I'm going to smack everyone into tiny little pieces...
  1. First, I am a registered Democrat living in Lewis Co. Actually, I am probably only one of 10 registered Democrats living in Lewis Co.(I'm exaggerating, but only slightly). At any rate, my health insurance got cancelled, so I had to sign up for this. We chose an option that was comparable to the policy we have had for over 20 years and it is going to cost us $175 more PER MONTH. We just did this yesterday and I am FURIOUS. I can't even begin to say all of the things that I think are wrong with this, plus what it is going to do to our country. We're already in a bad place. If I turn out to be wrong, I will be the first to say so. But I have no faith in the federal government managing anything fiduciary-wise anymore, let alone adding something as complicated as health insurance and health care. Bah humbug.
  2. Those stupid Febreeze commercials where people are blindfolded.:irked: They're even doing them at GABP before the game. I also agree that "Flo" has been around long past her expiration date.
  3. Yes, I have; plus I read the novella. But I guess I don't remember the ending. Please enlighten me here or PM me.
  4. I'm not even going to bother correcting mistakes in any previous posts. I will assume that most, if not all, people here are the product of a twelve-year compulsory, government funded education. Therefore, if English is your first language there is no excuse for poor grammar. It's just laziness and ignorance; there is no justification.
  5. Especially this. That guy endured that entire hellish night, plus whatever his backstory was before he got to the farmhouse, just to be shot as soon as he walked outside the next morning.
  6. No breed of dog is all bad or all good. However, due to simple physics, I would prefer to be bitten by a Pomeranian rather than a Pit Bull. In just the same way that I would prefer to be attacked by a Rainbow trout rather than a Great White shark. As to dog attacks on small children: small children(like dogs) are unpredictable, and don't possess the reasoning to understand dogs and know how to behave around them. Also, dogs are pack animals who view humans as members of their packs. Based on size alone, adults usually figure into the pecking order higher than children, let alone infants and small toddlers. This goes for all dogs; not necessarily just large breeds, or breeds that are reputed to be agressive. All dogs need socialization, training and a great deal of attention. Unfortunately, that is usually not the case. I have seen x-rays of penned dogs who had anywhere up to 5 POUNDS of gravel in their stomach. They didn't eat it because they were hungry, they ate it because they were bored. In the case of purebred dogs, their genetics and evolution require that they do a "job." They're not going to be happy dogs otherwise. So, for example, if a person owns a hunting dog or a herding dog, and they're not letting them hunt or herd, they must substitute enough excercise and activity to compensate for what the dog was originally bred to do. Chaining a large dog to a tree, crating it most of the day, or leaving it to its own devices in a small, confined area doesn't measure up. I, personally, don't want to be around breeds like Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Cairns or Dobermans. I don't want to be around tigers either, trained or not. But I can't ever fault animals for behaving like animals. I can fault human adults for being irresponsible, lazy and ignorant.
  7. You're welcome. Thank you for the information about WWZ. Um, I don't want to be a spoiler for book readers or moviegoers, so I'm not going to comment any more until I've seen it. Back to the original Night of the Living Dead, does anyone else think the ending is one of the most ironic of film history?
  8. Very sad. Maybe I'm a mean person; but every time I hear of an incident like this, it makes me realize that many people today aren't fit to own dogs or have children.
  9. I agree, that movie was intense. It was a good film. Not only have I not seen The Omega Man; I've never even heard of it! I'll have to look it up.
  10. I hope it's good. As to that, I know Brad Pitt is attached to this film as an actor. Does anyone know which character he is playing? Is he the journalist/narrator? Or one of the other characters? As I said, I'm curious about how this book is going to be adapted.
  11. Definitely not necessary. The Zombie Survival Guide is a satirical how-to manual. I bought it from the Humor section of B&N. I enjoyed it, but it's a slow read, due to the vast amount of details and technical information. Knowing I had read it, when World War Z was published, my son bought it for me as a gift. I love World War Z, but I was really surprised at the difference in direction Max Brooks had taken with the two books.
  12. :thumb:Definitely my favorite. I'm looking forward to, but also kind of worried about World War Z... I loved the book, but it's so long and involved I'm not sure how it's going to play out on film. Has anyone else read the preceding book by Max Brooks, The Zombie Survival Guide? Totally different genre, but I enjoyed it as well.
  13. What Getslow said. Everything about this movie is great. Acting, casting, direction, cinematography, music, etc. It is a film that is mental, as well as visceral. I've read a great many of Stephen King's books, as well as the compilations of short stories. As to the movies, I also like Carrie and Christine.
  14. Yes, it's a pretty stupid thing to suspend a kid for. But, I also think that it's ultimately the parents' fault, because there are a great many stupid parents out there as well. Did the kid really want or know about a mohawk? Or was it because of his parents influence? There was a recent story about a kid holding a sign up at a Who concert, with Pete Townsend responding negatively. Who was at fault? Pete Townsend, or the guy who brought his 5 year old child to a Who concert and had the kid hold up a sign? As stupid as school administrators have shown themselves capable of being, don't underestimate the stupidity of the parents of today. Either way, it's the kids who suffer.
