I attended the Paintsville/South Floyd finals Saturday night and as a fan of high school basketball I was upset by the way the officials called that game. I'm not taking sides, South Floyd won so they get to go to Richmond but there were some questionable calls in the final two to three minutes that cost Paintsville the game. The calls were calls that any official should be able to make, even in buddy ball. KICKING (has to be intentional, that official was sitting on South Floyds bench when he called that against Paintsville), 5 seconds (never mind that official can't count to five). Plus, you can only move on the baseline when throwing the ball in after a made basket right (the official was watching the cheerleaders on that). I feel for the officials, I know it is hard to call a game, but they are trained to call it correctly and fairly.
It hurts the kids the most when you don't call a fair game.
Oh yeah, I have to give some props to the fan that got tossed during the game. After watching the game he was probably doing the right thing.
