  1. I don't prefer changing the regions much because schools develop loyalties and rivalries. But eventually the 10th Region needs to go north or south. The distance from Montgomery County to Campbell County is almost 2 hours. That really doesn't make sense and the schools have little in common.
  2. Again, I am very proud of Augusta. They all love their school and have created a quality school system that serves their citizens well. Few people likely realize that Augusta is a public system and the high school has less than 100 students, usually about 90. Congratulations!
  3. I would think Joe Wynn would apply. When he took the Mason County job, it was reported that he and his family were looking forward to moving to the area but for some reason it never happened. Mason County is a good job with lots of support but an hour drive each way on the AA would have to get pretty old, especially with young children at home.
  4. In my opinion George Rogers Clark's is the best high school gym in the state, as are their other sports facilities, just ask GRC fans. Their football facilities are even better, seriously. I know that Marshall County's gym is excellent as well. But its hard to beat the Mason County Fieldhouse for atmosphere in the 10th region tournament and sometimes during the season for a big game.
  5. As I've said before, the Reeds have lived in the same house for many years within a stones throw of Mason County High School. With all of the other transfers going on all over the state for all kinds of ridiculous reasons, it just doesn't make any sense to me that they would have to appeal going to their home high school. I've been told on here that's not how the KHSAA transfer rules work but I still say its unreasonable. All of the Mason County fans I've talked to are happy to have Blake and Cayden home.
  6. Mason lost a lot Seniors from last year's strong team and also moved up in class. But, Coach Wynn has our young team progressing nicely. The first loss to Russell is explainable since a valued and loved player on the team lost his life in a car accident a just a few weeks before, which was very hard on the team and community. I don't understand the Boyd County loss. We are looking forward to hosting Cov Cath for the first time with their great tradition and reputation. Not likely to win, but I believe Mason will show up strong. For dinner, I would recommend DeShas, Tumbleweed, Mi Camino Real, or Pasquales, all are excellent in their own way and close to the field.
  7. One can’t ignore the obvious: a very small 1A school pretty much killed a largish 5A school which spends a ton of money on sports. Big props to Paris!
  8. Great rivalry, super atmosphere and basically packed. Mason is starting to recover from their tragic preseason in which a valued player lost his life in a car accident.
  9. I know no specifics about Paris but I’m pretty sure Paris’ head coach is a star. I’m so happy for Paris! They are one of the smaller schools in class A and have struggled in most recent years.
  10. That would be 100% ridiculous. They’ve lived in Mason County for years and only went to Bracken because their Dad coached there. As bad as Khsaa is, this cannot be true.
  11. I recall that the proposal was to call FD the stallions, but that kind of doesn’t work well for female teams. So they let the school vote.
  12. I have always liked Harrison's Gym. Years ago it hosted the 10th Region Tournament most years.
  13. Didn't play football that I know of but one of my favs: Silver Grove Big Trains and it so fit their community.
