Your next step is: 1. Hire a coach capable of building a program. 2. Place a priority on the sport as a school and see it as a way to make your school better.

This the crux of the situation, no matter if a school is private, independent or county.

Bluegrasspreps, continuing our tradition of leadership in Kentucky high school sports information, news and discussion, will once again have threads for every football playing school in the state. The Bluegrasspreps staff will start team threads by picking one letter of the alphabet and starting a thread for all the teams that start with that letter. The letters will be picked randomly this year by the BGP staff. This does not mean that...

I am really excited for Daniel. He is a good, young and energetic coach. I'm sure he will do great things with the Comets.

Perhaps not, but if your school is underachieving, you can not blame parents for taking their children to a school that will better prepare them for life after high school. What are parents to do, leave their kids at schools that do not prepare their students for college to make a point? In my area, the county school was under control of the state for academic shortcomings, many parents transferred their kids to Raceland. The county school...

I'm not recommending anyone do away with their facility, it was a mythical thought that if a time came where multiple schools needed a new facility they could pull their resources together and make one venue and make a much bigger facility with more amenities. I used those schools just to make a point of what could be. Sure, in our state, most are more familiar with "Friday Night Games", but if it was something that had been done for years,...

There is no real criteria printed. Supposedly, it does have to be a Kentucky High School Senior who plays for a KHSAA school. Other then that, there isn't a set of rules assigned to it. Some people are going to see it as a "career" type award, some see it as a "senior season" type award. Some think it has to be someone that is going to play D1 football and some see it as a "best high school player" type award. Write your own criteria I guess.

Exactly. Could you imagine if four NKY schools like Highlands, CovCath, NCC and Beechwood combined and build a facility and shared the expense and attendance at games?

Since before the season started, I have said Rondale Moore. Don't see a reason to change at this point.

Simply put, fix your school and parents won't transfer their children to other schools. In my area, there are three schools that routinely get student transfers more so then the other schools. Those three schools are the highest in the area in test scores, student achievement and the number of students that attend and graduate college. Coincidentally, those three schools do pretty well in sports as well. Schools that do well academically,...

I think many schools, particularly in heavily populated areas, are missing out in not combining their efforts and building one, nice, all-inclusive sports complex and combine Friday night and Saturday games. Resources could be combined to develop a complex one school could not afford and each school could boost their attendance at games by attending each others games since some would be playing Friday night and other would be playing on...

Statistically, yes. But, in reality, no. How many games has Dunbar lost to smaller schools? How many times has Raceland (1A) beaten larger schools? How many times has Beechwood (1A) beaten larger schools? How many times has Mayfield (2A formerly 1A) beaten larger schools? I think many correlate larger enrollment with better football players. The truth is, having more students does not mean you will find more athletes, it just means...

I'm trying to dispel the belief that NAIA players can't get a free education, that is often perpetuated. Many players at Georgetown are going to school for free as part of the football team. Yes, they have 24 scholarships. But, there are many at Georgetown that are not paying a dime for their education. We can say some of it is academic money and some of it is athletic money, or how ever you want to frame it, but the bottom line is many...

Funny. I've never seen how enrollment made a difference in football. In fact, we prove every season how it doesn't make a difference.

Again, this is a fallacy. There are many players at Georgetown that have a full scholarship. And, I know for a fact, players I am close to received full, and close to full, scholarships to several NAIA schools.
