was slugfest with the home team losing. Hopefully these Rams can pull out the "W".... cant wait till friday!!!!! GO RAMS ....

The Showdown is here, #2 and #3 in the state at Ram Stadium!..should quite an atmosphere for some high school football! Im sure the Ram faithful will surrounding the track donning the orange an black!..im already getting goose bumps, feels lile im playing!

Yes, Raceland would probably be overmatched. But games like that, or playing any other team of that caliber, would be very beneficial, especially when the playoffs roll around. Playing schools such as Ironton, Ashland, and Russell, helps small schools like us here at Raceland, experience better competition, and gets us ready for the most important part of the season, the playoffs. I know when I played at Raceland, I really enjoyed playing schools that are bigger and more competitive. I always liked playing them because I always thought we would win, but really I enjoyed it because it got me and my teamates ready for the competition in the playoffs, especially when we had to play teams from Northern Kentucky!!!! .... But win or lose, games like that are very beneficial for a smaller program like Raceland. Yet I doubt those Rams will go into any game thinking they couldn't win !!
