  1. Silva by murder death kill. Anybody attending UFC 119 in Indy?
  2. I believe River is referring to the big boy from Ohio who transferred in two seasons ago and who became ineligible at the end of the season. I believe he was a junior, will he be returning?
  3. Tony B. He is an assistant now at his alma mater, Newport Central Catholic. Whoever the head man is he will have to bring some assistants because I don't believe the remaining staff will be returning.
  4. "I cant believe the 8th grade Birds lost to CC, that is very surprising." Why? They only beat CC by 1 at Highlands just last week and that's only after Highlands battled back from 7 down to hit a three with only 30 or 40 seconds left. Sounds to me like they were pretty even teams.
  5. #31 Smith took the final shot for Campbell and I believe the same Holmes player dunking in warmups got a technical foul in the JV game for dunking while the officials were on the floor in warm ups. This young man may be in Coach Henley's dog house for a while...no pun intended. Agree the Dawgs are a very talented team and probably still the team to beat in the 9th. But they need to get focused as the post season nears. Then again, people said that last year and look what happened...
  6. It would be nice to see some head coaches of varsity programs get involved with developing officials for the future. How many schools have elementary school programs? They could have current/former players come back and officiate some of those games with current "experienced" officials. Then once they graduate those guys could go ahead and get their officiating licenses and start out in the MS/Freshman ranks calling games. Several "good" HS officials got their start doing MS games. It seems this might give middle schools to have a bigger pool of officials to choose from when getting games assigned. Just a thought.
  7. I'll take: Jones, Bonnar, Fitch, Henderson, GSP Lesnar vs. Mir: After watching the countdown show and listening to Mir try to impress America with his tremendous vocabulary and then Lesnar attempt to talk trash, I don't care who wins. Hopefully, they both get lost en route to the arena. BTW-Currently reading Forrest's new book "Got Fight?", freakin hilarious!!! Great one liners for talking trash which Frank and Brock may benefit from...
  8. Although I agree that some other leagues are more competitive than the Dayton and Newport leagues ... don't be so quick to discredit them ... several of recent Highlands "greats" came up through that league ... Derrick Smith, Jared Lorenzen ... several others ...
  9. I read where Machida is the favorite but I think Evans will some how pull it off. Hopefully it's not a boring fight, since both are somewhat elusive and look for counter strikes. I think Hughes will beat Serra by decision. They both have a lot of rust to shake off coming into the fight. I will be in Sin City this weekend so hopefully I can find some tickets that don't cost an arm and a leg.
  10. I haven't heard much about the Alves-GSP fight. What does anybody think??? I believe this should be a good one. Alves isn't going to be pushed around since the last time he fought he came into the cage on fight night pushing 200 lbs. GSP may be more technical but he won't have the strength advantage that he has had in the past.
  11. I heard late summer, maybe early fall. Forrest jacked up his hand against Rashad at UFC 92 and he may get back in the mix by UFC 101 or 102.
  12. Now there are accusations of Silva greasing prior to the start of the fight...if you watch his entrance in the cage he does wipe access vasoline, from his face on, his chest and arms. More drama to add to a non-drama filled night! From what I read he may only have 4 more fights on his contract so why not make 3 of them title fights (Light Heavy, Heavy and possibly Welter Weight Title at a catch weight with GSP???) Then we can finish it off with a UFC legend, Couture...Would be a great way to go out!!!
  13. Didn't get to see the pay per view but sounds like it was pretty lack luster. After reading Dana's post fight recap and other articles about the event, I think I am going to jump on the bandwagon of Dana White Haters. Honestly what does this guy expect? Dana and Joe Silva are throwing meatballs at Anderson and they expect him to make these fights spectacular??? Granted, the last two fights he probably should have won via KO and I honestly think he would have if Cote could have continued but really...until Anderson Silva is given some formidable opponents then his fights are going to suffer. If I was Anderson and the so called boss was mad about the fight then maybe I would just walk away...maybe the UFC isn't tops in MMA and maybe my talents are just to much??? Or is Dana protecting his other champions from the possible beatdown they would take if Anderson was able to move up in weight-class???
  14. Definitely agree that Silva will defeat Leites if the fight is kept standing. I think Shogun and Chuck will be a good fight. I really thought Chuck could get this win especially with Shogun's conditioning issues but then I saw Chuck on Deadliest Warrior...the belly is looking abnormally bigger than usual!!!
  15. It's not unrealistic to think that a high school coach could get paid $8,000 - $12,000. Some schools pay based on a percentage of the coach's teaching salary ... some as much as 20%!!! At that percentage, if a teacher makes $40,000 (which with years experience, rank I, etc is not out of the question), he'd get $8,000 for coaching. Some schools do just set a dollar amount and give increment raises each year. One NKY school I know pays only $4,000 to the head coach with $250 raises each year he/she is there.
