  1. The bag-o-chili at East Carter is top notch! Open a bag of fritos, pour in the chili and cheese, add a plastic spoon and eat it right out of the frito bag. It's a treat...it's a snack...it's a meal!
  2. Word in the stands concerning the young man removed from team prior to game was that he was playing host to a guest in his room that was in no way affiliated with the Kentucky All-stars. Word after the game on the the young man who is no longer on the team after the game was said to have just "went off" in the locker room as a response to the loss...pointing fingers, blame game, self-centered type of stuff.
  3. East got hot at tournament time last year and almost made it to the final 8! Looks like the "bullfrog" has a knack for getting his teams peaking at the right time. Not sure anyone in the 16th will be pleased with an East Carter draw.
  4. I think that the defensive effort by both Fant and Barnhill contributed to both of their less than stellar offensive showings. They both worked so hard at defending each other that it pretty much wore them down on the offensive end. They more or less neutralized one another. One thing that stuck out to me was just how much more physically imposing the WC athletes were compared to EC. The Raiders may need to focus a bit more on nutrition and the weight room? As well as EC played in the first half they should have been up by 10 or 12 at the break. I am sure that all in attendance felt the most talented team won the game.
  5. Who are the best players in the state tournament that many in the state may have never heard of? How about 6'7" Colt Barnhill of East Carter. What a great player Mr. Barnhill is. The Air Force Academy is rumored to lead for his services. Who else will make a name for themselves at the big show?
  6. How could you have Martha L. Collins High School and not be called the "Governors" as your mascot? Come on now...Titans????
  7. You are right about the amazing shot! I would say that young man could take that same shot many times and maybe not hit it again. What made it even more amazing was I thought he may have been fouled on his way up and then he shot it on the way down, one handed, out away from his body.
  8. Too bad they weren't awarding points for the number of passes in overtime...East would have won by 20.
  9. Listened to some of the game on the radio. Sounded like an East Carter player hit a full court shot at the buzzer before halftime.
  10. It is so sad but true that it sometimes takes the death of a coach to truly reveal what kind of coach he/she was and what type of true impact they had on the lives of their players. One can tell by the number of former players who take time to come and pay respects. I hope the lines were long for Coach Chuke.
  11. I happened to be at this game. I was impressed with Fleming Co. They were very physical. Other than some of the Roger Zornes boyd county teams that had the philosophy of "foul every trip down the floor because the officials will get tired of blowing the whistles"...Fleming Co. was the most physical team I have seen. They literally beat the tar out of the Raiders but on the positive side they circled up after the game and had prayer!
  12. You know how the police bring in small time crooks all the time and give them some sort of immunity if they will turn over state's evidence to go after the big timer? Maybe the KHSAA dangled a deal in front of the faces of these boys to turn over evidence against the mighty Rose Hill basketball machine in order for them to be declared eligible. Maybe this was the KHSAA's effort to pull out the bottom card on Rose Hill's house of cards and now everyone will see the house of cards tumble! It is pretty much common knowledge that there are forces both inside and outside the Rose Hill program that are trying to change the motis operandi of the tiny Christian school located in Ashland. What is very ironic about this whole situation is the very school...officially named Paul G. Blazer High School...that has cried and moaned the most, for very good reason mind you, about all the student athletes they have lost to Rose Hill over the years, will now serve as the beneficiary of the house of cards tumbling. Should Blazer take the high road and live up to their beliefs and as an institution stand up and say that they will not play those young men until they have sat out their year as mandated by the very rules of which they have so diligently quoted time and time again! Seriously, why not just make the state open enrollment and allow any student to play at any school they want to as long as they are enrolled at that school on the first day of school!
  13. WUGO had major technical difficulties. Was very frustrating to listen to. From the best I could tell East was without their starting point guard Robinson. Can someone verify that? Also sounded like only 3 Elliott players scored. Something like 32, 21, and 20 with Knipp from Elliott taking 39 shots in the game! Many people started rumors that Knipp would transfer from Elliott after the last years graduates. I never bought into that...why?...many high school players play their entire career without taking 39 shots in a varsity basketball game but Knipp may get to do just that nearly every game! Amazing!
