  1. The ACT score is built into the state assessment for 11 graders, and thus is factored into the CATS score. (I think.)
  2. You should have asked that question a year ago. That's when it started.
  3. Jackson was back on track at the Buckhorn Invitational today. They took the lead about 2 minutes into the game and never gave it up. Balanced scoring with 4 players in double figures. Leslie looked tired after 2 hard-fought games on the previous two nights at the Buckhorn Invitational. Thanks to the Buckhorn folks for a nice tournament.
  4. Jackson's boys took the night off and Buckhorn tore them up, had a 20 pt lead at half and kept it the rest of the game. Eric Stidham went out with a bad ankle. Andy Blank couldn't miss. Jackson City's boys said they were tired and sore from their hard 2OT game with Middlesboro the night before. They certainly looked tired against Buckhorn.
  5. Gayheart had his second straight double-double for Jackson with 11 or 12 points and 11 rebounds. The freshman Josh Hollon had 12 points, Goff had 17, Pedro Sierra had 18, and Hayes had 20 for the Tigers.
  6. Middlesboro came out with the win after 2 overtimes. M-boro kept the lead until late in the game when JCS came back and took the lead, and then see-sawed back and forth until a couple of key turnovers and fouls let Middlesboro put it away. Exciting game from start to finish.

    Elk

The state biologists want 1000 tags issued, but some of the commission members are fighting it so that whacking an elk can be an exclusive club that's hard to get into. There are plenty of animals and to keep the herd at the desired numbers, they need to thin them out, and the biologists say 1000 is the number right now. Seems they are the ones that should know. Knott Co. and Floyd Co. have had several serious auto accidents. In the late winter and early spring the elk come down off the strip jobs and start eating in yards, orchards, and garden areas and wandering around in the roads. They get into trouble and cause hard feelings.
  8. Good game, close to the end. Both teams showed good aggression and the ability to put rallies together. Hayes had 25 for Jackson and several steals and rebounds. Gayheart had 19 and 9 blocks for them as well.

    Elk

This is correct. Scarheel doesn't provide his location, but the strip mine and the elk make me think he is well inside the restoration zone. Therefore if this is true, only lucky lottery winners will get to take a poke at those elk. If Scarheel is indeed outside the restoration counties, then he could run down to the county clerk's office, pick up an out-of-zone elk tag, and run back up and collect his meat for the winter. People often don't believe you can take an elk at arm's length, but his pictures show they aren't exactly a wary majestic critter. It'll take some hunting pressure to put the fear in them.
  10. I think the Jackson Tigers can count that one as a moral victory, regardless of the score. Jackson outplayed and outhustled Powell for 4 quarters, even with 5 players fouled out on the bench. They had the lead and the ball with 6seconds before it went into OT. Powell ended up barely winning in OT over the JV team. Dang those pesky time clock buttons. They never work when you need them to.
  11. The slo-mo video shows they won it last year, but just didn't get the trophy. They'll win a few games this year. Jackson is never deep but they'll surprise a few teams like they do every year.
  12. Doug reads this forum, or at least hears about it. Those of us that know and respect him agree that he needs to do the right thing and give Owsley's administration an answer.
  13. Got a list of the all-tournament team for the 14th?
  14. no they pitched campbell, Jackson only had 5 hits, and they had two players with 2 each, tigers played decent defense, Lee County just played better
