  1. All, I sent the following message to our Basketball Coaches and AD's this morning: "There comes a time in every career when it's time to retire. Most of you know broadcasting games started out as a way to give the kids at Gallatin County some additional exposure since the Post wouldn't. Most of you also know that I work at St. Elizabeth during the day. As we found with Covid, I find myself working from home most of the week. This does not allow me much time to obtain new sponsors, get out to do game prep, etc. So that being said, after 17 years, I have decided to retire from broadcasting. I can't thank you all enough for all of the friendships we have made over all of these years. Everyone of you hold a special place in my heart. It's hard to step away, but it's time. Thank you all for your support, your friendship and your help over all of these years. We could not do this without you. Who knows, I may pop in from time to time to see you all. You are a huge part of my life." This also goes to BGP. A lot of spirited debate on numerous topics and enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you all for YOUR support of what we did. I appreciate everyone's input. For now, c-ya Buttels
  2. We did broadcast a game in Taylor Mill last year against Bellevue. Their team was made up of primarily soccer players. In talking to their coach, who has since left, they just wanted to have a team, but as Mustang said, things went downhill quickly and they stopped playing. Totally agree with the boys side of things, great development of the program, but also that a decision needs to be made on keeping it or not at all. If they did shut it down, would they need to close down a boys program for Title IX reasons?
  3. Per the Trimble County Facebook page, Coach J. P. Dale is stepping down as Head Coach.
  4. No inside info, but either Blake or Meredith Hartfiel to step up for the varsity gig.
  5. Today is opening day at Lemker Field. I will be out there this afternoon as part of St. Elizabeth's effort to wrap up the landscaping, painting, etc needed. I'll have pictures of the dedication and how it looks.
  6. "The Roy" at Henry County will celebrate it's 60th year next year as the host of the 8th Region Boys Tournament. The Roy L. Winchester Gymnasium has been updated in the past few years with new scoreboards (Used to have the big square one in the middle of the gym above half court), a new floor was put in about 2 years ago. One of the best atmosphere's for high school basketball, especially at tournament time.
  7. His last year at Williamstown, he was voted NCKC Coach of the Year. Glad to see him back on the sidelines. Got some work to do, but he'll get it done.
  8. In the 8th Region for basketball, thinking split county schools Shelby County/Collins. Definitely Gallatin County/Owen County, Trimble County/Carroll County, Henry County/Eminence.
  9. Saw a post from Coach Hannah Devine that she is stepping away from the program after 5 years. We wish her the best.
  10. After winning just 1 game in 2017, the Trimble County football team for the most part disbanded. Students wanting to play football were allowed to transfer without penalty and a few moved to Carroll County. In 20-21, according to the Trimble County Facebook page, they will be fielding a varsity team. The KHSAA Team Alignment page does not have them listed in the last district they played in, Class 2A District 5, so we'll wait to see if the are placed back with Walton-Verona, Owen County, Gallatin County, Shawnee & Carroll County. We're glad to see the program back on it's feet!!!
